Chapter One Hundred and Thirty-Nine

Vlad Keddrick was in an elated mood. Finally, all the pieces were falling into place. He was on his way to getting his rightful place and making the whole world bow to him and Vanessa Winthrop was on her way to posing her relevance, she and the entire human race. 

Being the mayor no longer mattered to him. What mattered now was getting The Book of Truth from Vanessa and using it to bring his plans to reality. How that was going to happen, he was not yet sure, but he had a plan. A plan he'd placed all his stakes on and hoped that it worked. 

Just then, he heard a light tapping on his door and he knew instantly who it was. His guest had just arrived. With a quick turn, he snapped his finger in the air and the door opened wide enough for his guest to enter.
