His heart raced as the notifications appeared on his screen. The realization that failure meant death only heightened his fear, making the situation feel even more intense and dangerous. His first quest wasn't as interesting as he thought it would be, but rather terrifying and life-threatening. The thought of facing opponents who were just as skilled and determined as him sent shivers down his spine. He knew that in order to survive, he would have to give it his all and strategize every move carefully.
Instinctively, he reached for his weapon, ready to defend himself against the onslaught of attackers.

A shot for each of the monsters changed the situation. The monsters were down, and the immediate threat was eliminated. There were all ordinary level 1 monsters; one shot of an ordinary handgun had been enough to eliminate them all.
Relieved, he took a moment to catch his breath and assess the aftermath of the encounter.

A notification sound rang out; for sure, it was for a reward earned for successfully defeating the monsters.

Nathan decided to exchange the EP with the 10-minute DSBs. A list of ten 10-minute DSBs with their prices was provided to Nathan. Each DSB had a different price, ranging from the lowest to the highest. The first and lowest DSB was a 10-minute 2x DSB, and it cost 50 EP. The last and highest DSB was a 10-minute 10x DSB; it cost 250 EP.
Nathan changed his mind, as he desired to get the highest DSB. He had a gun and was not going to have cross-combats with the monsters until he wasn't confident enough, and that's when the large DSB would be most useful.
At the moment, his total EP were 133, and he calculated that he needed an additional 117 EP to afford the highest DSB. Nathan decided to embark on a series of quests and battles to earn the remaining EP quickly.
He continued his journey through the treacherous forest, cautiously stepping over fallen branches and keeping an eye out for any more lurking monsters.
Suddenly, a creature that looked like a rock sprang out from behind a tree, startling him. It had a massive, metallic-looking horn, and its body was not different from rock.
"Scrutinize it," he muttered, his curiosity piqued.

Because of its body, it had a higher defense shield. It was weaker than the giant wolf he encountered the other day, but its defense shield was already the same as that of the giant wolf.

Two shots had been enough to get rid of it. It was still young and weak anyway, so it didn't pose much of a threat. He got 330 EXP and 16.5 EP for killing the rhino.
Nathan moved on, knowing that there were more monsters to deal with and more points to earn. He kept his guard up, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
He came across a hill that was barely covered by trees or grass. He decided to climb it to get a better vantage point of his surroundings. As he reached the top, he was amazed by the breathtaking view of the vast landscape stretching out before him.
At that moment, he heard a strange noise coming behind him. He quickly turned around, his heart pounding in his chest, and saw fat, big-legged lizards emerging from the thick underbrush.
"Cowy-lizard," he whispered to himself, recognizing the weird creatures.
Even though their plump bodies made them appear harmless, they were brutal and aggressive by nature.

The system was notified about a new quest to deal with the cowlizards.
They climbed the hill with surprising agility, darting towards him with surprising speed. He knew he had to act quickly to protect himself from their potential threat.
He picked up a stick from the ground, hoping it would serve as a makeshift weapon against the approaching cowy lizards.
The cowy-lizards were all of ordinary level 2, and their HP each was 100. He decided to give each of them a bullet and a hit to save ammunition. It was fortunate that Captain Aginy gave him the handgun; otherwise, it would have been hard for him considering his strength.
He shot one and struck it with the stick, causing it to stagger back momentarily. It didn't die; it needed two or more hits, not as he initially thought. The cowy lizard let out a screech, alerting the others to their comrade's distress.
With a shot and two hits to each, he killed three cowy-lizards and was out of ammo. There was one more cowylizard to take care of.
He kicked it, blowing it to the bottom of the hill. Immediately, he leaped and landed on top of it, pinning it down with his weight.
Whoosh!
The cowy lizard struck his legs with its tail, and he fell to the ground, momentarily losing his balance.
The beast leaped onto him; he caught it and threw it away with a swift motion. As he regained his footing, he rushed toward it.
He grabbed its tail and tossed it over a huge rock until it died, ending its threat once and for all. With a sense of relief, he took a moment to catch his breath before continuing on his way.
He obtained 960 EXPs and 48 EPs for killing four ordinary level 2 cowy lizards. In total, he got 3950 EXPs and 197.5 EPs.
"I'm close," he mumbled.
