Two Days Without You

"Kai baby…are you really just gonna up and leave? Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for you and all, you absolutely deserve it, but to me it doesn't seem like you're happy about it. You've only smiled once since you walked through that door.", said Saya, a worried look on her face.

Kai sipped his latte, before speaking. "I'm fine, I've made up my mind."

Saya let out a sigh, "Kai, if you're fine why the heck did you pic a coffee shop out of town? If you were fine, you wouldn't be scared of running into Jinn." Kai quickly raised his eyes, squinting at Dana.

"I'm not afraid of running into Jinn, it's just that I've wanted to come to this coffee shop for a while now and since I'll be leaving at the end of the week, might as well give it a shot, they have really good latte's by the way.", Kai responded, sipping his latte again.

"Kai I know that you love him, I just don't want you to regret your decision after you leave, I've been where you are and trust me, I regret it every day.", Saya continued to press the issue.

"Should I try another flavor?", Kai responded, ignoring what Saya had just said.

"Kai.."

"Saya don't.", said Kai looking up with tears in his eyes. "This is gonna be the last time I see you for a while and I don't want to spend it talking about him, I've made my decision."

Saya let out another sigh as she watched tears roll down Kai's face, that he quickly wiped away.

"So what's happening with work?", Saya asked, grudgingly deciding to change the subject.

"My boss has decided to give me this week off to prepare since I'll be leaving the country."

"Right, right, that makes sense. Ugh! I can't believe my bestie will be living in Japan, I won't get to see your handsome little face anymore!", Saya whined.

Kai let out a chuckle, "Saya have you forgotten you travel for work all the time? We barely see each other now.", said Kai shaking his head.

"Yeah I know, but now when I come home I won't have the security of knowing you're in the same state as me, we won't be able to have random coffee meet ups anymore.", Saya said with a shaky voice as tears streamed down her face.

"Awww, don't cry. I'm still gonna be you're best friend no matter how far away I am.", said Kai, getting up from his side of the booth and sitting next to Saya to hug her. Saya wrapped her arms around Kai back, kissing him on the cheek.

"You better send me gifts.", Saya managed to get out as she sniffled.

"Of course.", said Kai letting out a giggle.

On the other side of town Jinn sat quietly in his office, his eyes red and his eye lids heavy while he went over projects that needed his signature. Jinn hadn't been able to sleep well over the weekend since Kai had left. With Kai being out of work this week, Jinn had no way to get in contact with him. He had tried, texting, video chatting and calling, but Kai wouldn't answer, Jinn had no idea where he was, and it was driving him nuts. The poor guy had hoped for one last chance to change Kai's mind, but he couldn't find him, what could he do?

Slamming the papers down on his desk Jinn sighed as his eyes watered, "fuck!", he cursed under his breath. "You are at work Jinn, pull yourself together.", he encouraged himself, but the tears wouldn't stop coming.

A knock sounded on the door and it suddenly opened, Jinn quickly grabbed a tissue, holding it up to his face, pretending to blow his nose.

"Jinn, have you…my God you look terrible.", said Jane entering the office. "Are you alright?"

Forcing a smile, Jinn wiped his nose, "Yeah I know, my allergies have been kicking my butt since the weekend.", Jinn lied.

"I see, have you signed off on the new office building yet?", Jane asked.

"Yeah.", said Jinn flipping through the papers and handing it to Jane.

"Alrighty, thank you and hey if you need to go home, I understand, just leave what you haven't finished on my desk.", said Jane.

Jinn nodded, as Jane left his office. Even if he did leave, he would be doing nothing, but laying in bed at home making himself crazy. The thought of it made him even sadder, but for some reason it also sounded inviting at the same time.

When lunch time rolled around, Jinn simply sat at his desk, he hadn't had much of an appetite lately either, why couldn't he pull himself together?

Another knock sounded on the door and Jinn closed his eyes, exhaling heavily, before sitting up like he wasn't just moping like a kicked puppy. "Come in.", Jinn called out clearing his throat afterward.

Opening the door, in walked Brandon, "Mr. Wilkins."

"What do you need?", said Jinn not bothering to look at the kid.

"You have a guest here to see you, she said her name is Ms. Saya." Quickly raising his head, Jinn furrowed his brows, why was Saya here to see him when he had never even had the chance to meet her before.

"Mr. Wilkins?", Brandon asked with both brows raised as he saw that Jinn was kind of spacing out.

"Uh…oh, send her in.", said Jinn awkwardly coming back to reality. Nodding with a smirk, Brandon disappeared, soon returning, opening the door with Saya. As Saya walked in Jinn eyed her carefully as a sweet smile graced her face. Kai had mentioned that Saya was a beauty, but perhaps it was a bit of an understatement. Nodding and closing the door behind him, Brandon was gone, leaving the two alone.

"Nice to finally meet you Jinn.", she said sticking out her tiny hand for Jinn to hold.

Still somewhat surprised that she was here, Jinn stood, accepting her handshake and the two sat down.

"Likewise.", Jinn responded.

"I'm sorry to pop up on you like this, but I just had coffee with Kai."

When Jinn heard those words, his lips parted, it kind of hurt a little to hear knowing that Kai had gone through great lengths to ignore him. Exhaling heavily, Jinn spoke, "How is he?"

"That's what I'm here to talk about. Kai doesn't know that I'm here, but what happened between you two? He won't tell me what happened, but he's hurting and I can see that you're hurting too."

Staring down at his lap, Jinn wasn't sure what to say, but he spoke anyway. "He doesn't want to be with me anymore, and he's leaving for Japan."

"Do you really believe that Jinn, because I don't, he couldn't even talk about you without getting emotional.", said Saya, tears in her eyes.

Jinn quickly raised his head; he could see that Saya was simply here on her own behalf because she cared about her best friend.

"What can I do, I can't make him stay.", Jinn responded, tears swelling in his own eyes.

"Kai is leaving this Friday, if you still love him, then don't let him go so easily!", Saya raised her voice a bit as she could tell that Jinn was indeed feeling sorry for himself.

"I haven't been able to get in contact with him."

"That's why I am here, he will probably hate me for this, but he's staying at the bridge hotel downtown. Do what you will with that information.", said Saya standing up.

"Why are you helping me?" Jinn asked.

"I am doing this for him, not you, I don't want him to make the same mistake that I made.", said Saya before she turned to leave.

As Saya closed the door, Jinn sighed heavily, bringing his elbows on the table and putting his head in his hands. Now that he knew where Kai was, he had to decide what it was he wanted to do. Jinn didn't know if he would be able to handle going to see Kai. He didn't know if Kai would slam the door in his face when he showed up or if he would be able to listen to those words again because honestly, he was afraid.

The time was about 8:30pm and at the Bridge Hotel Kai was laying across his bed, looking at places in Japan he had always wanted to visit. "Can I really do this; can I really just pick up and move to another country?", Kai thought to himself dropping his phone before rolling over onto his back. "I wonder what he's doing right now, I hope he's alright. Nah, he's a tough cookie, I'm sure he's fine without me.", Kai thought, letting out a heavy exhale. He hadn't talked to Jinn in two days and kept his phone on do not disturb mode most of the day so that he wouldn't have to be bothered with seeing his phone ringing over and over again. It was hard enough when one minute you were living with someone, touching them, talking to them as you pleased and the next you're simply existing without them, Kai honestly felt a little empty. Letting out another sigh, Kai closed his eyes, falling asleep for a moment and jumping out of his sleep as a knock sounded on the door.

"I didn't order any food or anything, they probably have the wrong door.", said Kai. Deciding to ignore it, Kai closed his eyes again until the knock sounded again. Letting out a sigh, Kai finally got up, opening the door, and his heart nearly stopped.

"Ji...Jinn, what are you…how did you?...", Kai stuttered, nonplused by the fact that Jinn was actually here standing in front of him.

Staring at each other for a moment, Kai could see that Jinn looked a little rough, he had been struggling after all.

"I need to talk to you, can I come in?", Jinn finally spoke.

"…", not saying anything, Kai backed up allowing Jinn to come in.

"How have you been?", Jinn asked.

"How did you find me?", Kai asked, ignoring his question, but his voice soft.

Staring at the ground for a minute Jinn let out a nervous sigh, "Saya."

"Of course.", Kai said, irritation present in his voice as he walked away from the doorway to sit on the bed and Jinn followed.

"Don't be angry with her, she only cares about you.", said Jinn sitting on the bed next to Kai.

"What are you doing here Jinn?", Kai said, staring Jinn in the eye, his voice shaking quite heavily.

"I...I don't want you to go.", said Jinn.
