Chapter One Hundred and Thirty-Eight

A lingering silence followed. Ethan's heart pounded. This was the moment where Elsa was either going to pick his side over her sister's or finally let the fog fall off her eyes and see him for who he really was; a manipulator. 

He wished she understood that he loved her, that he cared about her, and that he wanted to be with her. However, some things were more important than love such as seeking a place in a world where he was fast losing touch with. This was his only way of securing a spot for himself in the world that was coming after the great war that was about to befall the city. He wished she understood this. 

The silence on the line went on for too long and Ethan began to panic. It was not like Elsa to keep quiet for so long with hum or turn down his request without asking why.
