14-year-old Jake was pacing back and forth in his room..
It was Abby's 15th birthday..
He was anxious.. Not sure if was ready to go to their place and meet their friends..
Abby was surrounded by many kids as it was normal for a bright kid like them to have many friends, yet they were still waiting for their best friend..
Their eyes lit up as soon as they saw Jake..
"You're here!!" Little Abby exclaimed as they waved at Jake, making all the attention of their friends diverts towards Jake..
"Uh hi" he nervously waved back..
Another reason why Jake never felt like he could ever fit in was because of his personality.. Unlike other kids, he never had any interesting stories to tell or stories about their family and other friends.. He had nothing to say and when someone else try to start a conversation with him, he would get nervous..
His voice was one of his biggest insecurities..
It was nothing new for other kids to find him boring and completely ignore him..
He didn't seem to mind it either.. He would rather just silently sit there and listen..
Now and then he would steal glances at his best friend.. He would stare at them, a bit longer than a friend would admire another friend..
He would get happy when they would talk to him and feel uncomfortable whenever they would get close to their other friends..
A 14-year-old would probably see it as 'My friend should only talk to me' but it was surely more than that .. It was the jealousy he wasn't aware of at that age because he never felt it before..
Although Jake tried his best to hide how he was feeling but still Abby could tell that their introverted best friend was getting tired—When no one was watching and everyone was busy eating, Abby quietly sneaked closer to Jake and grabbed his hand..
At first, he was confused about where Abby was taking him but soon a big smile appeared on the younger boy's face when he saw a small pillow fort in their balcony..
For some reason, it looked like a magical pillow fort—A magical place where all your wishes would come true..
Maybe it was the golden fairy lights making the fort glow or maybe it was just their warm emotions..
Jake walked in and Abby closed the door behind them..
"Me, Ash and Dad made it together!"
"It looked beautiful!" He said while admiring it..
"Wait here" Abby ran off leaving Jake confused once again ..
They came back with a Chocolate Ice cream tub which made the younger boy even more happy and excited than he already was..
Anyone would be willing to look at the sky for hours when it's full of bright beautiful stars but that wasn't the case that night..
There were only six or seven stars in the sky that night but they were bright and beautiful enough to make two hearts flutter with joy..
Leaning against each other covering themselves in a blanket, two kids sat in a pillow fort eating ice cream while looking admiring the sky..
It was simple yet special enough to two young hearts..
Abby told Jake about things that made their today special while he just listened quietly with a smile..
They were telling him about a new friend they made today..
"... And you know what he even got dimple! Hahah!"
"Even got dimples?" Jake repeated their words but they came out more like a question..
He pressed the thumb and middle finger of his right hand on each side of his cheek—He removed his fingers from his cheeks and then smiled and hoped he'll get dimples too but his big smile only made his cheeks look even more chubby..
Abby burst out laughing as they saw Jake's big soft chubby smile.. They couldn't help but pinch them making Jake lightly slap their hand away from his cheek.. His smile turned into a cute frown with a small pout..
When Abby noticed that he was sulking, they side hugged him, placing their cheek over his..
"Aaaa! Why are you so cute!! And soft!!"
Jake just continued sulking after rolling his eyes, which Abby noticed..
"Ok fine.. Yeah I do like his dimple but remember your squishy-cheek smile will always be my favourite okay bestie?~"
"Tch as if a care"
"Aw come on.. I know you do~" they said while rubbing their cheek against his..
"Stop.. Ice cream is melting.." he said..
"Oh no!" They said before stuffing their mouth with chocolate ice cream just to get a brain freeze..
"Aakkh!!"
This time it was Jake's turn to burst out laughing at Abby..
Abby continued telling him about the movie they watched last night with their family..
".. And then! You know what happened!?! Boom!!! There was a blast!! And and and there was fire everywhere!!! And and and the scene shifted zoooom!!!! to the main character and the evil guy was there toooo!! He went like.. aaaaa akhh khhhhhh aaaaak trying to kill the main character"
They placed both of their hands around their neck imitating the main character of the movie who was getting chocked to death.. They slowly yet dramatically fell onto their knees and laid down on the ground..
"And and and then he went... Blepp!" They stick out their tongue from the corner of their mouth, pretending to be dead..
"And then wooooshh!!" They sat back up facing Jake who was looking at them with a big grin and his eyes filled with admiration..
"The main character woke up!!!! It was just a dream!!! Aaaaa I'm so disappointed!!"
Once again Jake begins to laugh at Abby's dissapointed face..
"Ok, I get it but did it really have to be that dramatic? All that wooshh bleeppp and boom and aaaa's?"
"Yep that was absolutely necessary"
"You should go and become an actor or something" he said while laughing out loud..
"Nah it wasn't even that great~" he paused and thought for a second..
"But if I were to become a celebrity THAT'D BE SO MUCH FUN!!"
They again continued to imitate random actors..
Jake's stomach was hurting at that point from laughing too much..
He was happy—Truly happy..
