Chapter 4

Mitch brought three cups of coffee and a plate filled with delicious looking muffins. Alex only then realised how hungry he was, he never ate in the morning. For a few days now he has a hollow feeling in his stomach, the feeling making him scared to eat, but those muffins really look inviting.

"I hope you enjoy yourself. I bake all the cakes and pastry's in the café, so I hope it isn't that bad." Mitch said with a smile.

Sam looked like she just remembered something and said, "Oh I almost forgot, is there an opening 'cause Alex is looking for work. And well the café is closer to home. It's safer this way." sheooked at Mitch pointedly.

Being an unmarked Omega it's dangerous for them to wander around alone. Even though Alex was in a relationship and you can faintly sense Brads pheromones, he was never marked, witch makes him an umarked Omega. His pheromones will still be strong enough to attract unwanted attention from Alphas, and his heat will be worse.

"Yeah, now that you mention it I do need extra help. Caty quit just a few days ago, but I haven't had time to put up a poster yet. Do you have any experience waitering, Alex?"

Alex looked up with a sad expression on his face. "I honestly don't have any experience, but I can learn pretty quickly. I really need a job."

"Well if you're willing to learn, I'll give you a chance." Mitch said to everyones delight. Then she added, "You can start tomorrow if it isn't to soon for you?"

Alex had a huge smile on his face, he couldn't contain his happiness. "No it's perfect I'll see you tomorrow morning early."

"Great. We open at 8 am so be hear about an hour earlier. We clean up a bit and move everything right. There may be some night you work a bit late, that's when we do a kind of spring clean."

Alex nodded he didn't mind starting early or working late, at least he has n job. His life was getting on track surprisingly quick. He just hped nothing will go wrong. He really needed his life to be normal. Pushing the future to the back of his head and focused on the joy of the present. He smiled at the two woman who seemed to be sent just for him, they smiled back.

"Well let's dig in. The muffins are best when they are fresh and Mitch really is a good cook." Sam said grabbing one of the muffins. She looked like she just left reality when she took a bite. It really looked good.

Alex picked one out. It looked like a chocolate one. They smelled heavenly. He took a bite. He felt his stomach turning, he knew he wasn't eating for no reason. That hollow feeling took a hold of his stomach.

A little embarrassed he asked, "Wher is the bathroom?"

Both of them looked at Alex, confusion written all over their faces. "Just down that hall. You'll see the sign." Mitch said.

Alex rushed down th hall to empty his already empty stomach. He really needs to se a doctor sometime. Sam an Mitch looked at each other, uncertain of what just happened.

"Do you think it was the muffins, angel?" Mitch asked Sam.

"No, it wasn't. I have a small feeling I know what it is. But we'll have to wait and see." Sam answered.

Mitch looked a little confused, but Sam didn't say anything more. After a moment or two Mitch got the idea Sam was talking about. The poor kid, he didn't even know much of the world. Anyone could see Alex is a very sheltered person. Somehow Mitch got a feeling of wanting to protect Alex and she would try her best.

In the bathroom Alex was in some pain of losing his nonexistent stomach contents.

He splashed his face and breathed, trying to stop shaking. His face was a little flushed and he was feeling weak in his legs. He looked at himself in the mirror. He couldn't believe that was him. He changed a lot from when he first met his so called love of his life. He noticed the coler of his shirt moved, the ugly purple blue bruise from his last encounter with Brad, sticking out. He fixed himself up before heading back to his new friends. He sat down and clutched his hand seeing they're still shaking. He smiled at the Sam, a little weak, but still a smile.

"Mitch is worried she may have poisoned you." Sam said jokingly.

CNo it wasn't that. I just haven't been feeling well lately. I've been meaning so see a doctor, but just haven't had time yet." Alex said hoping Mitch isn't offended by the incident just now.

"Well, how about I go with you later. I know a hospital near by. And you only have to start work tomorrow. So you're free today. No use avoiding it, you need to take care of your health" Sam offered.

"I don't want to be a burden." Alex said in a small voice.

Sam just smiled at him "You know we're friends right, and that's what friends do. They help each other." When Sam saw he still wanted to argue she said " No use trying to stop me. I'm taking you and that's finale"

Alex could only nod his agreement.
