Chapter 15: learning new techniques.

Kai realized that this haggard old man who acted like a drunkard was an existence he must not disturb, so he walked inside the library.

As he walked inside the library, he couldn't help but marvel at the sheer size and grandeur of the building. The walls were lined with shelves that rose to the ceiling, housing thousands of books and scrolls on every topic imaginable, from cultivation techniques to forbidden arts.

The library was divided into sections specializing in different demonic cultivation areas.

The first section that caught Kai's attention was the section on cultivation techniques. Here, he found books on the most basic forms of cultivation and highly advanced techniques that only the most skilled cultivators could learn.

Moving on to the next section, Kai found books on the cultivation of demonic energy and the various types of demonic cultivation, including blood, soul, and demon body cultivation.

The third section was dedicated to forbidden arts, seeking to educate and illuminate the dangers of practicing such arts, including subjugation, conjugation, and manipulation of demonic energy. It was heavily guarded and sealed off from casual browsing.

As Kai continued to explore the library, he found other sections dedicated to weapons techniques, treasure crafting, and demonic alchemy. Every section was meticulously organized, with the shelves and books arranged to reflect the sect's deep foundations, respect for knowledge, and pursuit of excellence.

Kai started browsing through each section to find anything that would suit his path; he couldn't cultivate, so he did not bother wasting his time in the first and second sections. So he went directly to the third section.

During his fight with Garos, he understood more of his abilities. He discovered that he could manipulate all sorts of energy in any place; he could bend the energy wills and make them serve him like their king. No matter what type of energy it is, he can control it with his mind, even though he can't absorb it inside his body or store it inside since he doesn't have a dantian.

Therefore he learned that to become stronger, he needed to learn how to use his mind perfectly and perfect his control of energy. However, his skills also have disadvantages: he can only control enough energy that his body and mind can handle.

But the stronger his body and mind become, the more energy he can control, and probably in the future, he might be able to control all the energy in the world.

As he was lost in thought, he arrived in front of the forbidden art section, but he was stopped by an elderly man who informed him that only the inner disciple and core disciple could enter this section. So Kai immediately shows his inner disciple token. The elder nodded before he allowed Kai to enter the section.

Upon getting inside, Kai felt terrified by the aura on each book; in fact, some books were locked in black chains, while others were placed in a formation box. Kai wonders how terrifying it might be for them to be locked away like this.

He started browsing the books, but first, he wanted to understand what this section meant by subjugation, conjugation, and manipulation of demonic energy. So he called for the elderly man, who appeared in front of him immediately like a ghost.

Seeing this, Kai couldn't help but think of how terrifying everybody in the demon sect was because he found everything and every elder mysterious and couldn't comprehend them.

"Little lad, you called for me. How can I help you?" The older man asked, showing no emotions on his face.

Kai cupped his fist and bowed to the senior before he asked. "Senior, I'm new to everything in this section, and I'm confused about what to choose. Can you please explain the general basic information of how things are classified here".

The old man looked at Kai for a while before he spoke. "Every technique here was classified as forbidden because of the damage it could do to the users and the people if there were no absolute control over it, and all these techniques are classified into three. Subjugation, conjuration, and manipulation."

The old man paused a little so that Kai could catch up to his explanation. After some time, he continued. "Subjugation is an art used to control other cultivators, beasts, or demons by force or manipulation. A cultivator can take control of another cultivator's mind or body, making them bend to their will with this art. This art can also be used to extract information, as a form of punishment, or as a manipulation tool. However, depending on the users, this art can be considered good or bad".

The elder paused for a while again for Kai to assimilate the information before he continued. "As for conjuration, this is an art used to summon the devil or otherworldly beings into the realm of humans, which can then be commanded to perform tasks or used to do one's bidding. However, the summoning of these entities often comes at a significant cost, as they often require a sacrifice or a tribute in exchange for their service.

"As for the last, which is the manipulation of demonic energy, this involves using one's demonic energy to manipulate the energy of other cultivators or even the energy of the world. This can be used to create illusions, control the energy in the environment, or manipulate the thoughts and emotions of others. However, the misuse of this power can lead to a loss of control and even the user's death".

The old man finished his explanation before disappearing like a ghost without saying another word to Kai. As for Kai, he was lost in thought for a moment, and when he regained his thought, he realized the elder was not there anymore, so he bowed to the previous position the elder was in before walking around to choose the cultivation that suited him.

After searching for thirty minutes, Kai finally found a technique of the mind and soul that deals with controlling outside energy, "Heavenly energy manipulation." This technique was sealed in a box; Kai took the box to the elder he talked to earlier.

Upon seeing Kai's chosen technique, the elder looked at him and asked, "Are you sure you want to choose this technique?"

Kai nodded with a firm gaze, but the elder was unfazed by his determination; he had been in the library for so many years and had seen many geniuses with such determination; some grow, and some die before they grow.

"I will warn you one last time, see to practice this technique, one needs a powerful mind and soul, or else controlling external energy with a weak mind will cause the soul and mind to collapse, which will lead to the death of the user, so tell me do you still want to practice this technique?" The elder explained before asking Kai again with an expressive face that radiates no emotions.

Kai thought for a while, considering what the elder explained; he confirmed that this technique was tailored just for him, strong will, soul, and mind. He has it all. So he looked at the elder and answered. "Yes, I will definitely be taking this technique."

The elder did not bother convincing Kai anymore, so he started the price of 4,000 contribution points. Kai paid with his token, and immediately the point was deducted from the contribution point; after that, the elder opened the box for him and made a copy of the technique before handing the original one to Kai.

Kai left the forbidden art section and went to the weapon art section. He bought a saber art called "demonic saber art" before leaving the library and heading to Xieling's residence.

Upon getting to the residence, he saw Xieling tending to her school of fish as usual. He greeted her and explained everything to her. She nodded and told him that he had prepared food for him inside and that he could eat before he started cultivating.

Kai felt warmth in his heart and was also surprised that such a powerful and mysterious woman like this would prepare food for him when they barely knew each other. He thanked Xieling before he walked to his room.

When he arrived inside, he saw a large amount of food well arranged for him, so he did not bother wasting time; he devoured all the food in thirty minutes. After that, he rests for another twenty minutes before he walks to a vast training ground in the Xieling courtyard.

He sat on the floor and brought out the two techniques he had bought. He decided to study Heavenly energy manipulation; first, he started studying it; this technique has a total of four stages; in the first stage, he can control energy within 10,000 kilometers away from him; in the second stage, he can control energy miles away from him, third stage, he can control half of the world energy and fourth stage the whole world energy.

Kai was fascinated by the thought of controlling the whole world's energy to fight or do anything, but he knew it wouldn't be an easy journey to reach such a stage. He read the first stage and realized that only people who had entered the immortal stage could practice this stage. Kai couldn't help but be fascinated about how strong this technique was that to begin the first stage; one needed the cultivation realm of an immortal.

However, he is different; although he doesn't have the powers of an immortal, he has the spiritual sense and soul of an immortal, so he can begin practicing the technique.
