Chapter 5

I woke to the sound of voices and quickly hid up in a tree again. Wanda, Natasha, and another girl I didn't recognize were walking in my direction.

"Peter said he last saw her out here," Wanda said

"She probably ran off." The other woman said

"I don't think she would do that." Said Natasha

"Wouldn't you have when you were first brought here?"

"I most definitely would've," Wanda answered "but I'm not sure she would."

Natasha glanced around and spotted me in the tree. I guess it really wasn't a good hiding spot but there was nothing better.

"Found her." She said pointing up

The other two followed her finger and also saw me. I climbed down sheepishly and Wanda hugged me as soon as I touched the ground.

"Everyone's been looking for you." She said, "Where were you?"

"I've been here all night. I feel more comfortable sleeping outside."

She nodded "Anyway this is Hope." She gestured to the other woman "We're leaving for a mission just us four."

"Four? You mean I'm coming too?"

"You have to start somewhere." Natasha said, "Let's head back we'll leave in ten."

They lead me back to the mansion and everyone seemed happy to see me. I headed up to my room and showered quickly. Someone knocked on my door and when I opened it I found a supersuit. It was simple black with magenta lighting bolts running down the sides. There was a hood with a mask inside that I pulled over my face and I saw buttons appear in front of me.

"Hello." a voice said causing me to jump "I'm Hannah. Tony has added me to your suit to help you."

"What are you?"

"I'm artificial intelligence. Tony has been adding us to all the suits recently. You are Maryama correct?"

"That's right."

"What would you like me to call you Maryama, Mary, or maybe Ama?"

"Don't call me Ama." I said through gritted teeth "Mary's fine."

"Of course then Mary. The rest of your team seems ready to leave. They are waiting for you outside the mansion."

I headed out and found Natasha and Wanda waiting there for me.

"Where's Hope?" I asked

"Right here." I heard her voice call "I've already shrunken down so you can barely see me."

I remembered her now. She and her husband both had access to Pym tech as her dad is Hank Pym. She probably also provided our car which was a simple black van that totally didn't look like a kidnappers van. Natasha climbed into the driverside of the car and Wanda hopped in shotgun leaving me with invisible Hope in the back. We drove in complete silence. Nobody spoke to each other nobody turned on music in fact nobody really moved except Natasha. When we arrived I saw a map appear in front of me.

"What's this?" I asked Hannah

"That's the map of the building you're at. Here's what you're going to do. There's some important information in this room" A room near the back of the building was highlighted in yellow "Your job is to keep watch while the others head in and grab the information."

"Really, watch duty?" I said louder than I intended

"That's what Peter always says" Joked Wanda "You two are the youngest so have fun." she and the others left and headed inside leaving me alone with my thoughts.

"How old is Peter?" I asked Hannah

"Peter Parker's birthday is August 10, 2001, making him 25 years old like you"

"Actually I'll be 26 as of tomorrow."

"Well, happy early birthday but shouldn't you be keeping watch?"

"Watch duty never does anything. I just sit here while they're gone."

"Yes but what if something happens?"

"Then I help but nothing ever happens."

We sat there for a while until there was a ringing in my ear

"What is that?" I asked

"That would be your ringtone it appears Peter is trying to get ahold of you."

"Answer call." I told Hannah "Hello?"

"Hi." Peter said, "You have watch duty?"

"Yeah, it's pretty boring. They've already been gone at least ten minutes and I'm just sitting here."

"It sucks. Anyway I heard that it's your birthday tomorrow and I was wondering if you wanted to come with me to get some donuts for breakfast."

"Sure I would like that. See you then."

I hung up the call and glanced down to find the other three standing there.

"You on a call with your boyfriend?" Natasha asked and I knew my cheeks turned bright red

"Nope, just Peter." I said, "He invited me to go get donuts for my birthday."

"Did he say which donut shop?" Wanda asked

"No. Why does it matter?"

"His girlfriend works at one of the donut shops downtown but to keep his identity secret he had to erase everyone's memories of him," Hope said

"So she doesn't remember him either"

"Yeah, but he keeps hoping. He goes there every Sunday and takes any other chance he gets." Wanda explained

"I think it's dumb if you ask me." Natasha butted in and the other two glared at her "Anyway let's go now. We've done our mission." She again climbed into the front seat of the van.

Hope took shotgun leaving me with Wanda who I didn't speak to the whole ride back.
