Chapter 16: enlightenment.

After Kai finished reading through the steps to control energy, he immediately closed his eyes, regulated his breathing, and started spreading his spiritual sense all around the surrounding energy.

Firstly, he needs to understand the feelings of energy by introducing his spiritual sense to them. It's like catching a fish: you first place the fish trap on the hook before throwing it in the sea, then you wait patiently for the fish to come.

However, Kai was surprised with what happened next. At first, he thought he would have difficulties subduing the environment's energy and that it would take him a long time to learn to control it and perfect his control over it.

But immediately Kai spread his spiritual sense to communicate with the energy, and all the energy within the surrounding courtyard rushed towards him, like they'd seen their king and were here to pay their tribute.

Kai flung his eyes open, filled with surprise. He was confused, because at that moment all the energy rushed toward him. He could feel their feelings; he felt like he could communicate with the energy; but most importantly, he could understand their feelings. In his heart, he felt their worship and love, like they were caring for him.

Then he closed his eyes and spread his spiritual sense again; the same situation occurred, immediately he started communicating with the energies. The energies were demonic; they were filled with rage, malice, hatred, anger, and destruction. But around Kai, they acted so lovingly.

Xieling was watching Kai from the pond; she was surprised to see all the demonic energy rushing toward Kai, and she saw how Kai was controlling them, like they were an extension of his blood. Xieling spread her spiritual sense to peer through Kai, but immediately her sense got close to Kai, and all the demonic energy in the surrounding area targeted her spiritual sense; they viewed her as an enemy.

Xieling quickly withdrew her senses, and surprise filled her face. Energy cannot be seen with physical eyes; it is like air that cannot be seen but felt. However, once a cultivator absorbs this energy into their body, they go through a transformation and become subdued and visible only when the user channels them out.

Therefore if one looks at Kai with physical eyes, they will only see him sitting down there like nothing is going on, however if they use their spiritual sense, they will see that Kai was wrapped in a cocoon of pure demonic energy.

Although Kai couldn't absorb them inside his body, he can basically use them as he desires, for example he learned that he can use them to reinforce his attack, he can use them as a form of armor, he can use them to support his leg for speed. But on the outside not inside. This is the difference between Kai and normal cultivators.

Normal cultivators will absorb energy into their body, store it in their Dantian which is their core zone, then if they want to use it, they will channel that energy through their meridians with their specific cultivation techniques. They can basically channel it to their legs, body, hands and from their body outward to any weapons or treasure.

However Kai is different, he can't do none of them, he only absorb, resources to temper his body to become stronger, he can't store them, nor channel energy through his meridian, but Kai is the king of all natural and purest form of energy, with his soul, he can control any energy, while his body act has the core organ to handle the energy.

Kai spent a whole day communicating and understanding the demonic energy around him. The next day he opened his eyes and a smile appeared on his face, he took a deep breath and his body felt relieved.

After resting for a while Kai took out the second technique he bought, he started reading but after reading it for ten minutes, Kai became sad cause he just realized a painful fact. He cannot practice any skills or techniques. His mood turned from happiness to sadness.

All techniques and skills required the user to channel energy in a specific way through their meridians and veins, in order to execute such techniques, even movement techniques require such a process not to talk of attacking techniques.

He sat down with a depressing mood, he wanted to cry but tears wouldn't come, he wanted to blame heaven but at the same time he felt grateful for being who he is.

Xieling was watching Kai from a distance and how his mood took a swift turn, she knew what Kai was going through, because she has been studying Kai since the first day she met him.

Some people will call Kai a cripple, who can't cultivate, in fact she felt like that when saw Kai the first time, but after studying him for a while she knew Kai has taken a unique path that only belongs to him. That was why she helped him.

Xieling took a step forward and when she arrived in front of Kai, she knocked his head so hard that the pain made him scream. "What's with the stupid depressing mood, after all you've been through will you let such small matters turn you to an idiot?" She said to him in a cold tone.

Kai was very confused, he made a thoughtful expression, at first he thought, how can he fight stronger people if he can't cultivate fighting techniques and other skills, how can he survive.

"You really are very stupid, why are you so bothered about techniques and skills?, don't you know that in front of absolute power all effort are in vain?, even if you know fighting techniques and skills in front of someone way too strong you can only watch helplessly as he takes your life". Xieling said with a cold tone, and hearing this Kai eye lit up.

He remembers his master teaching, "with absolute power all other things are useless", he thought to himself, what if I can't practice like other people, i can control the energy of the world, i will just overwhelm all my opponents with absolute strength and power.

His eyes lit up and a smile appeared on his face, he must not lose faith in himself. He looked at Xieling and bow to her to thank her for the motivation.

Xieling nodded and she told Kai not to worry about all techniques, he should only focus on three things, his body, his control over the energy, and his firm heart.

After that she explained to Kai that he should also focus on the basic saber art, he should learn to perfect them well, and this technique is all he needs, and when the time comes that he can execute perfectly he should try to reinforce each move with the energy he can control.

Realization dawned on Kai, he suddenly recalled his fight with Garos, he immediately closed his eyes, shut his senses and focused on recalling every detail of his fight with Garos.

He recalls the feelings of how he uses the energy with every of his attack, defense and speed. He recalled how he could feel Garos' attack through the surrounding energy, even before the attack arrived. He recalled his perfect sync he achieved with the surrounding energy.

Suddenly Kai was lost in the river of enlightenment. Xieling was surprised to see Kai enter this state easily. A state that every expert desires, and Kai just grasped the feelings with just a small pointer, so she leaves Kai alone.

Another day passed before Kai opened his eyes. His eyes were now much clearer, like an expert that has thousands of year's experience. A smile appeared on his face before he stood up.

His black heavy saber appeared in his hand, he stretched it forward and the energy within the surrounding surge toward the blade's sharp edge making it more sharper.

He started practicing every saber move, while reinforcing each move with the energy. In time each move became fluent, he did not release the attacks cause he knew it would deal too much damage to the training ground. So he was using his body to absorb the impact, making his body stronger also.

These went on for another few hours, before Xieling voice entered his head, informing him that it is time for the baptism. Kai quickly stopped his training, he went inside to bathe and eat the food prepared for him, before he left the courtyard.

When Kai arrived in the registration hall, he saw elder Liu waiting for him, he greeted him respectfully and the old man nodded his head before leading him out.

They were walking in the direction leading to the end of the inner sect, after walking for twenty minute, they arrived in a spacious land, and immediately a huge demonic vulture flew down.

Kai was surprised by such a huge bird and the demonic aura on this bird was close to the immortal realm. Elder Liu climbs on the vulture's back and invites Kai on it.
