Chapter 13, The Sun is A Deadly Laser

Thump! Crackle! Screech!

The echoing noises verberated from the wheels. Clashing its old tires throughout the cracked roads of debri and other random other particles that ushered its way on the lane.

Investigating the view in front, it was odd how after some countless chattering with Gentle at the lonely roads—scavenging boxes that carried food and some drinks which he loaded onto the vehicle. The day hadn't seemed to end as the beam of light, reminiscent of the sun, stood its dominance upon the sky.

Drops of sweat fall slithered down from his brows to the abyss of his body. Kefir wiped it away with his arm, the vehicle within was getting warmer as each hour passed.

"Hey Gentle, you got any idea why the sun hasn't settled?" He asked while pouring some water on his body to cool the steam.

'Papa, I don't know but it could be somewhat related to this level of stage. After all, we haven't seen any unknown forces at bay approaching us other than the valleys, grasslands, and the road.' Replied Gentle, skeptical of what was ongoing here.

"Thanks for the analysis, I'll keep a note on that."

A couple hours passed on the bumpy road. Curving and taking some U-turns, the scenery had changed its illusion with the introduction of dryer grass alongside weed growing and the less luscious field of plants around the now drier and cracked roads.

His voice felt hoarse and dried as more constant pores of sweat began to emerge. Slicking his hair back— his fingers touched the outer metal of the car. Flinching back from the arising heat it bursted.

"Shit… I think I know what's going on." Groaned Kefir who felt his brain going smoke from almost heatstroke.

Splutter, splutter, Splash!

He cascaded his head with another bottle of water, drinking some to quench his thirst.

Resuming his speech; less raspy. "The Sun is the main fucker in this stage, it's gonna keep increasing the heat as continue on with this damned journey."

'Papa I agree with the spectacle, I also had the same suspicions for some time now!' Agreed Gentle who hinted its tone on praising its father.

It was still so ridiculous for Kefir as he thought about how far has come. From the halls of that bitch to the flesh-buds and shadowy rascals that significantly damaged him to this? If he told this story to anyone they would be comprehending his words as from a madman, someone who was high, or perhaps something from a crazy fever dream.

Squeezing the warm wheel where the leather cushion exhaled its heat. Kefir glanced at the tank gauge—noticing he had a decent amount of it to keep the truck going. The gauge is close to halfway before diminishing its oil.

Increasing hours dwindled by and now they were literally at a desert. During the trip, a couple stops were made as Kefir ate the snacks and couple drinks, the majority being water from the crates on the loaded truck.

Henceforth leading to a situation where water was spilled constantly on the vehicle to cool it down paired with Kefir and the food depleting as hunger twisted his rationality with the cramps of pain surging back. Bashing his brain into jambles of cereal flesh.

Hours flowed within the desert, glancing around the view. It was all sand, sand, and fucking sand. Kefir felt his will faltering though he held on relentlessly, unwilling to give up till an outline of mountains came into view followed by a sandstorm blocking the way.

"You gotta be kidding me" he grimaced; his eyes glued to the obstacle he probably has to overcome to get the hell out of this scorching heat.
