Chapter 2

Alex put the last bag by the door, he turned around and looked back at the living room. It took a long time and a lot of debating to get to today. Alex finally decided to leave. There was to much pain and not enough joy. He didn't think he could handle any more heartbreak. For the last 5 years he had to endure the physical and mental abuse from his Alpha partner and he didn't want it anymore. He decided he was strong enough to leave. To choose himself for once.

He opend the door and walked out, this time not looking back. He didn't exactly know where to go, but he had some money he saved up. He was going to get a cheap place to stay and find a job. That's the most important for know. So he headed towards the apartment building. Inside the entry hall there was a young girl cleaning.

"Um, excuse me." he said.

The girl looked up from her work. She was a pretty one, with shoulder length blond hair, shiny blue eyes and rosy cheeks.

Alex smiled "Is there someone I can talk to about an apartment maybe?"

The girl smiled back "Yeah. I'll just go fetch her. She's upstairs somewhere, I'll be right back." she bounded up the stair and out of view.

Left alone Alex stared at the interior of the entry hall. In was cozy, not a five star place, but comfortable. The walls were decorated with paintings of fields of flowers farm lands and others. They were beautiful. He was so engrossed in looking around. He didn't notice the woman coming down the stairs.

She cleared her throat. "Heard you're looking for me? Can I help you?"

Being shocked out of reverie Alex was speechless fo a few seconds

"Yes," he said softly. "I'm looking for a cheap place to stay."

"Well there is something that just opend up. The couple moved out about a week ago. The place is still in good shape. Do you want to see it?" she asked with a smile making Alex relax a little.

He didn't know how tense he was until she smiled at him "Yes please. If you dont mind."

"Sure" she turned and headed to the door behind her. She went in, it obviously being her office. She was back again within seconds.

"Okay, let's go." she went up the stairs Alex following behind her. "My names Michelle by the way, but everyone just calls me Mitch. The girl you met earlier is Samantha, just call her Sam. She doesn't like being called by her full name.".

Alex smiled "My name is Alex. You can just call me Alex."

She chuckled and looked back at him. "You're a funny one aren't you. Well the place isn't a luxury hotel or anything but its comfortable enough. And if you have any problems just let me or Sam know."

Alex just nodded. They stopped in front of a door with a number 3 on it.

At the door Mitch turned back to him." And just to inform you. Sam and I are mates. Not that you'll try being an Omega. "

Alex looked down at the term Omega. He never liked being referred to as one. He knew what he was he didn't need anyone rubbing it in.

Seeing Alex's expression, she felt bad." I didn't mean anything by it. It's just that Sam's also an omega." she smiled." So you guys might get along."

Alex smiled, this time a real smile. "I'd like that very much."

Mitch opend the door and walked in. It was a small place. With one bedroom, one bathroom and an open plan kitchen living room. It was big enough for one person. Mitch showed him through the place. Tey ended up in the kitchen. It was already furnishe, sparsely. There was a bed in the room, a couch in the living room with a small tv in the corner. In the kitchen ther was n stove and a kettle. Everything he needed was there. He felt very happy at the moment. He didn't know he was going to be able to do this himself.

"So what do you think? You like it." Mitch asked. "It isn't much but should be enough for one person."

Alex loomed around, he had a smile on his face the entire time. "Yes, it's perfect. I'll take it."

Mitch smiled at him. She could tell this Omega didn't have an easy life, she could still smell the scent of the Alpha he was with.

"Great. Here are the keys, make yourself at home. I'll just get the paperwork ready. I'll be back in about an hour or so." she headed ou the door. She popped her head back in and said "Welcome to the building. I hope you'll be happy here."

Alex returned her smile. For the first time in years he felt his heart lighten. "I know I will be."

Whwen she was gone Alex walked through the apartment again. He really could see himself here.
