Ch 3: One Little Step

Well despite being wildly different the Pidgey line and Starmie line have some moves in common

1. Hyper Beam

2. Giga Impact

3. Protect

4. Rain Dance

5. Rest

6. Sleep Talk

7. Endure

8. Substitute

Of these moves, the first three were expected as both types were combative pokemon that can go the distance and all three moves are always shown in high-level combat

The 4th move on the other hand I was not expecting

' I mean it checks out for Starmie but for the Pidgey line that move is literally helping it gain injuries, the rain will make both electric and ice moves even more effective though I guess it might be a nuisance for the ground and rock types but still not worth it in my opinion '

The 5th move was Rest which I knew would come as a package deal with Sleep Talk and I was right as both lines have the package move in their moveset

But the rest of the moves weren't something that I remembered at all, I mean aside from Rain Dance most of the moves I could reason out but

the last two came as a shock to me even though they make sense when I saw them on the pokenet

' You know what? let's just call it the internet!! '

But the last two moves Endure and Substitute were something I could work with because these two moves were something I didn't need to worry about at all

' I mean I can't just teach every bird that's coming offensive moves. What if the entire flock decides to Hyper Beam some poor bastards or ram their heads out with Giga impact. Hell, what if their Rain Dance cause some serious climate changes causing slides and shit? I ain't dealing with that '

Yes, I had concerns about this arrangement but needs must be met so while I'm willing to bend I'm not being broken, Originally I planned to share the moves Rest and Sleep Talk

' When Psy can guarantee a pokemon's mentality let them learn Hyper Beam with Psy '

Because while I'm sure that there are more moves that the two lines could learn from each other... Psy has to know it in the first place

Of the list, Psy knows the moves Rest, Sleep Talk, Hyper Beam, Endure, Rain Dance

To break it down aside from three moves the rest are moves that I have issues with teaching but Psy thinks that Substitute can be learned before the next meeting, at least that's what I think as Psy admonished me for 'thinking too far ahead' 'if needed can be done within days' and considering Psy has been training again I guess I'm not that far off with my belief

Though Psy cautioned me to be very discreet about this as even the simple moves teaching could be terms for separation from me if this gets out as it can upset the balance

' And Psy green lit my idea of considering personality before teaching offensive moves as well, though even the idea of us getting caught and being separated from Psy is terrifying '

I haven't broached the subject yet but it's been floating in my head what would happen when I left for my journey

' I don't mind Psy coming at all, I actually prefer it. But Psy doesn't seem to act like that's what the plan is and I just don't know what to do. '

Had it been anything else I wouldn't be so indecisive but I don't know how to broach this subject yet, I don't know what path this is gonna take but I hope that this ends well. I'll broach the subject after I know more I guess, because I can't narrow it down

But I should focus more on today's problem

' Yes, I shouldn't wait and just get it over with but... but I don't want any cog in our relationship now, maybe I'm overthinking but not now, just not now. '

I guess today's problem would be to prepare for what to do if Talon would bring any other flock leader than just his kind

I doubt it but it never hurts to be prepared. So I researched about the fearow but pretty much the same move set which isn't that surprising

Then it was me trying to think about ways to make money because if the flock leaders agreed with me then I would need more money just In case

Because I was thinking, I'm not just entrusting this task to one flock but every flock about to migrate and not everyone flock takes the same way.

What if they brought the same pokemon in massive numbers back, I can't ask them to go back cause I'm the one that called them in the first place and that is a legitimate concern because pokemon like starly line and talonflame line is to the region as pidgey line is to Kanto, common.

So I wanted to minimise possible miscommunications and thus errors while ensuring maximum gains

I thought of entrusting one pokemon to one flock and so on but I don't know if they will agree with me in the first place much less the number of flocks that will be taking flight

But I believe I might need to restrict my wanted list by quite a bit, which might not be a bad thing as I don't want that many eyes on me as well.

So I guess I should restrict that list to the light weighted pokemon or able to fly pokemon

This is hurtful as some of my wants are heavy as hell and landlocked but the ones left still seem a little long for my tastes but I don't want to cut it down further

Right now I'm thinking of the baby pokemon Togepi and Toxel because both are my favourites and great for battling, believe me, I have great plans for a Toxel and Togetic is a fairy as well so win-win

Originally I was thinking Starly, Fletchling, Dreepy, Noibat, Swablu and Beldum but on second thought there isn't anything to change on this list as the reason is obvious

Though if I have to pick between Starly and Fletchling, I'll choose Fletchling because I'm thinking of the air lens technique from Traveller and Talonflame with its typing will find it much easier to do it than others

' At least I think it should be a lot easier '

Dreepy because it's a ghost and also a dragon which makes it something that I really want to work with and the Noibat and Swablu are my desire for a dragon coming out and everyone knows the awesomeness of a Metagross

But Swablu and Beldum are often in groups and there's a greater chance for a definite choice than the others as either they wouldn't leave the nest or really want to leave the nest because I expect pokemon to have flights of fancy as well

And as for landlocked pokemon, the criteria would have to be light and herbivore ' Because a carnivore on a long flight full of things it can eat is just a bad choice especially when it's being carried by said food choice '

So I'm narrowing down my choices to Treecko, Snivy and Seedot . Aside from Bulbasaur and Tangela I don't see grass pokemon I can work with and as Bulbasaur is highly protected in this region and I know where I can get Tangela, I've decided to roll the dice

Treecko colonies can be found in the wild in great numbers as we know from the show, Snivy generally are lone pokemon and Seedot is the compromise if they can't find either

And that's my plan, make the flock inform these pokemon while they start their journey and pick them up when the flock comes back to Kanto. This way the pokemon gets time to think and its friends/family can also help make its decision

' And that's the best I can do. Now let's hope everything comes together '

Oh, I can see it. The flock returning with pokemon in tow some shiny, some big.

' You know what, let's print out a shiny gene Pidgey, Giant gene Pidgey as well to make a point '

So that was the flock done with and now to prepare for the pack in the forest

' It's going to be a long day '

Turns out arcanine can use Hyper Beam, Giga Impact, Endure, Protect and Substitute as well so that's three birds with one stone I guess

But regardless of my preparation I did feel nervous when I walked into the clearing we agreed to meet up with Talon and we arrived early, mainly because we didn't know when they would arrive as we didn't exactly decide on a time seeing as how spontaneous things happened

And I dipped into my meagre savings just to bring enough berries and pokefeed for this occasion, sure both of them was not the highest priced kind but free food is free food

' I know for certain that Psy agrees with me '

So we were prepared for waiting the whole day if needed but was hopeful that Talon would bring them before the moon graced the sky. Thankfully Talon and his entourage entered the clearing when the sun was at its zenith

' Which was just perfect. I mean I'm not as nervous as I were in the beginning and practised for several possible scenarios in my mind while waiting for them '

And the wait was fulfilling because even if none of them agreed with me Talon appeared with 5 Pidgeots and several Pidgeotto and most importantly with 3 Abra in tow

While the Pidgeotto and Abra didn't look that impressive the Pidgeots deserved admiration from me, the youngest of them based on size alone was equal to a trained one

' Which is amazing as most Pidgeots of that size mean great care in both training and nutritional intake. That means that even the youngest of them was strong enough that he could get the same development in the wild!! '

And the rest of them were even more impressive with their gleaming talon and golden plumage with their beautiful crests that even the scars that adorned their body only added to the charm instead of diminishing it. But before I could begin to introduce myself we were interrupted as the elders of the pack arrived, silently enough that I only learned they had arrived because the flock leaders eyes changed from my location

There were only three Arcanines and a standard arcanine itself is amazing both aesthetically and physically with a certain dignity to their presence, a dignity that allowed them to be regarded as legendary even though they were not, a respect that even pseudo-legendaries did not acquire and thus a normal individual would find themselves awestruck in their first meeting with these beasts and I was no different

But thankfully Psy nudged me and started introducing us so that things could get rolling and I pulled myself together as best as I could all the while distributing the things we had brought among us, but none of them seemed that impressed at that move

' Or is it paranoia? '

In which case it isn't really paranoia as there are things out to get them so I guess-...And I'm cut out off my musing as the flock leader chirps at us to 'start the damn thing'

Boy am I glad that Psy is going to be here because while the pokemon can understand my words and their meanings, I'm stuck blind without any physical representation
