The train arrived on a clear night in the city of Beauxer.
The city itself sat on the edge of a long, horizontal lake, and was actually a port of call for shipping to and from the center of the continent, connected to the Hyadic Ocean via long canals chained across a series of smaller lakes that led to the south and east.
As the train curved inward, Rui saw the light of ships in the harbor as she gently patted Yue's sleeping head.
Beams of light illuminated the night sky from the glittering hall of glass and steel that was the train station, and a dirigible sailed the sky. Rui almost rolled her eyes at the dirigible. Early on, before Siveron committed aircraft and training to Kota, the Sendan had the nerve to use them to scout and even bomb. That all ended in one night, when the Sendan sent in three-quarters of their fleet trying to bomb the first Expedition outpost.
