Chapter 4

Jaspers’ POV

‘’You guys, remember when I told I will check some books out? Well, check this out.’’ I pulled a book with this hard cover and showed the boys an old painting of this royal wolf family that used to rule at some point over 1000 packs, everyone bowed down to them, their family name was Cromwell.

‘’ So, you mean to tell me that she, the one standing there, is related to the Cromwell family our parents used to talk about? A right descendant from this line is on our couch?’’ Malik was stunned.

‘’ From what I read, they mostly only had pure bloods in the family and their line grew with every year. Her great great grandmother had eight children, five boys and three girls. One of them was her great grandmother, which means that her grandmother mostly gave the rune to her because of who they actually are. If you look closely, around her great great grandmother’s neck is a necklace with that exact same design.’’

‘’What happened to them?’’ asked Bruno.

‘’ It is said that uncle wanted the throne more than anything and he was ready to kill his own brother and his nephews just to wear that crown. He planned a riot among the packs, and with him leading them they entered the castle and burnt it to the ground. Everything was destroyed along the way, most of their family heirloom portraits, paintings, only a few made it out of that fire. The only survivors I presume were the uncle and her great grandmother, who at the time it was speculated she was in love with a lord.’’ I explained. ‘’ It is said that the crazy uncle was able to grab the throne, but soon everyone hated how he ruled, so the kingdom split again into 1000 packs and chose their own path. He apparently found his mate and had three boys of his own, one who died in a riot with a pack of wolves and the other two who lived but vanished from the history book.’’

‘’ This explains everything now, you know that when we were younger it was said about this prophecy that the royal bloodline will rise once more and take back what was taken from them. The only question is, will she take over and make things right, or that freak of an uncle had other plans prepared and evil will rule once more?’’ William questioned.

‘’ I don’t know right now, maybe they will try to turn her evil. But one thing I know for sure, if she finds her mate and bond, it will be a lot harder to turn her dark, she will have someone to protect her and keep her mind clear.’’

I can’t help but wonder, what if Will, our William is destined to her. I see how their auras bond together whenever they talk and he never bonded with anyone before. Malik and Caleb are the only ones that have their mates now. It started exactly the same for them only it went quicker since their girls were already shifted into wolves. Maybe if she shifts the bon can be completed by both of them.

‘’ It may sound crazy, but I feel like that black werewolf might be either her uncle or her cousin. They must be related otherwise I have no idea why should wanted to go into those woods.’’ mentioned Will.

Cassandra’s POV

I woke up on un unknown couch as I heard multiple voices chatting. Holding my neck I plopped myself upwards and tried speaking. Trying to focus my blurred eyes I saw William’s face and then recognized the other boys.

‘’Wh-hat happened to me?’’ I murmured.

‘’ Well … um what do you remember?’’ Bruno asked.

‘’ I was in the woods and got attacked by that wolf…the black wolf…who got linked to my mind. OMG! and then there was you… it was you Will wasn’t I wasn’t dreaming.’’

‘’ Great, you remember all of it… I don’t know how to explain all of this without for us to sound crazy. But there is something about you Cass, you are just like us.’’ stated William.

‘’I know for a fact right now that you might be crazy, there is no way I am wolf, how you shifted…nope never happened to me.’’ I pleaded.

‘’For how long have you been drinking that tea of yours?’’ questioned Malik

‘’ For several years now if I have to guess maybe seven years. My mom makes it for me ever 2 days. She used to tell me I must drink for my health.’’

‘’ Well considering that a born wolf shifts for his first time at the age of twelve and you should turn eighteen in a couple of months, and you never shifted; you wolf is dormant and we must wake it up as soon as possible, you will need to learn to control it cause in five days from now there will be a full moon, and no way in hell you will keep drinking that.’’ Explained Jasper.

‘’What happened to my neck? How did it start to heal?’’

‘’ Your wolf Cass, is trying to help you..and also waking up.’’ William pointed at my hands. My veins started to turn a blue-violet color.’’ It’s you body, it doesn’t know how to react to the wolf since you guys never bonded, as in wolf and master. Unfortunately, we must coax it out which means involving pain.’’

I nodded, trying to wrap my head around all of this. Jasper grabbed my arm and directed me behind the house in the garden. With one swift move he cracked my entire arm and I whimpered in pain as I got down on my knees. The pain was unbearable and with another blow he broke the other one. He apologized but said it was necessary. I started seeing stars and was barely able to control my breath, but slowly I could feel a growl coming from inside me, from the depth of my soul and in a matter of seconds my eyes started burning. I left out the loudest yell I could and collapsed fully on the ground. Moments later my entire body shifted into wolf form and as I tried looking for the guys they all shifted into wolves as well.

They gave me a nod and encouraged me to run into the woods. I started running faster than ever, noticing with my senses everything that was around me , all the trees, the flowers, the smells. I could never feel more eliberated than this. It felt like home.

William’s POV

I couldn’t help but look away as Jasper broke her arms, we all knew we needed extreme pain to wake her wolf. Once we could hear the growl we stopped and gave her space, in a matter of seconds she shifted for her first time right before our eyes. The most beautiful wolf I have ever seen. Her fur was crystal white with blue hues and even some silver strands. She had a strong figure with a muscle build. Her eyes sparkled and I couldn’t help but link mine with hers.

We let her take a run into the woods and I was the only one to follow behind her, everyone gave us some space. After some time she stopped by a lake to take a look at her new form, she looked completely mesmerized by herself. I took a step closer and once she turned to me our eyes locked together. My wolf started growling and I could hear hers as well. With every second that it passed we got closer and closer until our tails locked together and our four heads were touching. That is when it happened, a light grew around us and it almost felt like we were levitating. The bond was complete. I just mated, I found her, never in a million years I thought she would be my one.Everything is so new, us , her, I have to teach her everything and also make our bond stronger.

‘’ I know you can hear me, what just happened?’’ she linked her mind with mine.

‘’ We just created our bond; wolves have their mate and usually they only mate once which me you were written for me and I for you. I know it’s a lot to take in but I am here for you, from now on you are not alone.’’

‘’How am I a wolf? Why did they lie to me, my parents my grandparents…’’?

‘’It’s much more complicated than that, I think they were trying to erase the past. When we get back, I will show you.’’

We started to get back to the den before we shifted back into our human state Jasper placed some clothes between the trees. I couldn’t help but turn around for a second and noticed a tattoo on her ribcage of a half-moon surrounded by some wildflowers she also had a half sleeve on her left arm, different patterns and lines that created a harmony.

‘’Wow, nice tattoos.’’

‘’ Thank you.’’ She smiled.

As we were walking back to the other, I couldn’t help but grab her hand in mine and walked together to the porch. We all sat down, and Jasper pulled the book so we could tell her what we found so far, doing our best to help her out.

‘’ If I am a Cromwell and this tale is true, am I in trouble?’’ I could sense she was concerned.

‘’ We don’t know yet, but your parents hiding what you are is not a good sign, neither the black wolf that likes chatting with you.’’ Jasper continued.

‘’ On the bright side, you two just bonded, mates forever!’’ cheered Caleb. I noticed her from the corner of my eye blushing hearing Caleb’s words.

She got up from the chair and went inside the house, her face looked troubled. She made her way to the fridge and picked up a water bottle.

‘’ Are you feeling ok?’’

‘’ I’m alright, it’s just too much to take in, I just shifted into a wolf, found my mate and bonded and on top of that I might be royalty. Two days ago, I had a boring pathetic life of a normal teenager and now everything flipped upside down; my parents are lying to me. It’s quite complicated don’t you think?’

‘’ I understand, but you have us, we are your pack from now on, and you have me. I am your mate and with every step you take I shall be by your side.’’ I said as I grabbed her hands.’’ You are not alone in this.’’
