[ Dio pov ]
After Diarmuid left to go deal with Assassin, I was left alone with the king of heroes in front of me, well more like above me as he looked down on everything and everyone, but still, I stood in front of the king of heroes.
Golden portals appeared behind him, making my small smile tense a bit. It is hard not to be nervous when you know exactly what is inside that treasury of his and while the plan I made is flawless, it is still hard not to get nervous in front of this sight.
Clenching my hands slightly, I calmed down and smiled.
"Let start then." I muttered, looking at him while raising my hands.
*Snap* *Snap* *Snap* *Snap*
In an instant, weapons of all kinds flew out of the portals in my direction, however they were intercepted by the trails of fire that left my fingers and exploded mid-air.
A screen of smoke was created between us and I used the chance to shamelessly continue my attacks. I didn't expect them to catch him by surprise at all, but at the very least they should destroy the roof and make him fight me on the ground.
"So you were aiming at the roof where I was standing?" said Archer, calmly falling to the ground. "Are you trying to put me on the same level as the rest of the mongrels here?"
Huh, I expected him to be a bit angrier, but this is much better I suppose.
"Not at all." I replied with a slight smile. "It's just that if you are too far away I won't stand a chance."
Archer continued to look at me amused as more golden portals appeared behind him.
Countless more weapons began flying in my direction, most exploding with my counterattacks, but some successfully hitting me.
There was however a slight problem, for him that is, now that I had my own Avalon I didn't even need to wait for the philosopher stone to heal me.
He raised an eyebrow at the speed with which my wounds disappeared.
"So you have more than just one trick huh?" he said with an amused smile. "Very well, continue to entertain me then!"
More weapons flew in my direction, more than I could possibly destroy or dodge, so I opted with the next best solution.
My eyes glowed red as I focused on the weapons coming at me, causing them to change course and avoid me.
"So you have even more tricks yet." said Archer, looking at me with a smile. "Very well, I will make you show them all to me before taking my treasures!"
The number of portals behind him kept growing and now reached at the very least a hundred, making a drop of sweat fall through my neck. "Oi oi oi, isn't this a bit too much?"
I stared at the hundreds of weapons that were flying in my direction with my eyes still active, surviving this would clearly need for me to step up my game.
Pouring more magical energy into my eyes than I have ever before, the entirety of the flying weapons stopped for an instant before they began flying around like pieces of a house during a tornado.
Deactivating my eyes, I felt Avalon instantly heal the stress on them.
"Good!" said Archer. "But you will have to do more than that!"
The amount of golden portals kept increasing, however this time they were not just behind him, instead they were all around me, creating a dome of golden circles with me in the centre.
"Sigh, this will be hard but whatever." I muttered as the slit on my forehead opened, revealing my third eye.
All my fingers turned into extremely long spears and all three of my eyes glowed.
The weapons from the portals were launched in my direction just as I began looking at them. Everything around me, including the weapons themselves, gained lines.
What followed was nothing short of a storm of absolute destruction with my claws and eyes breaking apart all the weapons Archer threw at me, which was possible to do thanks to my Mystic Eye of Death Perception, however it wasn't enough to come unscathed and Avalon's healing capabilities weren't enough to keep me from dying while being pierced by the dozens of spears and swords that I couldn't destroy in time.
"You have used your extra life already." said Archer, walking closer to me. "Take pride in the fact that you lasted much longer than even most heroic spirits would."
I smiled as I regained my consciousness. "I didn't quite expect to receive a compliment from the king of heroes himself." I said. "However, I am still not done."
Archer stopped walking and looked at me with a raised eyebrow. "If you keep going, you will die." he said. "The next time you won't have the extra life to save you."
"You really are amazing." I muttered while standing up, a slight smile on my face.
"You have truly done what you wanted. You have lived unrestrained, taking what you pleased and partying when you wished to. The only place that embodied those ideals relatively well was the Roman Empire or perhaps the king of conquerors, but even they fail in comparison to you."
Gilgamesh gained an extremely amused smile as he looked directly at me. "Hoh? I didn't quite expect a mongrel to be so understanding. Why don't you bend the knee and give me my treasures then?" he asked.
"Well, it is because I admire you too much." I reply in a sincere tone. "It took me a while to understand this, but what I hold for you is nothing more than admiration. As the greatest human to ever lived, I just can't wait to surpass you." I continue saying while removing my gloves as a smile grew on my face.
"If you tried every pleasure in your lands then I will try every pleasure on the lands past them, if you collected all the treasures in this world then I will go to the stars and turn them into my jewellery, if you conquered this world and became it's king then I will go further until everything that lies beyond belongs to me." I said, opening my arms widely.
"I will take everything that exists or die trying!"
Gilgamesh laughed for the first time since I got here. "So entertaining... I wonder how long it has been since I met someone so stupid yet so smart." his face suddenly turned serious. "However, it is impossible to surpass me. So wake up from that dream of yours and serve me."
"Not yet..." I muttered. "I refuse to wake up yet."
"I didn't ask for your opinion." he said while shaking his head. "I have already made the decision, so there is no room for objections!"
I small smile formed on my face as I remembered this very scene form the anime. I wasn't sure if I should feel flattered or disturbed that the way he asks someone to marry him and the way he asks someone to serve him are so similar...
"I refuse." I said while smiling.
"Just like when I asked you for my treasures before... you are still to shy to admit it." he said, still shaking his head with an amused and disappointed expression. "Well, it doesn't matter. You may answer incorrectly until you get tired, after all before you learn the pleasure of serving me, you must first understand pain!"
I stared at the countless golden portals that appeared around me and the weapons that flew in my direction while taking a deep breath.
The time is now or never.
Focusing my entire mind into one single thought, I summoned a unicorn form my reality marble and mounted it.
"Go!" I said, indicating it to run and avoid the incoming weapons.
Archer stared at me with an amused face as I avoided his attacks while mounting the mythical beast. "Not bad..." he muttered. "But not good enough!"
More attacks were headed my way as I jumped off my beast and indicated it to rush at Archer.
The unicorn ignored the weapons that pierced its body and headed at the king of heroes, however it fell before it could get to him, forcing me to jump from it and once again land on the floor, still with some distance form him.
"Sigh, I didn't quite want to use it but it seems there isn't much choice." I said.
"So you still have something else?" asked the king of heroes.
"I do." I replied with a slight smile and an awkward expression.
"Very well then." he said, pulling a sword out of his Gate of Babylon and pointing it at me. "Come, I will wake you up from those foolish dreams and show you the place where you belong!"
I breathed deeply and began chanting.
"I am the spark of all desires,
life is my body and death is my soul,
I am the corruption of all idealistic people
the owner of all treasures, given to me by those who bent the knee
and so, as I pray to God...
Bless my crown and give me the right to use what is already mine...
CROWN OF GOD!"
A golden crown appeared on my head as I stared at Archer before putting my hand on my chest and pulling out a golden spear.
"Gaé Buidhe!" I said loudly, activating the noble phantasm.
"What?!" said Archer, surprised by the appearance of a noble phantasm as he stared at me while narrowing his eyes.
"Get ready then!" I said, jumping forward and meeting his sword with my lance.
It was clear that neither of us was a close combat fighter. Archer kept creating portals while only occasionally clashing his sword with my spear.
I too barely attacked with my spear, instead I dedicated most of my attention to destroying the weapons he threw at me with my eyes.
It was more similar to the clash between him and Shirou in UBW than the way he acted throughout Fate/Zero, however it made a bit of sense when considering that my fighting style was closer to Shirou's than Iskandar's or Berserker's.
Our clash laster a minute at most and it was obvious that Archer himself wasn't taking this too seriously but rather enjoying himself as he tested me.
Jumping back, I gained distance before placing my spear back in my chest.
"Finally recognising that you are meant to serve me?" asked Archer as he noticed me without weapons.
I shook my head. "No, it isn't over yet." I replied. "However, I do think it is time for this battle to come to an end."
Putting my hand on my pocket, I pulled out two rings and threw them in his direction.
Grabbing them, he stared at them momentarily before smiling.
"You said it isn't over." he said. "Then why are you giving me my treasures?"
"Because regardless of the outcome, one of us will die." I said, looking at him seriously for a moment. "And I guess I do want you to have my treasures."
I chuckled a bit before continuing. "I will be able to say that I am the only person alive who crafted something for the king of heroes and he actually liked it."
Archer chuckled too at my words. "I see..." he muttered with the same amused look on his face. "The problem is that you won't actually be alive to say it."
A golden portal opened at his side and he placed the two rings in them. "Still, you indeed crafted beautiful treasures."
I smiled at his words and placed my hand in my chest, pulling out a black sword and getting into a stance.
Archer looked at me and the sword before nodding, clearly recognising who it belonged but also choosing not to ask how I had it. A golden portal appeared in front of him and out came a golden key, which he grabbed and pointed upwards.
"To be both a strong warrior and a great craftsman, determined enough to challenge the king of the world even though it is futile... I praise you, for your determination and your effort." he said as countless red lines appeared from the key.
"But haven't you understood yet that I, who belong to the heavens, am unsurpassable?" he asked while all the red lines came together, creating a small sun in front of him.
"Not yet." I replied, my Excalibur Morgan slowly beginning to glow. "I still haven't given up on surpassing you."
Putting his hand in the small sun, Archer pulled out a golden sword with a circular blade as he continued to stare at Dio.
"Take pride in yourself, Dio Salvatore." he said, rising the sword. "I shall remember you, not as someone who failed to fulfil his dream, but as someone brave enough to try and dream in the first place, even if he knew that I would stand in his way."
I smiled at his words. "Thank you for the praise, Gilgamesh, King of Heroes." I said, the sword in my hand glowing as I raised it above my head. "But it won't be me who falls today!"
That's right, it won't be me who falls today, after all you just signed your own death sentence...
He stared at me, his amused smile replaced with a sincere one as he too raised his sword above his head.
"I have prepared a stage worthy of you..." he said. "So awaken!"
Rays of red light flowed out of his sword as I stared at it calmly.
"Enuma-"
"I am sorry, king of heroes." I muttered as I stared at the strongest heroic spirit. "But you made a mistake, expecting a fair fight with a villain like myself."
Gilgamesh's eyes widened as he felt his body move without his command. Turning around, he stared at Kirei as the man rolled up his sleeve, several command seals glowing.
"By the command seal, I once again order you to kill yourself, Gilgamesh!" said Kirei with a smile on his face.
"You mongrel!" screamed Gilgamesh as he felt his strongest weapon get closer to his chest.
"By the command seal, once again I order you to kill yourself, Gilgamesh!" said Kirei once again with the same creepy smile on his face.
Gilgamesh's sword reached his chest. It was truly worthy of praise to see someone with so much willpower that even three command seals don't make him instantly obey.
"Goodbye, king of heroes." I said, staring at him with a blank expression.
"EX..." I muttered, the sword turning to plasma as red and black light glowed from it, illuminating the environment.
"Don't you dare you mongr-"
"CALIBUR!!!!"
