Chapter 3

Finding a job was the next step, Alex thought as he unpacked his bags. Fisrt thing tomorrow morning he was going to check at the café across the street, and gou from there. The knock at the door drew Alex out of his thoughts, instantly his heart started beating faster. Brad couldn't have found him already, its only been a day since he left. Cautiously he went to the door. Another knock. Alex didn't move to open yet.

He cleared his throat that suddenly went dry. "Who is it?" he asked.

"It's me Sam, from earlier. We met down stairs." the person answered "Can i come in?"

Alex exhaled the breath he didn't even know he held and unlocked the door

"Yes sorry. Come on in." he held the door open for the other.

Sam walked in, she noticed Alex rubbing his hand together like he was anxious about something. He closed the door the moment she was inside. He was definitely scared of something .

"How are you adjust? I hope the olace isn't too small." she asked.

Alex smile. He didn't really have any friends, he always had to entertain Brads friends.

"Oh, it's just right. It's really nice." he answered.

Without looking like she was prying she asked, "Is this your first time living alone?"

Alex didn't know what to say. He just nodded and looked away. He wasn't ready to talk about it.

Changing the subject he rather asked, "Do you know if the café across the street are looking for people? I really need to get a job."

"Oh, yeah. You can just talk to Mitch. She's the owner. I'm sure she'll help you out." she said quickly. "I really hope we can be friends, you know." her smile was genuine.

"I would really like that. I don't really have or had friends."

Sam smiled "Want to grab a coffee? Then you can get a look at the café while we're at it."

"Sounds great." Alex answered

So the went to the coffee shop acsoss the street. It was just as cozy as th apartment building, there wher all kinds of furniture. Nothing really matched. There were sofas and chairs, tables and chairs. A counter with round bar stools. It was really n nice place, it didn't even feel formal. You could actually be comfortable there.

"So what do you think? Pretty cozy right?" Sam asked.

Alex could only nod. He didn't even know what to say. He's never been to a place like this, Brad rarely let bim go out and when he did, it was only when Brad went out he could go along. It was nice not having to ask someone's permission. He could finally breath it felt so nice, he couldn't help but laugh out of pure joy. Out of nowhere he turned and hugged Sam. Sam not knowing what to do just hugged him back. Alexet go blushing a little.

"Sorry. I don't usually randomly hug people, it's just that I'm really happy. Happier than I've been in a long time."

Sam also laughed, she gave him another hug.

"Hey I thought I said not to steal my girl away." they heard someone behind them. It was Mitch.

"There's nothing wrong in two friends hugginv each other. You're just jealous." Sam said jokingly. She smiled at Mitch. Mitch bent down and kissed Sam on the lips. Seeing their show of affection, Alex blushed and looked away.

"We want two coffees, please" Sam said after the pulled away.

Mitch jokingly bowed, "Yes ma'am, comming right up." she went over two the counter.

Sam took Alex's hand and walked over to a sofa in the coner with a little coffee table. They sat down anx waited for their coffee. "So, Alex tell me ablut yourself." Sam said. She looked at him, seeing his face she quickly added "I don't want you to think I'm nosy or anything."

Alex exhaled. He didn't think she was being nosy, it was just so much has happend he didn't think he was ready to talk about it. So he decided to keep it simple and share only a little bit.

"I don't think you're nosy, it's just my past isn't what you might think it is." Alex replied.

"You know we're both Omegas. So what ylu experienced, I might also have." she said with concern in her voice.

"The only difference is that you're a female Omega anf I'm a male. Males get treated differently to females. It was hard being an Omega." realizing what he shared Alex looked down. "Sorry I didn't mean to be a downer."

Sam touched his hand "You don't have to apologize. And you can talk to me, we're friends aren't we. I want you to know you can trust me. I won't push you, but I'll be here when you feel ready to open up." she gave his hand a squeeze and smiled at him. "Now what is taking that woman so long with that coffee. It's just two cups. Jeez"

Alex couldn't help but smile at his new friend's chang of topic. He was really lucky he found some friend he could trust, eventually. Now he was still raw from the last person ge thought he could trust.
