'That's the reason it's a dead man's switch and not a timer' I thought, as I left the vision.
'It's because as soon as the bomb on the oxygen pipeline explodes, it will cause a chain reaction throughout the hospital, and cause those holding the switch to panic and possibly let go of the switch, causing an even greater chain reaction. Then the peroxide that was sprayed everywhere will make sure that when the pipeline explodes things will catch fire, and eventually when the person holding the switch passes out from smoke, because they were locked in the room, the bombs will still go off.'
Looking at the nurses in front of me, I started to think of what to do with them.
The stares I had come from are the best bet to get them to the bottom floor quickly, but these guys must have people watching the front door…right?
Looking at the older nurse who seemed to be the calmest in the group, I asked her a question.
"How do I get to the basement, where the pipelines are?"
"On the bottom floor, there are a pair of red doors. They will bring you to a set of stairs that will take you to the basement. From there you should be able to just follow the pipes themselves to a room." She said in her gravelly voice.
'Two birds one stone.' I thought.
'I could deactivate the bomb on the pipe, and keep those who might also have bombs strapped to them, from accidentally releasing the switch, while getting the nurses to safety.'
Picking up the pistol I had set on the ground by me while I deactivated the vest, I stood up.
"Follow me and I will get all of you out of here." I said in a whisper.
Shakily, all of them stood.
Making my way to the door to the stairs, I slowly crept it open and listened for a moment, but didn't hear anything.
Pushing the door open, I motioned for the nurses to follow me, and to stay quiet.
Leading the group down the stairs, I made sure to keep my gun at the ready just in case.
We passed a few other doors on our way down, as I looked inside some of them, all I saw were empty rooms, and halls.
Making it to the bottom floor, I looked through the small glass window on the door.
Making sure to move slowly so if anyone was on watch, they wouldn't see any quick movement and draw their attention to me.
Looking around, I saw a large sitting room with gray chairs in long rows with a long reception desk in the front of the room.
What I also saw was a group of three men standing in a small huddle in front of the reception desk, all in conversation with each other.
All of them had large caliber weapons on slings around their necks.
But from the wooden stock I got a glimpse of, they were AKs or other variants.
My brain ran through various plans on how to either distract them, or how to take them out.
Turning to the group of nurses who were waiting patiently behind me, I spoke in a whisper.
"I'm going to distract them and take them out, one of you will need to watch through the window, so as soon as they are down all of you run for the main door while I cover all of you." I said, while looking at who would be the one to watch.
And as I expected, it was the older nurse who stepped forward.
"I'll do it." she said, her eyes steely.
I gave her a nod.
Taking a deep breath, I put my arm with the pistol in hand behind my back, as I hunched my back slightly.
'I better get an Oscar for this.' I couldn't help but think with a chuckle, as I quickly opened the door in a fake panic.
Limping out the door, I started yelling.
"THEY'RE EVERYWHERE, THEIR FUCKIN EVERYWHERE!!" I screamed as loud as I could manage, as I fast hobbled towards the group of men.
My appearance and yelling startled them, as I had hoped, and momentarily made them halt, and take steps back.
It's a natural reaction to seeing a blood soaked crazy person, be you terrorists or not.
Coming closer I only got louder and louder babbling nonsense, I even managed to add a few quotes from one of my favorite movies, just to seem ever more Loco.
But as I got within twenty feet, one of them broke from his startled state, and slowly raised one of his hands.
'Fucking idiots.' I couldn't help but think.
'Your terrorists, raise your gun and shoot me, don't raise your hand.' I thought, unable to stop myself from critiquing their sloppy work.
The man with the raised hand stepped closer to me with a confused face, as he looked up at my bloody form from head to feet.
But acting fast, I grabbed hold of his outstretched hand with an iron grip, while bringing the gun from behind my back to hover right under his chin.
"I hope you like led." I said with a chuckle, as I squeezed the trigger, Turning his head into a blood fountain.
His body went rigid almost immediately, as I pushed him to the side and started firing at his two buddy's, who were bringing their guns up all too late.
I managed to put two bullets in each of their skulls before the "clink" of an empty gun was heard.
Quickly dropping the Glock, I leaned down and grabbed the sling from the first man I had shot, and pulled it off of him.
It was an AK, which was a gun I wasn't familiar with, but taking a quick glance at the lever on the side and a slide, I figured it out easily enough.
Looking away from the gun for a moment, I caught a glimpse of the older nurse making it out of the hospital.
But I was distracted as I heard one of the close by doors opening up.
Whipping my head around, I saw a raised gun in my direction.
Not needing to think, I quickly started to side step as I raised my new AK and started to shoot back, and not a second too soon, as a bullet zipped past me and thought the space I had once been standing.
The higher caliber bullets of the AK smacked into the terrorists soft flesh, and kicked his body backwards.
And as soon as his body hit the ground, a quick flash of insight flashed through my head.
Dropping like a dead fish to the ground, I let the bullets that were aimed for my head fly over as I rolled on my stomach and saw the man who had just tried to kill me.
Firing three shots, I hit the man twice in the chest and once in the head, dropping him.
By this point my heart was starting to pound in my chest as the adrenaline was starting to course through my veins.
But this wasn't my first ride with Adrenaline, and I continued to breath in through the nose and out through the mouth.
Getting back to my feet, I swept the room with my gun, making sure there was nobody else hiding in the room.
But as I did so, the building softly shook, as a soft bumble echoed from outside.
Glimpsing at the door, I couldn't help but let out a sigh of exasperation.
'Just like the calvary to show up when the job is practically already finished, they're probably army too.' I thought, as the sounds coming from whatever that was, sounded a lot like a Blackhawk.
Not waiting for them to show up and steal all the glory, I started to look for those pesky red doors that should lead me to the bomb.
Stepping over the body of the terrorists in the doorway, I swept the hall that greeted me on the other side.
The once pristine white walls had a copious spraying of red mist from the dead doorway terrorist.
Ignoring that, I focused my mind, ready for anyone to pop up from anywhere.
As I went, I was forced to step over the body's of a few innocents, who looked to have been shot from the back as they tried to escape.
Passing a few empty rooms, I came to a four way intersection.
Looking down each, I looked for that damn red door, as my internal clock told me there was only a little under two minutes left.
Thankfully on the wall by my head was a small plaque with arrows pointing which way the basement was.
Turning down the right hall, I made sure not to get sloppy and rush myself as I went.
'Slow is smooth, smooth is fast' I said in my head.
The problem with what I was doing was, I didn't have the luxury to check every room as I passed them, and instead had to rely on my supernatural sense to tell me if someone came from behind me.
Finally making it to the end of the hall, I saw the red doors down a right hallway.
Taking the sling, I tossed it over my head, and adjusted it to my liking as I moved to the doors.
Slowly pushing it forward, I prayed there wasn't some sort of trap on it.
There wasn't, which didn't surprise me.
From the beginning this whole terrorist attack had been all sorts of sloppy.
And this was just another thing to add to my mental list.
It was like this whole attack was put together with spare parts and duct tape, instead of months of planning like an attack of this caliber might need.
Putting all of that to the back of my mind, I took the steeps down to the basement two at a time.
Finally making it to the concrete tunnels of the basement level of the hospital, I put the AK in a low ready position as I walked steadily through the tunnels. Following the blue pipe that ran along the top of the concrete corridors.
I started to panic as the concrete halls started to twist and turn and I still had no sight of where the pipeline ended.
Taking a corner at an intersection quicker than I should have, I saw the wall where the large turn off wheels for the pipes were and the beeping bomb.
But what I also saw was a fist heading right for me.
Whipping my head to the side, I accidentally banged my head into a wall as I tried to avoid the hit.
Stunned, and with my own blood now streaming down and into the left eye, I quickly tried to backpedal to get away from any follow on attacks, but I was too slow.
A second later I felt a hard kick land dead center on my chest, sending me sprawling backwards and onto my back hard, sending the AK to land hard next to me, while still connected to the strap.
"Fuck!" I coughed out, as I tried to fill my lungs with air.
"Sorry but you're not my type." a deep husky sounding voice said.
"Not in your lifetime bub." I said, as I quickly rolled away from an oncoming downward kick.
Keeping my left eye shut to keep my blood out of it, I watched as the man charged my prone self.
Rolling from my stomach to my back, I raised my bare feet to greet the charging bull of a man.
Seemingly unfazed at my new position, the man continued his charge.
'Dumb ass' I thought, as I lowered my feet at the last moment, to hit the man right on his left forward knee.
With a sickening "crack" his leg was hyperextended, and he came falling right onto me.
Not wasting a second, I grabbed hold of his hair, and twisted my body from under him to straddle his back.
Using my free hand, I pulled on my slings pull stapp to bring the banged up AK up to my chest and grabbed hold to the handle, then pulled the trigger, blowing the top half of his head clean off, and sending my ears ringing.
Not needing to think, I stumbled backwards and towards the bomb on the pipeline.
Quickly now, I stopped and looked at the timer.
"8…7…6…fuck"
Not thinking, I grabbed the bomb and yanked it free from the pipe.
Moving quickly I went to the corner of the interception and tossed it down the hall that didn't have pipes on the ceiling, then dove away for safety.
As soon as I hit the ground, an excruciating loud explosion filled my ears, forcing me to bring my arms up to cover my head and ears, as the ground shook underneath me.
For a solid five seconds the ground continuously vibrated, as the force from the large block of C4s traveled in all directions.
Lifting my head, I had the cough a few times, as I was surrounded by a cloud of dust and cement partials that filled the air.
Covering my mouth and nose with my hospital shirt, I slowly stood to my feet.
Making my way to the interception, I slowly looked down the corridor I had thrown the C4 and had to give a nod of approval.
'At least they got the bombs right.'
Turning, I stepped over the dead and now even more fucked up body of the man who tried to stop me from getting to the bomb, and started making my way out of the underground maze.
As I went, I saw the occasional crack on the wall, which made me think of how this hospital was going to need a lot of work done after all of this was finished.
As I went, I realized I had developed a bad limp from an unknown injury I had gotten from this whole side quest I had been on since I had woken.
Making it to the stairs back up and out of here, I had to take them slowly, as aches and pains I didn't know about while the adrenaline filled me, came to my attention, now that it was starting to leave.
But with determination, I finally made it to the red doors and pushed them open.
"HANDS…SHOW ME YOUR FUCKING HANDS!" A loud voice yelled at me, as soon as I stepped from the red doors.
"Alright. Look, here's my hands." I said, as I lifted both of my hands over my head, and clear away from the AK.
Standing in front of me was a group of five men, all in black combat gear from helmets to boots.
While three of them kept their guns pointed at me, two lowered their guns and stepped forward, using a knife to cut my sling away, before slamming me hard into the ground.
"Ahh, you ass holes. Take it easy, would ya, I'm kinda sore here."
"shut it" one of them said, before he slammed my face into the ground.
And that's when I decided to just shut my trap and wait, while keeping my head down.
"Hawkeye, we got one alive." One of the guys who had his gun constantly aimed at me said through his throat mice.
I didn't hear the response, but the guy motioned for the two guys that threw me to the group, to pick me up.
Not being in any way gentle, I was yanked to my feet, while a pair of handcuffs were put on my wrists.
As soon as I was secure, I was pushed through the halls towards the exit of the building.
Stopping in the main sitting area, I was forced to sit in one of the gray chairs, and wait for something.
I only had to wait for a few minutes before a man with a literal bow in his hands appeared from a side door holding three other deactivated vests stuffed with bombs.
Dropping them by the reception desk, the man with dirty blond hair watched Me all the while.
Then slowly walking towards me, I had to raise an eyebrow as he never once removed his bright blue eyes from my own.
Stopping a few feet in front of me, he just stood there.
Leaning back in the uncomfortable chair, I smacked my lips a few times, unwilling to be the first to speak.
And like an egg, bowman was the first.
"What is your name?" He asked sternly and with a stone face.
"Andrew Cole. Lance corporal, 88888888." I said simply, also with a stone face.
I saw the slightest twitch at the corner of the man's mouth as he continued to stare at me.
But he didn't say anything, and instead he turned and walked away.
