Chapter 38: Decision Making

At night, a man was sitting in front of a campfire with his eyes closed. He opened his eyes with a dangerous glint and said, "Found you, Isaac."

This man was none other than Alex.

"Tomorrow is his last day on Earth."

"Now, what should I do about Arcadia?"

"Although I said I would take care of it. The power and water on the ship are a minor problem," Alex stated.

"They will run out soon," someone remarked.

"What should we do?" Alex questioned.

"Let's ask the system about the power problem," Alex suggested.

"System, is there any power source with inexhaustible energy?" Alex inquired.

"Yes, host, there are many energy sources," the system responded.

"But I advise not to bring them into the world," the system cautioned.

"Why?" Alex asked.

"Host, unimaginable power tempts human greed. Power causes people to lose their rationality," the system said.

"So it's advised to acquire a power source that will deplete in decades," the system recommended.

Alex, who heard this, also pondered the situation. Yes, he was thinking naively.

Now, because of the undead, people have united. But once the problem's solved, they will start wars over resources. How could he forget such a thing? Human greediness is the source of all problems.

"So, system, are there any sources like that?" Alex inquired further.

"Yes, host, the Arc Reactor from the Marvel universe," the system replied.

Wow! The Arc Reactor, invented by Tony, aka Iron Man. This thing can power the entire battle suit and produce 5 billion joules. It is a perfect solution.

"System, how much does the Arc Reactor cost?" Alex asked.

"15,000 shop points"

"How many shop points do I have?" Alex wondered, having obtained a significant amount by killing zombies during the past year.

"1,000,345 shop points"

Wow! I have this many points. Well, I killed a lot of zombies in the last year.

"Buy it," Alex decided.

"The Arc Reactor is now stored in the inventory," the system confirmed.

Alex took out the Arc Reactor from his inventory and marveled at its power.

"It's unbelievable to think such a small thing can provide that much power," Alex remarked. "The technology in Marvel is far ahead of other worlds."

"System, what functions does the system fragment of this world contain?" Alex asked.

"I don't know, but it is a precious item for the host," the system replied.

Hearing this, Alex sighed and said, "After this trip, I have to travel to other continents. I hope to find them as soon as possible."

Alex sat there, contemplating how to manage the ship.

"If I remember correctly, there is the White Queen, the artificial intelligence in Isaac's lab," Alex recalled. "She is quite a good AI and would be a good fit for managing the ship."

Time passed, and soon it was morning. Alex noticed some flying creatures appearing around the camp.

"It's a good thing I came yesterday; otherwise, the group would have suffered heavily," Alex thought.

Using his powers, Alex caught all the crows that appeared and decided to deal with them before the group woke up. With a single thought, the crows burned to ashes.

"Killed 1245 mutated crows and obtained 1500 shop points," the system notified.

Soon, the group woke up and emerged from their vehicles. Kmart was the first to come out and noticed Alex sitting alone.

"Mister, didn't you sleep?" Kmart asked.

"I don't need to sleep, and I was dealing with some annoying creatures," Alex replied.

"What were those creatures?" Kmart inquired.

"You don't need to worry; I dealt with them," Alex assured.

"So, Kmart, do you want to go to a place without the virus and plenty of food to eat?" Kmart said excitedly, "Is there such a place?"

Who wouldn't want a safe place?

"Yes, I am going to take you all there," Alex declared. "Now, your group is going to make that decision."

"Really?"

After some time, Claire gathered the group, and, seeing that everyone had arrived, she began,

"I have an announcement to make. There is a place in Alaska where there is no virus. There is also food and other survivors. We have to decide whether to travel there or stay the way we are. This decision is too important for me to make, so I want to ask for your opinions."

"Those who agree with going to Alaska can raise your hands," said Claire.

After a brief discussion, all the members raised their hands.

"Then it's decided we are going to Alaska!" Claire announced.

Excited shouts filled the air, and Claire approached Alex, saying, "I hope you can keep your promise."

"Yes, I will take all of you there," Alex assured.

"But we don't have the resources to travel there," Carlos pointed out.

"There is no need for that. We are going by helicopter to Alaska," Alex replied.

"Where are we going to get a helicopter?" Claire asked.

Upon hearing that, Alex wore a mischievous smile, causing Claire to remark, "Alex, are you thinking of stealing from Umbrella?"

"Yes, Claire, you know me very well. Don't call it stealing; I am just borrowing them for something good."

"There is a base near here, and we are going to raid—I mean, we are going to ask them," Alex explained with a crazy smile, thinking of dealing with that annoying Isaac.

"No, you clearly said 'raid' them. Even though they are bad guys, why do we feel like you're the bad guy? And what's with your smile? Are we going to be okay with him?" the group thought as they observed Alex's smile.

"Alice, is he always like that?" Carlos asked, joining Alice's side.

"Yes, whenever we deal with enemies, his personality turns like this," Alice replied. "Sometimes I feel bad for them."

"Is he that cruel?" Claire inquired.

"Yes, it's a massacre. He won't give them any chance to fight back," Alice explained.

"What are we waiting for? Let's kill those sons of bitches!" Alex declared.
