Chapter — 38 The Fear Comes True

"Mister you should have told me earlier that you are also a craftsman, rather than buying this Bracelet I would have asked you to craft me a new one," Max stated, the old man was regretting for being careless earlier. Only If he hadn't said that he had crafted the bracelet himself right now Max wouldn't be pestering him to craft an item for him.

"Kid, I'm telling you that I don't do that crafting anymore. It's been more than a decade since I had made something, I'm sorry, kid but I really can't help you, why don't you go to the blacksmith store in this city they got some of the best craftsmen there and they will be able to make something better than this." The old man suggested and hoped that Max will stop pestering him and go there but unfortunately the old man was not aware of the fact that Max had already gone there but the store was closed and now the old man was the only option Max had got.

"Currently they are out of the city otherwise I wouldn't be here talking with you. Sir, can't you just make one item, just one." Max pleaded but the old man still doesn't changed his mind and refused him. "I think you should leave; I told you I can't do it and I won't do it. Now leave my store." The old man sounded angry and he made Max leave the store.

"I don't know why the old man was so stubborn about that but anyway I should thank him cause of him I got this bracelet and with the improve stats in my agility I'll be much faster compared to before, escaping from beasts is going to be a lot easier now." He had the skill Dimensional Travel to move faster from one place to another but it take up his stamina and because of this he can't use the skill unlimitedly, but having his speed improve is not going to take a lot of stamina out of him compared to him using his skill and with the additional speed his attack speed and reflexes are also going to increase.

"Where else should I go now?" halting his footsteps Max took a look at his clothes which were not too good, he was just wearing a plain white shirt underneath the leather armor and his pants were also dirty. "Should I get some clothes or is it going to be a waste of money? But I have a lot of gold in my possession currently, I think I can buy a single shirt and pants for myself." Deciding that he should buy clothes for himself, Max started heading to the nearest cloth store.

"Hello, can you show me something that will fit me?" Max said to the girl who was showing clothes to some other customers. After seeing Max, the girl felt a bit disgusted cause of Max's attire, but still, she was a worker there, so she had no other choice than to bring out clothes for Max and she started showing them one by one.

After spending around twenty minutes in the store Max come out of the store wearing a grey shirt and black pants, he had left his armor and old clothes in his inventory. After he had switched his clothes the girl who was feeling disgusted seeing Max at first, now had a totally different opinion about him.

"I think this much fun is enough for today, what else should I do or should I go back to the inn and ask Lucas when is he going to go for the hunt?" Max thought and after confirming that he really doesn't have anything else to do, he decided to head back to the inn and see what Lucas has planned for him and others.

Getting back to the inn, Max headed for Lucas's room and started knocking on his door, "Lucas, Lucas are you inside?" Max said, after some seconds Lucas opened the door. "Max, I thought you were touring the city. I see you have bought yourself new clothes, they look good on you but why did you come back so early?" Lucas asked.

"Yeah, I was touring the city. I had already visited most of the places in the city on the first day when we arrived here, so there wasn't really much to see around. I was thinking when are we going to head to the forest to hunt the beasts." Max said, but before Lucas could answer Max felt a sudden pressure coming out of the room, heading inside the room Max saw that the God crystal was releasing the pressure.

"Lucas, didn't you say that this crystal is not going to harm us when you bonded with it in the castle? So why is it acting strange now." Max was a bit afraid cause in the staring his system has already warned him to stay away from this crystal as it was dangerous. And now his fears were becoming reality, Max was waiting for a response from Lucas.

"The king and I were wrong about the crystal, we thought that we knew how to control it but now I have realized that after bonding with the crystal there are some other things that we didn't know about it," Lucas said.

"First of all, not only this crystal is absorbing my life force but now it also needs beast crystal to keep it stable otherwise it releases this pressure around it. And the other thing is that I think it's connected with something or someone, I am not sure what it is but I don't have a good feeling about it." Lucas stated.

"Does there's anything else or is this all of it?" Max was serious about this topic; his facial expression had switched from a cheerful kid to someone who had lived all his life-fighting in the war.

Lucas was hiding something more and that was clearly visible on his face, deciding that it should be right to tell Max about this. "I need to leave with this crystal, I think the other thing that is connected with it is going to come after it and I'm aware that neither I nor anyone else here will be capable to stop that thing. That's why I have decided that I'll leave the city with the crystal and go somewhere where far away from the kingdom to keep the people and you guys safe from that thing." Lucas said it out.

Hearing it Max was thinking about something and after some moments he opened his mouth, "Then to keep this crystal stable you will be needing beast crystals, right? I don't have a lot with me but you can have all of this." Max said and took out all the crystals from his bag. In reality, all of the crystals were stored in his inventory but he was opening the inventory in his bag, so Lucas won't know about his skill ability. In front of Lucas, there were more than ten crystals of different tiers and he was surprised that Max had that many crystals on him and what was more surprising was there were three Rare-tier crystals in them.

"When was he able to hunt the Rare-tier beast, I think these Hero guys have really a monster-level growth speed, Sometimes ago he wasn't even able to hunt Basic-tier beasts and now he was able to hunt Rare-tier beasts." Lucas thought, "Take this crystal and use them to keep this God Crystal stable. Are you going alone are you taking Donny and Ron with you?" Max said.

"They wanted me to take one of them with me but they will be more helpful to you and I don't wanna risk their life for my mistake. Now I think that bonding with this crystal was a huge mistake." Lucas stated, "I had sent them to hunt some beast they will be coming back at night and I'll leave then. I am sorry that I can't look after you even though I promised you that I'll keep you safe. I'm really sorry, Max." Lucas was feeling guilty for his actions but it was not totally his fault, he didn't know this otherwise he wouldn't have done that.

"You know Lucas, I think I was prepared for this moment that's why I was always going to hunt beasts alone cause I knew that you were going to leave in the future because of this crystal. It's just that you are going too soon but I'll handle it, even in my world I was living alone. I am going to be fine and one day maybe I'll be strong enough to make a change in this world. until then I'm going to remember you, my friend and instructor. Goodbye, Lucas." Max said that and walked out of the room; Lucas was left alone in the room.

Looking at the God crystal which was pulsating and releasing a pressure, Lucas picked up a crystal from what Max had left and gave it to the God crystal which stopped releasing the pressure after absorbing the Beast crystal. "I don't for how long I'll be able to keep this thing stable." Lucas thought and put the God crystal inside a different bag and the rest of the Beast crystal in a different one.

"Now that Lucas is going to leave tonight, I'm going to be on my own from now on. As for Donny and Ron I think shouldn't put them in any danger. I think I should also leave this city and head somewhere else after Lucas leaves." Max decided that he will stay in this city for some days more and now that Lucas is not going to be around him, he can do things on his own without any restriction.
