The Year That Never Was

(Jared's POV)

Flight deck…

It has been 1 day since Martha left the Valiant with Kyoko and Mami. I could have gone with them, but I know that if I went, I would have gotten in the way.

I already know what Kyoko and Mami are capable of, I've read that manga that had those two as the main characters.

And what happened in there, it was bittersweet, and I honestly don't want to spoil it in here. Because I'm breaking the fourth wall right now, yeah, like Deadpool and Spider-Man.

Okay, getting back to the here and now, I chose to stay on here, mostly because I care about the magical girls on here.

Getting to know Madoka, Sayaka, Nagisa, and Homura, those girls are pretty amazing. Why would I ever leave them?

Martha is intelligent enough and she still has her humanity intact, she cares about others. Mami, she has the motherly personality to try and keep Martha and Kyoko in line when they need it. And Kyoko, she is basically a badass.

I don't know if I can survive a year here, on the Valiant with someone like the Master here. I'm terrified of the Master, like, really terrified.

After I lost Penny and Pyrrha at the Fall of Beacon, I've felt so helpless, like I failed. I have faith in two people I've known for how long now, a year.

Yeah, a year. And things won't be the same afterwards. But I feel so bad for Madoka Kaname and Homura Akemi.

Those two have been through so much throughout multiple timelines, they were dragged into this.

Let's hope they can survive another year, especially Homura. I know that they might be able to. I don't know for sure.

(Open POV)

Brig…

"So, you have quick healing powers like me." Jack said, looking at Sayaka. "We haven't been properly introduced. After what happened in Utopia. Captain Jack Harkness."

"Sayaka Miki." Sayaka said, looking away embarrassing.

"Nice to meet you, Sayaka Miki. What are your abilities?"

"Well, you know. I have two swords."

"Dual wielding. Nice."

"How old are you?"

"Weren't you paying attention? I'm over a hundred years old." Jack said, smiling.

"Over a hundred?" Sayaka asked. "Talk about cool."

"You know, I saw what you could do."

"How?"

Sayaka is chained on another wall next to Jack, while Nagisa is in another room. Somewhere nearby, possibly locked up with Martha's family.

Passageways…

Nagisa is sitting next to Francine and Tish, not knowing what will truly happen next.

"So, you're Nagisa." Francine said, placing her hand on Nagisa's. "How old are you?"

"Physically, I'm eight years old." Nagisa said, kicking her legs back and forth. "But I'm older than I look."

"You're immortal then." Tish said. "That explains why you girls never age."

"Yup. Normally I don't like being around humans. But if Jared wants me to be around them for a year. What else can I do?"

"You really don't like us, huh."

"No."

3 months later…

"I can't believe we had to walk around Africa." Kyoko said, annoyed. "So hot…"

"At least we walked around the country." Mami said. "That's all that matters."

"We still have a long way to go." Martha said, tossing over a skewer to Kyoko. "Yeah, I didn't forget your high metabolism."

"Meat or sweets?" Kyoko asked.

"Macaroons."

"Hold on." Mami said. "Macaroons on a skewer? Is that even…"

"I may have watched some iCarly episodes." Martha said, sadly. "It was to conserve space in our backpack."

"So what?" Kyoko asked, eating one of the macaroons off the skewer. "It's efficient too."

"But the bento boxes are small." Mami said.

"And they take up space. Especially for three people. We need room for the gun remember?"

"Okay." Martha said, smiling. "I never thought us three would get along nicely."

"Where we heading to now?" Kyoko asked.

"China. Of course!"

"Traveling by labyrinth would be quicker."

"We can't protect Martha in there." Mami said. "Well, we can. But she's more than just a magical girl."

"She's human." Kyoko said, smirking. "Let's go."

6 months later after the spheres appeared…

"I have gotten word that the Symphogear wielders have saved Martha Jones, Kyoko Sakura, and Mami Tomoe." The Master said, walking up to Jared. "And why would they do that?"

"Leave them alone!" Jared said, angrily. "You asshole!"

"Oh...hoh! Do you even know that the likes of Hibiki Tachibana and Yukine Chris died?"

"They didn't! They can't die!"

"Apparently they did. And you were unable to stop it. Because do you know why? You were up here!"

"I hate you." Jared said, clenching his fist. "I hate you so...much."

"You can hate me all you want. And escaping. That isn't possible. You lost the Symphogear wielders. Some of the defenders of the Earth."

"That's because you made them…"

"Nah. Tell me where they're heading."

"No."

"They made it out of Japan alive. I know you told Mami and Kyoko something. And the Doctor told Martha something. Tell me what. And I'll let Madoka Kaname and Homura Akemi go."

"No."

"Is that all you can say?" The Master asked. "No?"

"No!"

Passageways…

"Nagisa." Francine said, looking at the magical girl. "What is a magical girl, really?"

"Oh." Nagisa said. "It's something you can't comprehend."

"So, it's not like those magical girls you see in anime then." Tish said, crossing her arms.

"No. It's not. Being a magical girl, how would Kyoko say it? It isn't all girly girly you know. Light hearted."

"And how did you become a magical girl?" Francine asked.

"You make a wish."

"A wish? What kind of wish?"

"It can be any. Anything you want. But after that, that's it."

"So, it's not like those three wishes then." Tish said. "Like with genies."

"No."

Brig…

"We've reached the halfway mark, Sayaka Miki." Jack said, smirking.

"I know." Sayaka said, smiling. "Captain. I really can't believe I've known you for 6 months already."

"And we're close."

"They made it out of Japan. I hope they visited Hitomi and Kyousuke."

"And they are?"

"My friends."

"You've never brought them up before."

"I thought I did.��

"How many people do you think died on Earth?"

"I don't know. To be honest. It could be more than a hundred thousand."

9 months later after the spheres appeared…

"Martha sailed across America with Kyoko and Mami" The Master said.

The Master was walking around the room, as Jared was holding the Soul Gems of Madoka Kaname and Homura Akemi.

The fanboy wanted to keep them safe from the clutches of the Master, he lost them once, and he doesn't want to lose them again.

"It looks like they're heading home" The Master said, scoffing. "Want to tell me why?"

"No. I don't." Jared said, looking down from the Master. "Why would I tell you?"

"I left μ's and Aqours alone. Just like you wanted. Anything else you want?"

"Let Sayaka Miki and Nagisa Momoe go."

"Why would I let two pieces of the Law of Cycles go?"

"Because they're not a part of it. We've gone over this conversation over and over for almost a year now."

"I hate you!" Jared said, angrily.

"I know." The Master said.

Passageways…

"Nagisa." Francine said. "You know you can always talk to me."

"I know." Nagisa said, sadly. "You're like Mami in a way."

"You're actually pretty sweet." Tish said, placing her hand on Nagisa's.

"Did I ever tell you what my wish was?"

"You did." Francine said. "It's nice and don't feel bad for yourself."

"I wonder how they're doing. Mami, Kyoko, and Martha."

New York…

"You know, if it wasn't this sad." Mami said. "This trek would be a lot more enjoyable."

"Yeah." Martha said. "There might be another me in another world, where I did this trek alone."

"Why in the world would we let you go on your own?" Kyoko asked.

"I don't know. But it would be something you would do. Both of you."

"Yeah."

Brig…

"It's almost time:" Jack said, smirking.

"Yup." Sayaka said, happily. "Come back safe, girls."

"Oh, they will. You know them. And I only just met Martha."

"Now let's wait and have our plan unravel, until the very end."
