Chapter 1

A/N - 1250 words

Well, that was one way for things to go.

Kenric muttered as he looked at the ongoing battle in front of him, what did he even do to end up in a situation like this? He muttered drawing his swords and looking at the approaching darkspawn that ran at him.

All he wanted to do was go on a horse ride but here he was just leaving one of the villages of Ostwick it ended up getting attacked by Darkspawn being led by a Hurlock Alpha while the other Hurlocks rallied around it, there were around 20 of them rampaging through the village as the pitiful guards tried to fight them off,

'Disgusting fucks' Kenric cursed as he wan at the darkspawn to distract them from the guards he cut the Hurlock one after another and the twin blades started dancing through the group as his blades cut through the darkspawn spilling their poisonous blood on the ground tainting it for years.

Keeping his mouth shut Kenric blocked the attack from the Hurlocks before pulling one in front of him to block an arrow from the archers standing at the back.

He stabbed his blades through the Hurlock who had been stuck by friendly fire slicing its neck off just to make sure it was dead as he moved towards the guards who had started gathering together to allow the villagers to escape.

"Sir Kenric?!" One of them who recognized him shouted as Kenric smiled chopping the hand off the darkspawn that attacked him before throwing it back at the guards who subsequently stabbed it to death.

"Take care of the villagers the reinforcement should be getting her..." He was still saying that when a roar interrupted him as he looked behind the oncoming darkspawn to see the Alpha making its way towards them.

"Well fuck.." Kenric muttered as he saw the darkspawn get excited since their leader had appeared to fight the tricky foe.

seeing the horned helmet and the crude greatsword on the darkspawn Kenric cracked his neck, it wasn't like he could run in such a position like this there were around 12 remaining including the alpha.

"We will keep it busy, sir! you need to leave" the guard yelled as he stood in front of Kenric the others followed behind the guard and encircled Kenric protecting him from the darkspawn Kenric didn't know whether to laugh or applaud their courage after all in terms of fighting prowess he was way ahead of them.

"It's fine, I can hold my own here. moreover, the templars should be reaching here soon," He spoke as the guard wanted to say something but seeing the gaze of Kenric he hesitated.

"Protect the people I can handle a Hurlock alpha, "

"We will help y..." the guard tried to speak but Kenric just smiled at him.

"You will get in the way, be a good soldier and follow orders" Kenric replied as the guard felt odd it was clear he was telling the truth but it was his pride that didn't want to allow a fifteen-year-old to fight in his stead.

But he just gritted his teeth and obeyed leaving Kenric to face the Darkspawns,

"Shall we get started fuckers?" Kenrci spoke as the party roared at him and charged only for Kneric to dash to the right into one of the houses as the Hurlocks chased after him the first one to rush through the door had his neck stabbed before it could even react while the second one swung his its ae at Kenric who ducked and ran for the second floor kicking the darkspawn that tried to follow him, he waited for the incoming darkspawn before climbing out of the window onto the roof.

The Hurlock tried to go after him, yeah tried only to get kicked off and break it's neck as it fell head first into the ground, should he have yelled

'This is Ostwick!!' while kicking darkspawn off the roof....eh he might do it next time he smiled as he dashed dodging the rain of arrows from the archers aimed at him jumping from one roof to the next as the darkspawn chased after him but fell down or were slow as Kenric started slowing down just enough to be out of reach yet be close enough for them to keep making the effort,

Keeping the Alpha here was also important since if he went for the escaping villagers Kenric wouldn't be able to deal with all of them and go to their aid so the best option run around until his sister got here.

There were nine after him as he ran but then he heard the swishing of a blade he looked at the source of the sound to see a great sword flying through the air towards the wooden he was going to land on, that fucking alpha was smarter than he thought Kenric Braced himself landing on the roof just as the greatsword tore through the house collapsing the already weakened structure under Kenrci's feet as Kenric didn't bother as he immediately turned around and sliced the Hurlock jumping down at him and dashed into the narrow alleys avoiding the odds and the rest seven of them chased him this time including the Alpha and archers who had previously remained on the road keeping an eye on him from the outside.

tch, Kenric clicked his tongue, he hadn't been born into this world as a second chance just to get killed by things like darkspawns.

He ducked to the right stopped and stabbed the first unfortunate darkspawn to come around the corner before running away and repeating.

Thinning out the remaining as soon what remained was an extremely tired Kenric and an enraged Hurlock Alpha,

Hah, Kenric breathed out as he was really too tired to even run anymore,

"Oi can we take a break and then continue?" Kenric asked but instead of a reply he got was lunge from the Alpha which he subsequently dodged, the Hurlock roared at him and since he didn't have his great sword anymore he just rushed at him with his fists.

Facing a Hurlock Alpha even fully prepared would be a little tricky for him so right now all he could do was buy time.

The Hurlock charged at him Kenric heard the snapping of a bow string as an arrow buried itself into the Hurlock's back, already enraged It turned towards the archer that stood on the road wearing grey armour with a sword symbol engraved on the torso, the Templars were here so if he was correct so should his sister be here.

"Templars save the bloody Idiot!" Kenric heard the shout of a woman as he smiled and sat down while the templars fought the Alpha a few meters away with a red-haired woman leading the charge

The Templar were too much for the Hurlock who fell to their blades.

Good time to run away, Kenric thought as decided to slip away.

ack! It was then that somebody grabbed him from the back,

"Where do you think you are running off to?" the red-haired woman glared at him.

"Oh hey, sis didn't see you there!" Kenric spoke as he tried to wriggle out of her grip but was unsuccessful to say the least.

He stopped struggling as they both stared at each other.

"haha you are looking more beautiful by the day... ugh" and that was the point he lost consciousness.
