Chapter 3

Cassandra’s POV

Once I saw the bracelet, I could not be happier. Ever since I lost I felt kind of unprotected. This class seemed very interesting since Paige turned into this angry dragon ready to take my head, oh well.

‘’ Cass, you are badass. The whole school is going to find out!’’ Irene explained.

‘’ That is one thing I am worried about. I just want to left alone by her.’’

As we took a shower and changed I could sense Paige’s presence next to us but she did not muster any courage to talk, she only nodded and left the bathroom. I have a feeling it’s no over but for now I can be relieved.

After all that hustle, they call gym class I went out the door with Irene who kept talking on and on about Jasper.

‘’ You know we can ask them to sit with us at lunch today, right?’’ she looked puzzled, but I did not wait for a response. ‘’ Guys! Want to sit with us at lunch?’’ I waved at them.

‘’ Sure. We will wait for you at the table in the corner next to the window.’’ Replied Will. Another two classes passed by and as we made out way to the cafeteria, we saw the boy’s table. Will saved a spot next to him and Jasper another, probably for Irene. We all chatted for a while and as we opened our lunches everyone looked at me.

‘’ Salad? Really?’’ laughed Malik.

‘’ How do you think I manage to look this good? Half the time I want to eat the whole fridge!’’ I laughed back. ‘’ Self-control is important, plus I have some chocolates.’’ Once I opened to take a sip of my tea, I noticed Will looking at me. ‘’ Do you want a sip?’’

‘’ Sure.’’ He replied, but as he took it to his lips he immediately backed away and he froze for a second.

‘’ Is everything all right? It just has some berries and basic plants, nothing much.’’

‘’ I think I won’t like it. Thank you though.’’ He passed the bottle back to me.

“Maybe a chocolate?” I pushed the sweet into his face.

"I can’t say no to that." He laughed as he pulled the candy from my hand.

‘’ I couldn’t help but notice, what are all the signs on your bracelet?’’ Malik asked.

‘’ Well, my grandparents gave it to me a couple years ago, she used to tell me to never take it off, like it acted as a shield to cast away bad things. So we have the sun and moon along with a star and the last one is some sort of rune, I never knew what that meant to be honest.’’ I explained as I showed them the bracelet. ‘’ I sometimes wonder you know; you guys have never seen my house but if you did you will notice all these historical stuff, different sets of ancient books, this rune actually is on my father’s door, his study room, maybe it’s in air loom.’’

‘’ What if your family is royal or something?’’ joked Jasper.

‘’ Believe me if I was royal, I wouldn’t walk to school or eat salads at lunch. I am starting to believe I may be a with witch all those artifacts in the house.’’ I laughed.

‘’ Uuuuuuu and enchantress.’’ Irene added. The table was filled with laughter as we enjoyed each other’s company.

The rest of the day went smooth, but something in the back of my head kept me dozing off every so often. It felt like i almost had to go back to the forest, something is calling me to go again, but I do have to say I am fixated to it. I knew that if I tried again my new friends would stop me, so right before our final class, I excused myself to go to the bathroom. As I saw the red doors I bolted through them and took my chance.

I could already smell the forest scent that invaded my nose, getting to the path brought back the memories of what happened a few days ago. I decided to give it one last chance and stepped further into the woods. For some time nothing happened, I could not sense anyone or anything, but I still had the gut feeling that I was about to find something. Minutes passed on the clock as I explored all corners of the woods that were closer to the path. Eventually I went further and further away from the initial path, almost losing track of time and space around me. It started getting a bit darker outside but the sun could be seen between the branches of the trees.

“Grrrrr.” I heard behind me. O shit.

Turning around, a tall dark figure of a wolf came closer to me. With every step it took I took another back.

"I know you can hear and sense me Cassandra. Don’t be afraid, you will soon find out who i am and specially who you are. You have been living in this lie, in this secret and as time is ticking on the clock the prophecy will be fulfilled. I will make sure of it."

I froze in place; how can he link his mind with mine? How can I hear him in my head? What prophecy?

‘’No need to fear me Cassandra, we are more alike than you actually know it. I shall give you the gift of knowledge soon and then you will know what the rune and your family’s name mean.’’

The wolf got closer to me and with his paw scratched my neck on the side, I started bleeding, but I was too stunned to move. My body was on fire, burning like crazy, it almost felt like something was trying to unleash.

William’s POV

As i felt the scent of the tea she passed to me, I knew exactly what it was, an old brew that gained control of the wolf inside us, it would make it dormant for a long time especially if that person has never shifted. If what I believe it’s true this means Cass is one of us.

She did have a look on her face as if I was crazy for not liking that tea, but my wolf repulsed it immediately. Looking around I saw to boys sniffing the scent from the brew that was sitting in her bottle. If only she knew what she was drinking. How could her parents give her that stuff? Are they ashamed or are they protecting her, maybe hiding her?

“Guys we need to chat somewhere private. I have something to tell you.”

“If you want to talk about that horrible tea, we already know mate what it is, and it makes sense because if is she a real Cromwell and what I read these past days is true we have got something on our hands.” Nodded Jasper.

“I’m telling you guys she is one of us for sure, she does doesn’t know it yet. Her aura her scent, everything about her invites you in. No wonder you have been googlie eyes.” mentions Bruno.

I wanted to reply but as I opened my mouth I knew she went back to that forest. Blood! I can sense her blood. I pushed past my mates and jumped outside the building following her scent deep into the woods. Running as fast as I could i dropped my bag and shifted into a wolf still trying to locate her.

Finally there she was, standing deep inside the forest, with the black wolf hovering almost above her. She was injured on her neck and bleeding. I ran towards them and pushed the wolf away from her. He growled and tried to fight me off, but I stood my ground since I am an alpha and I will bow down to no one. He took a few steps back, gazed at her and took deep off in the woods.

“You know you could have gotten yourself killed, right? Why the hell would you ever consider coming back here and on your own!” I linked my thoughts to hers.

“How the hell can I hear you…. hear him??? Wait…. William? Is that you?" She questioned stunned as her heart was beating fast.

"I didn’t want for you to find out this way but since you love playing with your life I chose to protect you and not my secret.”

She closed her eyes for a second and I shifted back to my human state, getting closer to her I could sense she was in shock; I ripped a part of my shirt to place it on the scratches. Not long after she fainted in my arms. I got us safe back to the school and placed her in the jeep.

‘’ Guys meet me at the den. She was harmed and fainted.’’ I linked my thoughts to the boys.

The bleeding has fortunately stopped but she is still unconscious. Since she has been drinking that brew for a while the wolf inside her will not help her heal so fast. It will take time, and if she has never shifted it will take even longer. I am not sure if the scar will heal completely.

As I pulled in the driveway of my house I saw my mates shifting back to humans and rising from the woods. We opened the door and placed for on the couch as we tried figuring out what to do, and most importantly how are we going to explain everything to her. I stepped into my office and grabbed some healing herbs to prepare a brew which will eliminate that tea faster from her system.

‘’ You do realize that once the tea is cured from her body she will eventually shift. And she is of age also, what will make it harder is if she has never shifted before this full moon, that is about to come, will be the worst thing we have ever encountered.’’ mentioned Bruno.

‘’ I know, but unless we help her the healing process will take days. She already is suspecting everything and saw me. She needs to know what she is and the sooner we help her the sooner she can learn to control it. Her parents are lying to her, and they will not help her control it since they are shoving this brew down her throat.’’ I explained while preparing the potion.

Only time will tell if it worked and if she is ready to face this reality. I have no clue how are we going to help her, we never faces a wolf that was strained so many years, but since we have been born like this and not bitten it will be easier to communicate with her and her wolf.
