War Of The Dukes

The novel largely focuses on 7 different houses excluding the royal house. It is high fantasy which means different races live within the same empire. The MC is not reincarnated or anything of the sorts mainly because I want him to be like all the other noble kids of his age and not feel his out of place and does not relate to others and the world. The power system is unique while also not confusing and hard to understand.

POV Hab

For the first time in ages the Duke was is in a good mood. For most people the Duke was a heartless old man who didn't care about anyone or anything, but those who truly knew him understood that behind that heartless persona of his was a grandfather who would do anything to protect his grandchild.

"I have already sent for Captain Luke of the Azura knights, but my Lord I think it is a bit too early to teach the young master about aura and mana circulation."

He didn't respond to my hesitation when it came to teaching aura and mana control the young master as such a young age. It was more surprising that the Duke wanted Captain Luke to be the one to do so. Surely anyone of the knights under him would be more than enough for the young master.

"He is a Grey, So he should be fine." He remarked after a long pause.

"As you command, My Lord.".

I left the throne room to let Lady Jasmine know of the situation.

POV Captain Luke

This morning I received a rather interesting letter from the Duke about my next assignment. Like everyone in the duchy I heard how the young master received five blessings which was unheard of in the history of the empire. Even the first emperor received four blessings which was considered as an official decree from the heavens to establish the empire. I could only imagine how young master Arthur receiving five blessings might shake the realm's political landscape.

I was ordered to make the young master my disciple, and teach about aura and mana circulation. While he wasn't old enough to even join the Royal Academy, the fact that he received five blessings was more than enough to make me interested in teaching him.

Pov Marquee Drake

My spies have discovered the fact that the heir of house Grey not only received five blessings but also was supposed to be a disciple of none other than the morning sword himself.

To receive five blessings was not expected since there wasn't a precedent for it in the history of the empire. This could ruin everything we planned so far, I couldn't have taken this into consideration for my plans.

It would have been better if we finished off house Grey when we had them on the ropes, but who knew that Duke Grey would actually use the emperor's token to buy himself time. "They" might not want to act out of principle but that would not stop me. I cannot let Arthur Grey grow up to threaten what I have worked hard for my entire life.

I am not sure if you guys like the pacing so far, so please let me how you feel about it.
