Chapter 12, Chance of Faith

Shuffling to the wrecked truck which he reckoned wouldn't have the keys inside, he crossed his fingers and prayed to anyone, just anyone to give me the blessing of not.. WALKING FUCKING MILES DOWN THIS ROAD.

Peeking to the window near the driver's seat, his fingers enveloped the scratchy surface of the car's door.

"God, Buddha, just literally any Gods… please just spare my ass I swear" Kefir screeched, trailing his eye upon the panels near the wheel.

'Papa? What are-' The voice intercepted his chanting before being counter-acted by him.

"SHUT UP— I AM HAVING A MOMENT HERE" Kefir retorted in non intentional anger, switching his tone immediately to a surprised expression.

"Sorry.. buddy, I just-" unable to complete his words, Kefir stood in pure utter joy. The magnificent glint of a key was visible. Stuck into the key-hole, awaiting its master to pump it up.

Unsealing the car door which resided in a jammed position that caused Kefir to kick it a few times. He hopped in and pressed his fingers amidst the smooth leather fabric of the wheel.

It did cause his left hand that was burned up severely to flinch randomly. Still this was the best situation faith could have endowed to poor him.

Who kicked-off the engine with the twist of the key. The hot air pumped out from the pipe of the truck as it roared its dusty engine with vigor.

"ZHZMZMZMHZZHM" -bursted the noises within the engine who was glad to once display its mighty self.

His eyes on the road as the cracked rear mirror reflected his own self. The appearance was remarkably different from the past Kefir.

It was pretty baffling to see how much he had just changed over the past days by experience.

He chuckled before averting his eyes towards the roads. The atmosphere of the car and the feeling of the wheel did bring faint memories to him of the excitement of receiving his first vehicle.

Gifted to him dearly by… a person whose face was blurry. It was upsetting for Kefir while he frowned.

He couldn't even remember who gave it to him nor what relationship he had with this person.

'Let's hope during this trip I can remember.' He thought to himself, casting this memory away for now.

'Papa… I'm sorry if you're upset, I wanted to know who you were talking about.. :(' the voice announced in a meek tone.

Taking a hint on the signifying sad tone the voice displaced, Kefir was oddly disappointed himself too.

"Hey, buddy. Look I'm sorry for the sudden outburst, can you forgive me?.." Replied Kefir as words spilled out of his tongue, why was he asking for forgiveness for the parasite? Was he getting attached to this thing?

Countless questions brawled in his scrawny brain, wincing momentarily for a moment. He was going mad for sure, why would he say sorry— the par-voice did support him in this journey that could have never happened.

If it didn't occupy his body-he would have been a corpse still rotting its stench on the first floor near the shutters but- argh, it was too frustrating for him to put much mental energy to it.

Staring at the far horizon perched on the sky accompanied by the rocky roads. It was nice to have someone to speak with.

"Hey kid" mumbled Kefir in a raspy voice.

'Yes, Papa?..' answered the voice.

"I have been calling you buddy this whole time, correct?"

'Mhmmm, yea?..' the voice said in confusion

Gawking the valleys, the deep blue sky and the grasslands who carried its breezy harmony he sighed.

"Gentle" he muttered, an expression of serenity and mixed emotions compacted his face.

'Papa?' Questioned the voice.

"It's your name from now on, I understand my naming sucks, moreover you probably have some lingering hostility deep inside you-" His words were intercepted by Gentle who spoke in a joyous tone.

'No! I l-like it, I really really love it Papa! Don't worry I will love you no matter what!' Gentle expressed in sincere gratitude from the stuttering of its voice.

His eyes raised temporarily. Kefir still held some suspicion it could be manipulating him with the sudden joyous sentence however…

"Thank you," He couldn't resist this moment of joy as a smile curved on his face.
