Chapter 299. Fantastic Four (Part1)

"Yeah, a few days in space, it'll be great," Ben muttered sarcastically.

Without warning, the tires skidded, causing the vehicle to tilt and slide out of the road range outside the bridge's main structure.

The skidding fire truck directly hit and broke the diagonal steel cables on one side of the Brooklyn Bridge. The violent inertial force caused half of the vehicle to crash outside the bridge's surface. A firefighter who was controlling the nozzle and spraying water to put out the fire at the back of the truck was caught off guard and lost his balance, falling from the fire truck in front of the shocked onlookers nearby. It looked like he was about to fall into the sea.

From that height, falling into the sea was almost as dangerous as falling onto cement, and it would have resulted in certain death.

Just as the tragedy was about to unfold, Reed demonstrated his abilities in a critical moment. His body had mutated from the cosmic storm's radiation, giving him incredible elasticity. Controlling it with his mind, Reed's hands stretched out like rubber, and he quickly caught the firefighter and rescued him.

Meanwhile, Johnny looked at the tilting fire truck and, without much hesitation, let go of the little girl in his arms, saying, "Stay here and don't move!"

He planned to use his own ability to save the fire truck from tilting and falling.

However, it was clear that even with superpowers, Johnny couldn't prevent the ladder on the truck from moving.

As time passed, in just a few short seconds, the long fire truck that had already stopped and stabilized began to shake violently with a piercing, unpleasant sound of metal grinding on metal, causing the middle of the truck's body to shift and fall once more. Reed tightly wrapped his hands around the fire engine but to no avail. The radiation gave him incredible flexibility but not incredible strength.

As he watched, the entire truck was about to fall into the sea.

At this critical moment, Ben once again took action.

Although the cosmic storm turned him into an orange-colored rock man, it also gave him amazing defense and strength. With both hands grabbing the front of the truck, using his superhuman strength, Ben grunted, and in the next instant, his heavy body stomped two deep pits into the bridge, then he exerted his strength and pulled the fire truck back onto the bridge.

Although he saved the lives of a truck full of firefighters, Ben's mood was still low. After all, even with his superhuman strength, he couldn't conceal his disappointment at his current ghastly appearance. This was even more evident when he saw Reed and the others, who also possessed super abilities but still looked the same.
