Chapter 14. A mysterious old man

Kai got up from the bed and started walking toward the door in search of food, but before he got to the door, he saw Xieling walking in, her expression serious and focused. "Are you alright?" She asked, her voice gentle yet demonic.

Kai nodded, feeling strangely exhilarated despite his weak physical state. "I'm fine", he said, his voice weak. However, his stomach rumbled again at the moment, and Kai became embarrassed.

Xieling smiled, relieved. "I've been waiting for you to say that '', she said. "But first, let me get you something to eat. You've been out for a month, after all". She walked out after saying that.

Kai returned to sit on the bed; however, he had a surprised and curious expression on his face. Firstly, he was surprised to learn that he had been asleep for a month, and he was curious about the result of his test.

It only took Xieling five minutes before she returned with a large tray of food. On this tray, all types of food were on it, including different types of demonic beast meat. Kai started drooling all around his body before the food got close to him, his eyes sparkling like the stars and his stomach rumbling violently with just the aroma.

Immediately after Xieling placed the food in front of Kai, he started devouring the food without caring for any other things. Thirty minutes later, Kai finished eating, and his stomach was so full that he couldn't move his body much.

He rested for five more minutes before he looked at Xieling and said, "Elder Xieling, about the test, did I fail or pass" . He asked with curiosity.

Xieling smiled at him and said, "What do you think?". Hearing this, Kai blushed a little before he cleared his throat, averted his gaze away from Xieling, and closed his eyes to relax a little.

He already got the answer from Xieling with that short reply; he knew he passed the test, so he relaxed himself and started formulating plans for his next move.

Xieling did not want to disturb him, so she stood up and left him alone with his thoughts. However, Kai was so deep in thought that he didn't notice that Xieling had left him alone.

Kai was eager to explore more about his unlocked spiritual sense, so he calmed his breath and directed his spiritual sense into his body, and immediately every inner part of his body was presented in his mind like he was inside his body.

He started moving his senses around to watch his body's progress. He noticed that there were runes like stars all around his organs and that his bones were becoming golden in color, while there were also runes like stars on his bones.

He sensed strong star energy on each rune, and immediately he took note that he had reached the final stage of the first stage of his technique, and if he started absorbing more star energy to completely turn his bones and organs to complete gold, he would finally complete the first stage and move on to the second stage.

After he finished checking his body, he opened his eyes, and it was then that he noticed Xieling absent. He immediately got up, dressed up, and walked out of the room.

He saw Xieling tending to her school of fish as usual; he walked closer, bowed his head to greet her, and then informed her that he wanted to finish his entrance process.

Xieling nodded before telling him to come back here after he was done with everything, and Kai nodded before walking away from the courtyard, heading directly to the elder Liu position.

Upon getting to the elder Liu's position, he saw the man attending to the student, busy as always. He walked closer. "Disciple Kai paid respect to elder Liu", Kai bowed a little as a form of respect.

Elder Liu raised his head to look at Kai, and immediately a devilish smile appeared on his face: "Hahahaha, I knew you would be fine. I'm glad to see you as strong as ever. Are you here for your identity token and reward?". The old man said

Kai nodded, and immediately Elder Liu handed him a silver token. Then Elder Liu asked Kai to drop his blood on the token for recognition. Once Kai dropped his blood on it, the token glowed a little, and then Kai's name and 10,000 contribution points appeared on it. Also, a large map appeared in his mind, and this is the heavenly demon sect map.

Seeing this map, Kai realized how big the sect was; however, he saw some places marked with a Red Cross sign, which signifies a danger zone or inaccessible zone.

Elder Liu then informed Kai to come back in three days for the baptism, which he agreed to before walking away.

Kai's status as an inner disciple of the heavenly demon sect had granted him greater access to the sect's resources than he had ever imagined. It was a position of honor, and one that came with great responsibility. As he explored the sect's inner area, he marveled at its complexity, noting that it was divided into different sections that specialized in different areas of cultivation.

The alchemy section, responsible for producing various pills and elixirs, was located in a remote corner of the area. The weapons section, which focused on crafting weapons infused with demonic energy, was situated in the heart of the sect. The treasure section, which housed the powerful magical artifacts, was hidden away in a cave deep within the mountains.

Kai was able to view all this with his spiritual sense while walking around the sect; moreover, he noticed that there were still the outer sect and core sect regions, especially the core zone, which is a zone that houses the strongest members of the sect, like the core discipline, supreme elders, and law enforcement court.

Moreover, Kai learned that the core area is the best cultivation zone in the whole sect, and the core disciple position is the dream of all sect members. Kai continued walking and exploring the inner sect, and he found everything fascinating.

But it was the library section that most caught Kai's attention. The library contains a wealth of knowledge on everything from the forbidden art to demonic cultivation and is a valuable resource for any cultivator looking to expand their skills.

Kai walked toward the library and saw a chained old drunk man at the entrance. The old man was sleeping quite loudly at the entrance. The man looked ordinary enough, dressed in tattered robes and bound by chains that hung loosely around his thin frame.

Kai approached him and studied the man's face, which was etched with lines of experience and age. Despite his disheveled appearance, there was something mysterious about the old man, who seemed to be in an eternal state of drunkenness.

The old man's hair was a wild mess of matted gray, and his beard was equally unkempt. He snorted deeply, seemingly unaware of his surroundings. Kai stepped closer to get a better look, but as soon as he got near the old man, he realized that the chains around his body were laced with powerful demonic energy.

Kai used his spiritual sense on the old man, and he could tell that the old man was no ordinary vagabond; his aura was ancient and mysterious, unlike anything Kai had ever encountered before. With his spiritual sense, he could feel the old man's aura, but it was like he never existed in that position at all. Then he opened his eyes, but the old man was still in the same position.

He got more curious, so he directed more of his spiritual sense toward the old man's position, but before his sense could get closer, he felt a sharp pain in his head. Kai groaned, and he was forced to take a few steps back. When he opened his eyes, he saw the old man staring at him with interest.

Kai felt a chill run down his spine; all the hair on his body stood, and he felt like he was being stared at by the greatest predator of all time. But surprisingly, the old man smiled at him.

"Little brat, don't you know it's quite rude to access someone's spiritual sense without their consent?". The old man said this with a smile and curiosity on his face.

Kai took a deep breath before he cupped his fist and bowed toward the old man. "My apology, old man. I never knew my actions would be so rude. I hope you can forgive this ignorant junior". He said it out loud, respectfully.

However, the students coming in and out of the library shook their heads to sympathize with Kai. Kai noticed their actions, and he got more curious and also raised his guard against the old man.

The old man massaged his beard and hummed for a while. "Alright, I will forgive you, but you have to provide me with five vials of the best wine you can get, or else I will have to beat you up till your mother won't be able to recognize you anymore," the old man said with a devilish smile.

Kai frowned a little, but then he remembered that his master gave him a lot of rare wines that are hard to come by before he left since his master was also a lover of wine, so he immediately took five vials of wine out and handed them over to the old man. This action surprised the old man, but he did not delay much and received the wine.

The old man sniffed the wine, and his eyes lit up in amazement before he nodded his head continuously while shouting "good wine, good, good, very good wine". He stores the wine, and he returns to sleep like nothing happened at all.
