House of the Rising Sun

You know, I was fascinated with vampires when I was a kid. The thought of power and good looks made me want to be one. That is, until I actually became one. Suddenly Lestat’s musings of an eternity being lonely became too real. Waking up in a forest who would have thought I’d run into ‘that’ family. I’d strangle the one that sent me here if she hadn’t trapped me in a world full of bullshit magic, doppelgängers, and broody vampires. *Status: Complete* The rest of Volume 3 will be released on the 11th of July

First Blood

Taking over the world was near impossible when there wasn't much of a world to take over. Still centuries away from anything worth conquering I sat on the shore of the island contemplating my choices.

I could travel back to Mystic Falls and help out the Mikaelson siblings, that wouldn't help me in taking over the world. Not that I would really rule over the planet like some blood sucking overlord. I mean with eternity ahead of me I could literally do anything. Maybe I'd go to space or something, be the first vampire on mars. That would be something.

While thinking about what to do with the limitless time I had been given I wondered just how badly I could screw up canon. Morgana already had Silas atomized by a black hole. I took the cure, which didn't work on me. No doubt the Mikaelson siblings told Esther and Mikael about the strange man they had met in the woods that disappeared after going off to take a piss. That would probably change some things.

Sighing I lay back onto the gravel beach of the island. I could always just say 'fuck it' and explore the western US before settlers arrive. In the show the Mikaelsons were supposedly Viking refugees that were fleeing from a plague. I always found it entertaining that a Viking family would sound so distinctly british. They were a thousand years old or so by the time the plot for the 'Vampire Diaries' started. Using those facts I reasoned that it was about four or five hundred years before people would start flocking to the rest of the US. Speaking of, what the hell was a Viking village doing in the middle of Virginia, according to the show that's where Mystic Falls was. Plot holes in the show aside, traveling west seemed like a great idea. I could get to the gold rush before the damn miners could get to it. I would need some money if I wanted to 'take over the world' as I put it. Closing my eyes I fell asleep before I knew it, the sound of the water lapping at the shore lulling me into dreamland.

Waking up the next day I brushed off the dirt that had gathered on my clothes. I had an idea in my mind, if I ran fast enough I could probably cross the lake and get back to the mainland without getting wet. Grinning like a madman I posed like an Olympic runner before bursting forward. I let out a laugh that was lost on the wind, I was running across the surface of the water. I ran in circles for a bit before I had enough fun and skidded to a halt on the mainland. I had to have been traveling faster than seventy or eighty miles per hour. I knew vampire speed was broken as shit but without a way to accurately measure my speed I could only summarize that I was moving at least faster than a hundred or so miles an hour. In the show the vampires actually did blur around like demented mosquitoes. Though in real life I would like to think that it would seem like teleporting.

"Fuck I wish I had my phone with me so I could record what I look like when I'm running full speed."

I heard a twig snap behind me, the world around me spun as I turned and pinned the person that had snuck up on me to a tree. The woman looked at me with eyes full of fear. She had olive skin and long braided hair. A pattern painted in her face that outlined her eyes and nose. There was a bow on the ground where she had dropped it. Her heart was beating out her chest. The thumps grew louder the longer I held her to the tree. She was attractive, almost alluring even. A smell drew my eyes to her arm. There was a cut right on her shoulder where a branch had scratched her as I pinned her against the tree. I felt my fangs grow longer and my vision shifted. Her eyes widened in horror, the smell of her blood drowning out all my reasoning.

She screamed as my fangs sank into the soft flesh of her neck. I felt her hands claw at me as I pulled her in close. Growling I bit down harder, drawing more blood into my mouth. She screamed again as we fell to the ground. Her blood tasted like the sweetest nectar in the world. The burning in my throat slowly faded. Her struggling slowly grew slower and slower as I continued to drain her. Her voice had become a hoarse whisper. I felt some of her blood dribble down my chin. As she went limp in my arms the realization of what I had done came crashing down on me. My mouth left her neck where twin puncture marks marred the once smooth flesh. She had gone pale, her eyes still open. I didn't need vampire hearing to know that her heart had stopped.

I would have doubled over and threw up at the shock of killing someone if it hadn't been for the shouting in the distance. The shouting drew closer and I climbed straight up into the closest tree. I watched as more Natives came through the forest. A man rushed to the woman I had killed screaming and crying. A lump formed in my throat as I watched the grieving man clutch her lifeless body in his arms. The rest of the men scanned the area, bows and tomahawks out and ready. I waited for them to disappear, carrying the body away back into the woods. Jumping down from the tree I landed on my feet with a thud.

Her blood had tasted so good, I couldn't stop myself from draining her dry. I felt sickened when I realized a part of me enjoyed feeling her struggling stop once I drained her.

"The first one is always the best. Tell me, did she taste exquisite Seth?"

I spun around, Morgana was leaning against a tree, a smug smile on her face.

"I feel awful, I don't want to feel like this."

Her smile widens, and she snaps her finger.

"There, your pesky morality has been chopped off at the legs."

I felt the regret for killing the woman dissipate in my mind, I began to feel a sense of calm radiate from my chest.

"What did you do to me? I- I don't feel anyth-" my world flickered for a moment, all my emotions replaced with one feeling, thirst. "I'm so damn thirsty. Let's go find a camp to drink."

Morgana smiles from ear to ear as she offers me a hand, taking it as we disappear into the woods, the world blurring around us.
