Chapter –35 I don't want to be a support

Heading deeper inside the Middle part of the forest max and bob were walking side by side, with bob being here; max was a bit relaxed. While this area was also a part of the Middle area but the atmosphere around them was a bit different compared to the part of the Middle area where max had been to. "Bob, isn't this place a bit spooky? Are you sure that we are going in the right direction?" Max was starting to get worried as he started noticing that their surroundings were different compared to the other places. The green trees and bushes that he was seeing in the Outer area were nowhere to be seen, only dried trees and skeletons of humans and beasts were scattered around on the ground.

"Yeah, we are going in the right direction, max. I always come to this area cause here all the beasts are at Rare-tier compared to other parts of the Middle area where you can encounter Advance-tier beasts sometimes and because of them you will end up wasting your energy on them. As for this place, we will only hunt for Rare-tier today we won't be going much deeper to hunt higher tier than them." Bob stated, hearing that max let go of the uneasiness he was having and continued walking with bob.

The whole area was dead silent, max wasn't able to hear a single sound in his surroundings, it was like no living thing lives in here. As max was trying to find out more about this place, bob stopped him, "Okay, we are here from this point on we will be seeing a lot of beasts. Don't engage in combat alone, I'll fight them you will be attacking as support." Bob described what max should do when they will face a beast here.

"What kind of beasts lives here, bob?" max questioned as he also wanted to be prepared as to what kind of beast he should expect here. Even though bob would ensure his safety Max knew that anything can happen when facing a beast, he just wanted to be prepared for the unexpected. "These beasts have snake-like bodies and their abilities are all related to poison. I also had prepared a lot of antidotes so you won't have to worry about getting poisoned by them." Bob explained, max was paying attention to bob words as he is also going to face these beasts here, even if bob had told him that he will keep him safe, max also had to grow he didn't want to always stay behind someone else while that person fights for him.

"Bob, I am thankful that you're helping me in hunting but I don't want to be just a support in the fight. I also wanna fight and become stronger so I can help others in the future. I'm not going to be a support for you but I'll be fighting on my own, you can help me if you think I'm in trouble." Hearing him bob was taken aback by that, as most of the time people just want to sit back and gain profit while someone else does the work for them by putting their life on the line.

"I don't know why he is like that but it's his choice and I won't be having any problem looking for him while I fight a beast on my own." Bob thought, "Okay, as you wish max but make sure you fight close to me, don't take the beast somewhere else to fight." Bob said to which max agreed instantly, cause max also knew that he can get into trouble if take the fight somewhere far from bob, as this was a new area to him, he doesn't want to meet any higher tier beast there and make trouble for both of them.

After deciding that both of them are going to fight the beasts alone, they both took out their weapons and got ready to engage in combat anytime. Max was holding his sword while bob was using the same spear that he had used to kill the Beast to save max that day.

While both of them were looking for a beast, bob saw a beast near a dead tree, which was around twenty meters ahead of them, as bob have told earlier to max. The beast was similar to a snake, its body was around five meters long and at the end of its tail, there was a grey feather attached to it. The beast's whole body was dark brown with some random grey spots on its body, it was resting near the bottom of a dead tree. After seeing that beast Max and bob looked at each other and without saying anything they just started to get close to the beast.

The beast was still resting even when max and bob were just twelve meters away from the beast. As both of them were getting close, max grabbed his sword and used Dimensional Travel to instantly close the gap between him and the beast. Bob was surprised that max would make the first move against the beast but remembering what he said earlier it was somewhat expected for bob. Seeing that max had appeared near the beast in an instant bob used his speed to close the gap at the same time. Sensing the presence of two invaders the beast woke up and dodged max attack but bob was able to hit the beast with his spear, splitting the beast in half from its head to tail and killing it in a single strike as he had done always and just like that the beast was dead and bob extracted the crystal form its dead body.

"How fast is he? I was able to close the gap because of my skill but he just did that with his physical strength." Max was amazed by the speed that bob just showed, he knew that bob was fast but didn't know he can be faster and still he doesn't know whether it was his full strength or not. "You didn't even give me the chance to fight that beast," Max complained as he saw bob was finished taking out the crystal and storing it inside the bag.

"Seeing you rushing like that I also feel like doing my best. I'll let you fight the next one, max." bob said, as he rubbed the back of his head. But finding the next beast was not that hard for both of them as they saw another beast like that rushing towards them. "Bob was right, there are a lot of beasts here compared to the previous places." Max thought as he dodged the attack of the beast by jumping to the side while bob also jumped to the other side.

Realizing that he had missed his target the snake beast turned towards the max, jumping towards Max direction the beast opened his mouth to use his teeth to attack max, this time max dodged the attack by jumping over the beast, he used his sword to attack the beast on its back and his sword easily slides over the beast making long wound on the beast body. The beast let out a cry in pain as he looked angrily toward the max, ignoring the pain from his wound the beast turned around and again go for an attack towards the max.

Thinking that he can just hurt the beast again in the same way max repeated the same move as earlier but maybe this time the beast wanted him to do that cause the moment max jumped over the beast, he was hit by the feather tail of the beast and he was sent flying in the other direction for fifteen meters and stopped when he hit a dead tree.

While all of this was happening, Bob was leisurely enjoying the fight between max and the snake beast.

"Damn it, this one hurts. At least I'm not bleeding from anywhere. Let's try something else now." Max said to himself as got up from the ground, the beast was also rushing towards max, the snake beast didn't want to give him any chance to attack him. The beast was fast but not fast, max just stood there and when the beast was just three meters away from him, he used dimensional travel to avoid the beast's attack and appearing over the snake beast max made a vertical slash with his sword as he cut down the body of the beast in half with a single strike this time. After that, the snake beast was still alive as max had spliced the beast from its abdomen, with only half of its body left the beast was not able to fight anymore and max killed it easily after that max took the crystal out of the beast and checked the system windows that had appeared after all of this.
