Part 3

William P.O.V

I sat in my car outside Kristen's house while feeling a mix of nervousness and longing. I wasn't sure why I had driven all the way to her home, but he couldn't shake the feeling that I needed to see her. Part of me wanted to turn around and leave, to protect her from me. But another part of me, the part that yearned for her smile and her touch, urged me to stay. I struggled with these conflicting emotions as I waited, my heart racing with anticipation and my mind foggy with doubt. Her scent is alluring to my heart, urging me every second to have a taste of it. But one thing was certain, I was there for a reason, and I was determined to find out what it was. I must stick to the plan and should be very careful around her. I shouldn't get close to her.

I was attracted to the alluring rhythm of her human heart and the humming sound of her voice. I can hear it from a mile's distance. It sounds like thousands of drums pounding at the same time. The urge to see her was making me insane, even though I just met her a few minutes ago. Her vanilla scent was intoxicating. I parked the car a few blocks away and circled her home, looking for a way in without getting caught.

I noticed the lights in her room were turned on and slowly climbed the pipe to her window, listening to her soft voice humming a song. God, I felt so stupid for acting like a teenager.

The scent of her urged me to break the damn door of her bathroom and taste it. Don't lose control. I said to myself repeatedly and climbed inside. She doesn't know who I am, and she must never know until I take her back.

"William!!!" She gasped, clutching her bath towel tightly to her chest. She stood frozen in the doorway of her bathroom, feeling embarrassed. I felt little guilty for invading her privacy and I knew I shouldn't have sneaked into her room. I couldn't resist the temptation to be close to her. Now, as she stood before me, wrapped in a towel with droplets of water glistening like diamonds, on her skin, dripping from her wet brown hair and slid on the curves of her legs and fell on the floor.

I gulped. I couldn't bring myself to look her in the eyes, knowing that he had overstepped a boundary and if I did look at her eyes I will lose control. He stammered an apology, trying to find the right words to explain his actions, but he feared that nothing he could say would make up for what he had done. I braced myself for her anger, for her to demand that he leave, but instead, she simply looked at me with a mixture of confusion and curiosity. I waited with bated breath for her response, unsure of how she will react.

"William? What are you doing here? How did you get in?" I asked with my hands on my hips. Why did you climb through the window instead of using the front door like a normal person? My eyebrows furrowed in confusion and suspicion.

William shifted nervously under my gaze, feeling like a mischievous child who had been caught in the act. He tried to come up with a plausible excuse, but his mind was blank. He couldn't tell her the truth – that he had been consumed by a desperate need to see her and be near her – because it would make him sound crazy. Instead, he stumbled over his words and then he pulled out a chair and sat there folding his arms behind his head casually like he is not an intruder. His button-down shirt stretched over his muscles and exposed his toned abs. I gulped when I realized I'm standing in front of him with just my towel which hardly covers my lower body. "I missed you." He said and winked at me like how he did in college.

"What?" I stammered looking at him sceptically, and I didn't fully believe him.

"I never thought I would get to look at you like this." He said scanning my body slowly as if memorizing my every feature. My face turned scarlet red, I grabbed my PJs, and T-shirt and rushed inside the washroom to change.

When I got out of the bathroom, he was gone, as if he had never been there.

"William!" I called out, slowly stepping out of my room. I rushed downstairs and found the door locked inside. "William," I called again, scanning the entire house. He was not there. I unlocked the door and stepped outside; the road was empty.

"Is it a dream?" I wondered and went inside. But how can a dream be so real? I went to my room and saw the window shut as if it had never been opened before. Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me.
