The boy woke up as a giant turtle in the Pacific Rim. This is a story about a guy with a good moral compass. If you want to read how MC destroys cities and sinks ships, then this fanfic is not for you. There will be no magical transformation back into a human. This is my first fanfic. English is not my native language, so I used a translator. In the first chapters, I used GPT for some paragraphs of text, but the result is not satisfactory. Then everything is manual work. I do not own the rights to the universe and characters in this story.
POV: Somewhere in the ocean, time skip 4 months
"Oh no! Again?" When I woke up, I felt that my body was bound by something. I couldn't move. Unpleasant memories flashed through my mind, but this time I wasn't so panicked. The second time it is not such a terrible event. As a man of experience, I quickly sprung into action, trying to break free from my shackles. There was a loud crunch as I tried to straighten up and stretch my limbs in different directions. It seemed that my body was covered with some kind of crispy film. It cracked and fell to the bottom of the ocean.
I was not happy. I didn't want to admit that it was like snakes shedding their skin. "Phew. Why am I covered in this shell?" Rising to my feet, I began to clean myself more thoroughly from this shell. With my hands, I tore out huge pieces from everywhere I could reach.
My carapace was quite itchy, and the more I moved, the more itchy it felt. "How do I scratch the carapace? It's so itchy!" I couldn't stand it. The itching became too strong. There were some rocks and humps around me, so I quickly swam over there.
Having found a suitable rock, I began to rub my back against it.
"Oh yes! It feels so good! Phew. What would I do if I hadn't found you, my friend, my dear rock." I joked with myself with great relief.
From the strong friction, quite large pieces flew off the rock, as well as from my armor. He was literally falling apart before my eyes.
I was like a bear scratching its back against a tree. The sounds of friction and crunch were accompanied by rhythmic body movements from side to side and squats.
Suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, I noticed something glowing not far from me. Turning my head there, I saw a small submarine. In an instant I stopped scratching and we looked at each other, holding our breath.
"You didn't see anything!" I growled at the submarine. In one moment, the searchlights he was shining on me turned off. "Don't think you've become invisible if you turned off the spotlights! I can see you perfectly! Where are you running off to? Great! I've memorized what you look like! If I see myself on the Internet, I'll find you!"
As I watched the sub move away from me, I continued to grunt, completely confused by the situation.
"Stupid scientists. They stick their noses everywhere. You can't even scratch yourself alone," I continued to grumble like an old turtle.
Leaving that place, I examined my body. It seemed to me that I became bigger. "Wow, wow, I've changed quite a bit!" My arms became larger and stronger, and the carapace split into smaller plates, allowing me to twist my body 10-20 degrees. The clearance between the plates allowed for not only body twisting, but also flexing and arching, and that was good for me. Lack of mobility was a big problem in Kaiju combat.
"But I can't hide my limbs in armor anymore. It saved my life last time." This loss saddened me a little. "I guess that's the price I paid for strengthening my body. Overall, I'm a little surprised that my body has changed. Is it some kind of mutation? Obviously the Kaiju are of alien origin, but the mere fact that my new body has the ability to evolve is a little off to me It's amazing. I was influenced by their blue blood? I remember in the second part of the movie 'Pacific Rim', the Kaiju blood was made into rocket fuel."
Thinking about it, I couldn't be happier. Being able to develop gave me hope to survive in this world. One could not deceive oneself about the safety of the planet. This world is at war with a powerful alien race capable of opening space-time rifts and traveling between dimensions and galaxies. If the aliens win this war, there will be no place to hide on this planet. "I can't fly to other planets, but where should I fly? Living on Mars is terrible, and flying to another solar system is so long that I will go crazy until I get there."
"My fire breath has also become stronger?" I found a suitable stone and set myself up to release the fire. I didn't know if it would work underwater, but I also didn't know how it worked, so it was worth a shot.
ROAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!
A red flame shot out of my mouth and headed in a rapid stream towards the stone. The water instantly boiled, creating turbulent currents of hot water all around. Hissing and gurgling sounds filled the watery space, and the poor rock, which was unfortunate enough to find itself in this situation, began to redden and crack.
The color of my flame was red at first, but the longer I let it out, the brighter the color became, taking on an orange hue. From what I know, the color of the flame indicates its temperature. The lighter the color, the hotter the flame. The coldest flame is red, and the hottest is white. When I found out about it, I was a little shocked. How can a yellow, hot sun be colder than a white sun?! The white sun looks like some fantastic source of icy fire, but it turns out to be a white inferno capable of melting anything that crosses its path.
On the other hand, I cannot judge the temperature of a flame by its color. If we take Godzilla as an example, then his atomic breath has a blue color, almost white. But this is called "atomic breathing". In theory, it should be radioactive. Although I don't believe it. Radiation is a very dangerous thing. It can be depicted as small particles that fly through favorite objects. If a person is in the path of a radiation wave, then these particles will fly through the person. It would seem that this is good - flew through and everything, but not everything is so simple. Flying by, they literally bombard human DNA, knocking out pieces of the code that is responsible for everything in the body, the color of our eyes and hair, and more.
Even a single error in the code can break the program, now imagine that this code is so broken that even the most experienced programmer cannot fix it. Man is lucky to have an infinite number of cells in his body, and each cell stores a 2 m long DNA chain. This is incredible. Therefore, it takes quite a lot of radiation to kill a person.
Also radiation affects the water in the human body. This happens when radiation interacts with water molecules and forms reactive acids inside the body. These acids can damage cells and their components, such as proteins. All this is very scary.
I have seen nuclear power plant shortcuts on the internet. In this video, various devices that work directly with uranium rods could be seen glowing with a bright neon blue light. And now let's remember Godzilla's "atomic" breath. A powerful blue stream of "radioactive" plasma capable of making a hole in the ground. It seems to me that if it was really a radioactive substance, then with such a glow there would be such a large dose of radiation that not only the people around would die, but also half the continent would become uninhabitable for many millennia.
Most likely, it is some unknown form of energy that resembles radiation, but is not. So why should I think that what I emit is fire? It could also be a form of plasma created by some energy source inside my chest. However, the fact that it changed its color to a more orange one suggests that it is very similar to fire and has similar properties and temperature ranges. I need to train this trait. My goal is to emit a white flame. That would be really cool and I wouldn't be afraid of Kaiju anymore.
"Although there was an acid-spewing Kaiju at the end of the movie." Goosebumps ran down my spine and cold sweat broke out on my forehead as I imagined my face dissolving into Kaiju acid. "I need to train more than just my fire breath."
The only idea I can think of is good old muscle training. In one anime, I felt the following words: "If you're sad - hit the makiwara, if something doesn't work out - hit the makiwara, if you want to quit everything - hit the makiwara. Only training will never fail." There was definitely something similar. Hard work always pays off.
Since I was an underwater monster, I could work with rocks, lift them, dig earth, swim fast, and train my fire breath without hindrance. It sounds great, but it's not that simple. It is very difficult, monotonous and boring.
But what I really wanted was to have my own home. Just living in the ocean or on land makes me sad. But I didn't want to just find some island and capture it. Nowadays, every island has its own owner, although it doesn't matter. Just living on an island looks somehow banal. It would be cool if I used my full power and built my own island out of big rocks. The sight of a majestic structure standing in the middle of the ocean, big enough to be called an island, made me dream. I could call such a building a home, and it would be completely mine, not borrowed.
But there is one problem. Even if I built a grand structure that could reach from the bottom of the ocean to the clouds, it would be useless for me. Why? Because if I have to sail away for a couple of tens of kilometers, I won't come back! This is the ocean! This place is worse than the desert. If I lose sight of my island, it will take me 1,000 years to find it. It is easier to build a building at each stop than to look for something that has already been lost.
My navigation problems are on an epic level, I thought wearily. "Maybe I can solve this problem. It should be possible. I refuse to believe that the ability of the Kaiju or the Titans to navigate through space is just a fantasy of the writers."
