Chapter 11: Gangsters

As Lin Fan was still thinking about how to handle this, Liu Yue who had gone away with her papa had changed her expression.

At first, while looking at Lin Fan, she still had a look of fear, but once Lin Fan was gone, that fear slowly turned into a wicked smile.

It wasn't just Liu Yue who was acting strange, it was also her papa that acted strange.

The man kept whispering, "Yue'er, Yue'er, Yue'er…" All while he was walking along the street.

But Liu Yue completely ignored this as she said to herself, "It seems like I finally found another one to take the bait. Now, let's see how well this one will do…"

There was a smile that was the complete opposite of the innocent look that Liu Yue had earlier. This was a smile that reeked of sinister intentions and the more she smiled, the more terrifying she looked.

It was a good thing that this wasn't what people were paying attention to, rather they were all trying to avoid the attention of the red haired man who looked like a gangster.

As Lin Fan was left standing there, he began formulating a plan.

There was no doubt that this would be a dangerous thing since it was a quest from the system. Every quest from the system involved a girl who had directly or indirectly caused his death in another world, so what he needed to do now was make a plan to avoid this while also saving Liu Yue.

The first thing Lin Fan did was save.

He had learned the importance of saving from the first quest and after he had finished it, he had also unlocked a new feature.

This new feature allowed him to choose saves that he could reload from, which meant that it was imperative that he saved as much as possible, giving him even more options.

The second thing that Lin Fan did was search up the address that he had seen in Liu Yue's status screen.

This was the second most important thing that he had learned from the first quest, it was that he just had too little information. He didn't know a single thing about Chu Chu, but she had been able to sneak into his house in the middle of the night and kill him like that. It was clear that without any information, he wouldn't even know how he lost his life.

But when he searched it up, Lin Fan didn't get any results back on this address. All it showed on Baidu Map was that there was a karaoke bar, a restaurant, and an internet cafe at that location.

It didn't make sense since Lin Fan was certain that the address function was correct since Lin Fan had already tested it with Murong Yue.

After not getting any information from his search, Lin Fan decided to use another method.

After a few rings, Murong Yue picked up.

When she did, Lin Fan asked, "Hey, do you know anything about 10XX Water Road?"

Murong Yue immediately asked, "Why are you asking about this?"

The fact that she answered with a question made it clear that she did know something about this.

The reason why Lin Fan called was because that area was where Murong Yue was stationed, so if there was anything special there, she would definitely know since she was a part of the police.

Lin Fan just said, "I have a friend who wants to meet up there and it seemed off, so I was just asking about it."

Murong Yue was silent for a bit before saying, "That's not a place you should be going, it's a dangerous place. Promise me that you won't go."

Lin Fan didn't promise right away, instead he asked, "What do you mean by dangerous?"

Murong Yue just said, "Promise me that you won't go."

Lin Fan was surprised by how firm she sounded, so he couldn't help saying, "Alright, I promise I won't go."

Murong Yue then said, "The people there control that part of the third ring. It's a place that people go for fun, but with your luck recently…"

Lin Fan revealed a bitter smile when he heard this.

She was right about one thing, his luck really was something…

Lin Fan quickly made an excuse and immediately hung up.

Even though he promised Murong Yue that he wouldn't go, he had no choice but to go still since he had accepted the quest.

The first quest had proven that once he accepted a quest, it set events in motion and even if he didn't do anything, he would still die. So he had no way of being passive, he had to do something or he would definitely be killed.

But it was funny since it turned out that they were gangsters. The father looked like a gangster and acted like a gangster, so it really wasn't a surprise that he turned out to be a gangster.

But that also made it much easier for him,

For his goal of protecting Liu Yue and her mother, he had to find a way to give them enough courage to leave the gangster father. However, that wasn't easy since he was a gangster, so the only way to do that was to turn him over to the police.

That was also hard since as Murong Yue said, they were a gang that were well known for controlling an entire area in the third ring, which meant that they must have the ability to avoid being arrested. Lin Fan would have to infiltrate deep into their hideout and find some evidence that would allow them to be convicted, which was definitely dangerous.

Still, Lin Fan was confident in doing this because of one single thing, his system. Or to be more precise, his save and load powers.

But using those save and load powers, he could fearlessly search in places where normal people wouldn't dare search because they would die. That wasn't the case for him since he could come back to his last save point after dying.

After saving Murong Yue, Lin Fan knew just how powerful this power was and this time he wasn't going to waste them.

It didn't take him long to reach the address and what was there was a large building.

Based on how tall it was, Lin Fan estimated that there were around fifteen floors, but when he entered the lobby, he only saw that there were listings for thirteen of the floors. There were various entertainment businesses like he had seen on Baidu Maps, but there weren't the floors that he wanted to see.

It wasn't hard to guess that these were the unlisted floors.

The floor that should have been at the top of this building should be the penthouse that Liu Yue lived in, while the seventh floor that was missing should be the office of the gangsters. Since this was the building that they had set up their office in, it meant that they should be the ones that control this entire building.

Still, no matter how he looked at this building, it seemed like a very professional building.

There was even a pretty receptionist who was sitting in the lobby, answering questions for people who came into the building.

Lin Fan had no idea where to start, especially since he was sure that the father gangster should also be sending his men to deal with him.

But when Lin Fan had hit this dead end, the system suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

There were three options that the system was giving Lin Fan.

1. Search the office.

2. Sing some karaoke.

3. Get some food.

None of these options seemed like a good option to Lin Fan, but since they were options that were given to him by the system…

He still had loads to play with, so that meant that he could test the waters. Since that was the case, he should probably choose the option that was the most on the nose and search the office.

But before he did any of that, the first thing Lin Fan did was create a save point just in case.

Then Lin Fan thought in his mind, "Search the office."

It was not like before where Lin Fan had lost all control of his body and the system moved it for him, rather this time, there was a 3D map that appeared in Lin Fan's field of view. It provided him a perfect route to the seventh floor which was where the office was located.

Once he had this map, he immediately went to the elevator and headed to the fifth floor where a point had been marked on the map.

But what he didn't notice was that when he went into the elevator, there was someone who was watching him.

It was the receptionist at the counter and underneath the counter, there was a picture of Lin Fan. It was an old picture of him, but it was still enough to identify him by.

Once he entered the elevator, the receptionist picked up the phone and made a call. As soon as it connected she only said two words, "He's here." As soon as she said those words, she immediately hung up the phone and went back to her normal job.

Lin Fan reached the fifth floor and followed the map until he came to the room marked on the map, which turned out to be a bathroom.

Once he was here, the map changed forms and became a 3D layout map of the bathroom with a single part of the room letting off a glow. It was a vent that was above one of the stalls.
