Andrea considered cooking something for herself since Kyle was running behind. It wasn't like she was incapable; she'd managed perfectly well before he took over her kitchen. He was just such a good cook… she knew whatever he had planned would no doubt be delicious.
Surveying the kitchen, she noticed a small number of fresh dishes in the sink, evidence that Kyle already had plans in motion.
It didn't look like there was any coffee brewing, though, which was fine by Andrea. She'd rather have something else anyway. Probably safe enough to prepare her own drink, so she grabbed her personalized A-marked carton of milk—not a large amount remaining—squeezed some chocolate syrup into it, shook it up, and sat at the counter to enjoy it straight from the container.
Something more about the scene caught her eye. It took a moment to process exactly what it was she'd subconsciously noticed.
