1 drop of blood = 1-Up Other people game overnight, I game overnight and bleed. Ever since the dimensional storms descended upon Earth, numerous dimensional zones have appeared, bringing with them all kinds of dimensional creatures—Immortals, Buddhas, Devils, Angels, Elves, etc. Yet, all these strange dimensional zones can turn into dungeon instances on my phone. Other people risk their lives adventuring, I spend all my time gaming. Monsters drop dimensional crystals that boost stats, imbue new skills, and join me as Companion Beasts. These Companion Beasts fight alongside me or alone, augmenting me with their skills and strength. Rare monsters in real life? I'll just restart the game with a drop of blood to grind it. I really need a blood transfusion.

Chapter 1Abandoning Himself to Vice

"After the dimensional storms decades ago, multiple dimensional zones appeared across the world—gods, immortals, ghosts, monsters, angels, devils, elves, etc. All kinds of legendary dimensional creatures were discovered. Via hunting these dimensional creatures, humans acquire their powers…" As the grizzled Yu Qiubai lectured, he would occasionally cast his gaze to the corner seat at the back of the classroom.

The other students were listening attentively, but the boy in the corner had his textbook in front of him while sleeping with his arm lay outstretched on the table. From time to time, one could hear faint snoring.

Yu Qiubai shook his head indiscernibly as he sighed inwardly. So what if you are talented? What can you accomplish if you falter from a single setback? Although the setback from that failure was big, not recovering from it really doesn't make him live up to the former principal's approbation of him.

Yu Qiubai recalled what the former principal had said to him before his retirement. Looking back at the boy sleeping soundly on the table with drool hanging from the corner of his lips, he couldn't help but shake his head and sigh.

"Qiubai, I've seen many geniuses in my life. In summary, there are two types of geniuses." The former principal back then had very bright eyes.

"What are the two types?" Yu Qiubai had asked curiously.

"One type of genius is called Zhou Wen, the other type is the other geniuses."

The former principal's words left a deep impression on Yu Qiubai, but the student who was given heaps of praises by the former principal was now a degenerate, one who had no intention of improving himself. All he did was sleep in class. After class, he would be gaming on his cellphone.

Yu Qiubai had attempted to bolster Zhou Wen's confidence in the past, hoping that he could rally him up. But despite the numerous pep talks, Zhou Wen remained the same. He continued sleeping in class and gaming out of class. He didn't focus on cultivation as though he had lost all sense of enterprise.

Ring!

With the bell ringing to mark the end of class, Yu Qiubai saw Zhou Wen sit straight up, having awoken from his sweet slumber. Without even turning back, he grabbed his phone and rushed out of the classroom. This only disappointed Yu Qiubai as he muttered with a sigh, "Principal, I've tried my best. Unfortunately, Zhou Wen is a hopeless case."

Zhou Wen jogged the entire way and soon left the building before coming to a secluded corner in the school compound.

He wasn't oblivious to the strange looks his teachers and schoolmates gave him, but he didn't take it to heart.

Others believed that Zhou Wen had wallowed in self-misery because he had failed to handle the setback, but he knew very well that he had never taken the defeat to heart. The reason he was "abandoning himself to vice" was due to an incomprehensible reason that even he couldn't explain.

After unlocking his phone, with great familiarity, Zhou Wen launched a game program called "Ant Nest". Soon, the phone's screen revealed the dark interior of an ant nest. The meandering paths had countless black ants crawling about.

After ensuring that no one was looking at him, Zhou Wen pricked his finger and dripped a drop of blood onto the screen.

A strange scene happened the next second. The drop of blood seeped into the screen as a blood-colored avatar appeared in the game screen of Ant Nest. Beside the blood-colored avatar was a stat window.

Zhou Wen

Age: 16 years

Lifeform level: Mortal

Strength: 9

Speed: 5

Constitution: 8

Essence Energy: 4

Essence Energy Art: Ascetic Meditation

Essence Energy Skills: None

Companion Beast: None

Ever since the dimensional storms, all sorts of dimensional life forms had appeared. They were roughly categorized as Mortal, Legendary, Epic, and Mythical. Humans stood at the bottom of the totem pole as Mortals. By cultivating in Essence Energy Arts, they could raise their constitutions and evolve to higher life forms.

However, simply cultivating in an Essence Energy Art to hone one's body and evolve was extremely slow. Hunting dimensional creatures and robbing them of their dimensional crystals for one's own use allowed accelerated evolution.

Pan-dimensional creatures lurked in dangerous places. Other than the zones where humanity had explored, the other zones were almost a sure ticket to death. Not everyone was willing to risk their lives.

Furthermore, Earth's federation had clear rules—underaged youths were forbidden entry into the dimensional zones.

The Ascetic Meditation, which Zhou Wen had cultivated, was also an Essence Energy Art. It solely relied on arduously tempering one's body to cultivate Essence Energy without the reliance on external forces.

In the federation, there were plenty of sixteen-year-old geniuses who could produce Essence Energy from cultivation, but few people on Earth could do it simply by cultivating Ascetic Meditation and tempering his body to produce Essence Energy, especially without any external help. He was the only one capable of doing so in the history of the small town of Guide City.

Shortly after, every teacher and student in Guide High School believed that Zhou Wen would achieve great things in the future. Then, one day a transfer student came to Guide High School and challenged him. To everyone's surprise, the transfer student defeated him in one strike. Furthermore, it was done by a girl.

Zhou Wen stopped cultivating arduously after that. He appeared to abandon himself to vice. People imagined that he was mentally weak and couldn't suffer the setback, but Zhou Wen knew very well that his change had nothing to do with the failure. It was completely because of the mysterious phone in his hand.

Zhou Wen looked down at his phone as he kept controlling the blood-colored avatar on it to slay the black ants in an Ant Nest.

"Killed Mortal creature, Vigor Ant… Killed Mortal creature, Vigor Ant… Killed Mortal creature, Vigor Ant…"

Notifications quickly flashed past as he killed every ant.

Ding!

After killing countless Vigor Ants, he suddenly heard a crisp sound as a special notice appeared on the screen: Killed Mortal creature, Vigor Ant. Discovered Essence Energy Crystal.

Zhou Wen focused his gaze and saw a crystalline body resembling a diamond that appeared after a Vigor Ant was killed. On it was the number five.

He was delighted as he hurriedly controlled the blood-colored avatar to pick up the Essence Energy Crystal. The moment the Essence Energy Crystal touched its fingers, it immediately transformed into a strange aura that drilled into the blood-colored avatar's body.

Simultaneously, Zhou Wen felt strength surge into his body from his phone as though he had been struck by lightning. It caused the Essence Energy within him to be rapidly replenished.

The Essence Energy entry in the blood-colored avatar's stats went from four to five.

After killing a dimensional creature, there was a chance that various kinds of crystals would drop. The most common crystals were Strength, Speed, Constitution, and Essence Energy Crystals.

The usage of Strength Crystals enhanced the Strength of humans, while using Speed Crystals increased one's speed. The other crystals had similar effects.

But in reality, crystals didn't have numeric displays. Humans couldn't see their own stats and only knew that their Strength increased after using a Strength Crystal without knowing the exact quantitative increase.

The mysterious phone in Zhou Wen's hand not only allowed him to obtain dimensional crystals that others had to risk their lives in dimensional zones to obtain, but it also allowed him to see the numeric values of the dimensional creatures, himself, as well as the dimensional crystals.

This is going to have spoilers for up to ch 17. Go away if you don't want to be spoiled. GENERAL SUMMARY:The story begins at a sort of mid point after an event. The MC who is a certified genius at the high school he goes to got beat up by this girl who had no reason to beat him up. (turns out she is his step sister bc his dad is going to marry her mom. He also has a step brother that ain't friendly either) Now the MC discovered that a phone that was stored in their house and forgotten was a relic from ancient ruins that his grandfather helped in excavating. That phone allows him to basically raid dungeons with a game avatar and reviving the avatar only costs a drop of blood. However, all that the avatar collects in the game translates over to reality with benefits. Because of that, the MC keeps on playing that and sleeping so other people think that he got into a slump and gave up on trying. MC obviously proves that he is fine and dandy later on, but somehow no-one seems to be aware of that because his step siblings think he is trash and the other teachers are just unaware. Luckily there isn't too many side character that are rubbish. The step siblings tho... they just suck. OPINION: So I think that this story is worth a read. The MC has an apathy about him that makes him not really care about others except his dad so he sort of just strolls along in life while others seem to care a bit too much about details. However, this makes it really difficult to get a read on the MC, I mean he didn't care that his step brother basically screwed up his chance to be on a really good team for practical examinations. Like the personality of the MC in a phrase would be: calm to the point of being apathetic. The other side characters were reasonable and had common sense in their actions. Step-siblings not really tho. They are just out to make the MC miserable. The general world set up without factions and crap is really similar to shadow hack, modern cultivation stories, and dungeon raiding kind of stories. At a certain point in time, dimensional zones AKA dungeons appeared and monsters came out from those. Humanity adapted to it and now there are special abilities and other cultivation like crap that are present. Currently tho there seems to be no threat of monsters coming out or anything like that. That about wraps up the review.

This review is solely my own opinion. People who like these kinna crap usually post their 5 stars. Ppl who don't like it typically just drop the novel without any review. Thats why this kinna garbage gets pretty high ranking in my opinion. So i wanted to share my thoughts for any likeminded individual and/or for whoever cares. I haven't encountered such a spineless, retarded and prideless MC in a while. This dude got no self respect. I read upto ch 87 hoping it would improve but nope. His step sis-to-be comes to his school and beat his ass, his step bro-to-be tries to destroy his future and he is cool with it. He constantly says that he doesn't wanna be dependent on his new family and their status for self improvement but he takes everything they give him. Like EVERYTHING. His step mom marries his useless piece of turd dad to get to him so that he can use him to win something (i won't mention for heavy spoiler), he is fine with it too. His step mom literally tells him i am gonna take care of my own kids (understandable) before you but participate in tourney for me which i already enrolled you in without asking you to win the aforementioned something for my family. How shameless could you be to ask that from a step son who you met not even weeks ago? She didn't even ask his permission before she nominated him for such a dangerous task and his step siblings are vengeful abt it. He didn't reject her either and going by how it has gone so far. He will most likely accept it too. I am in ch 87 and MC hasn't even stepped up one realm. How else could author milk the money if he doesn't unnecessarily lengthen the novel under the guise of world building? Overall this guy is a marvelous little biatch and hypocrite. But go ahead and read if you like these and be your own judge. I am dropping it and i will remember the author to avoid next time.

overall 3/10 wouldn't recommend. Some light spoilers. I have read it to about 588. Writer is willing to come up with a lot of new ideas but he refuses to define them, it's very annoying, for example when he/his pets get a skill his useless phone doesn't explane what they are they, he leaves them ambiguous to define them later as to what the situation needs. He gets a weird letter from his stepmother's father, he doesn't discuss it with her, why? no reason, later he finds out that he (his step mom's father) is stuck somewhere and his step mother is going to a dangerous place to find him, she asks the MC if her father left anything with him, he says no, why? nobody knows, does he even try to figure it out? NO, IT HAS BEEN MORETHAN 400 CHAPTERS! CMON MANNNNN. sorry I lost my self. the dialogue between the MC and the other characters is lacking a lot, for example when any character becomes a little bit more rational and starts to think and ask good questions the writer decides to shut them up with "sense they didn't tell me I can't ask them" line, like Huhh? it's just lazy and annoying. and jäk's arc was so irrational, brainless, stupid and trying too hard, he is an evil man he doesn't abide by laws and kills people left and right on a whim, with a lot of difficulty we were able to capure him and imprison him, now let's cut him a deal if he can capture a 16 year's old kid at the legendary stage and bring him over we will let him be free again to kill more people and cause chaos in this chaotic world. Lastly, why does no one question the MC's powers? they all treat it as a given, I think they know he is the MC.
