The not-so-great school life

Rainn uses another metro train to go to his school. The journey takes about twenty minutes. Rainn is grateful because there is a free transportation mode.

Everybody can take the metro train if they have the ID card of an Al'Modred citizen. If Rainn takes the taxis, his money will run out just to go to his school every day.

The scenery of Al'Modred city is bleak this morning. Cloud still hanging over the sky. As if prepared to pour the rain again whenever it was desired.

Silver Gate Highschool is located in the center of Al'Modred. Of some existing high schools, Silver Gate is the only one that provides scholarships to poor children or orphanages like him. And once again Rainn is grateful for it.

Rainn has just stepped up in the second year here. He just begin his semester.

He walked with the other student. They all have at least two or more friends who are walking together. But Rainn is alone.

He is not a person who can get along easily in the first place. And his status as a poor orphaned child makes more and more reasons for them to stay away from him.

Rainn doesn't concerned about it anymore after a long time. He did not care much about making friends. For him, humans are the same as the supernatural. They will suck your blood out or eat your flesh when you provide them with a chance.

He passed the corridor. Some people looked at him but immediately turned their faces again. As if they did not want to get him to look back.

"Heu! What did your mother cook for your breakfast?" A voice suddenly heard. Then the laughter echoed throughout the corridor. Rainn thought, don't they have any better insult?

Among the students in this school. Some of them may be the devil's offspring that happened to find Rainn as prey.

Arden and his horde came near Rainn. He's tired of their constant bullying almost every day. Rainn couldn't fight them back and win because of their numbers. But Rainn didn't back down and just let them do whatever they won't either.

"What you want?" Rainn asked. Staring toward Arden without fear as he walked. He is not afraid of him. It's just that he does not have the power to beat them.

"Heh," Arden snorted. "See this boy, have you not learned a single lesson after we beat you that day?"

Arden looks at him angrily.

Rainn doesn't feel like he needs to apologize for making him angry. He is not the one who will pay his salary like the supernatural hunter guild.

"Get outta my way," Rainn said.

Arden was grilled. The corridor stopped moving as if a button has been pressed. They just pay attention. Perhaps because for them to see a poor orphaned child getting beaten is a great way to start the day.

One fist of Arden landed on the Rainn's stomach. Arden is a person who is taller and bigger than him.

Rainn was pushed back to the wall. His stomach is in pain. But they did not stop there. The Arden gang came with a laugh and held his hands on his back.

Arden wanted to land the blow again toward Rainn. But his hand stopped in the air.

"When will you stop being silly like this?" The voice comes from a girl. He holds Arden's fist and stops it without meaningful effort.

Arden gangs that held Rainn loosened. And reflexively, they release Rainn's body. Let him go to fall weak on the floor.

The girl looked at Rainn. Rainn replied to her gaze. Their eyes met but from this situation, Rainn felt that the girl was looking down on him.

'Cih, no need to act like some justice warrior.' Rainn thought to himself.

Arden drew his hands from the girl's handle. He stared at Rainn, "You are lucky this time, bastard."

Then Arden and his gang walked away. The girl came to Rainn.

"You need help?" asked the girl.

Rainn wanted to immediately respond but the pain in his stomach hampered his voice. It took him a while until finally, Rainn could answer the question.

"No," Rainn answered. He tried to stand. The crowd in the corridor has been disbanded when it happens.

The girl reached out, but Rainn was picked up instantly, "Don't bother, I'm okay."

"Are you sure?"

Rainn looked at the girl. Their high is slightly different so Rainn must look down a little to stare her in the eyes.

"Yes," Rainn answered flatly. After that, he walked passed the girl. While still holding his stomach. Rainn was grateful he did not vomit. Or else the food he eats this morning will be futile.

The girl looked at Rainn's back away with wistful eyes. She often saw Rainn getting bullied by the hordes of that students. But he never asked for help. Either because he was embarrassed, or because he was a very long stubborn boy.

After sighing, the girl turned and walked in a different direction.

Rainn knows who the girl is. Everyone at Silver Gate High School knows who she is. Her name is Vyra Brynelle. And she is a supernatural hunter. One of the youngest and most talented. Trained by the family that has become supernatural hunters for generations.

She has good training, a good mentor, and a good environment.

Rainn knows Vyra is indeed good. But when he saw Vyra he could not refrain from not feeling smaller and weak. They are equally in the second year, but the differences between them are too great.

The difference in the way they were raised made Rainn distance himself from her and prefer to face the bully on his own. Although in the end he is more often getting beaten than actually beating them.

Schools start with a normal atmosphere. Rainn sat in the back near the window. Of course, he chose this seat himself.

But although close to the window and could look out at the scenery of Al'Modred city, Rainn rarely derived. He always pay attention to the lesson because he did not want to become more stupid and finally get more insignificant.

Even though in the end, his brain capacity will never make him a smart student. At least by learning diligently Rainn can escape the bottom rank.

He never despite being alive. Although life seemed to never side with him, Rainn remained alive. He knows that his life will only get worse.

So Rainn also has the principle he planted deep in his heart. If life hates him, he will also hate life back and use all the cells in his body to be at the highest point. Rainn intends to beat the life.

He once intended to kill himself. But then he felt like he would just become a loser if he give up dying.

For now, Rainn still doesn't know what exactly he needs to do. But, after all his age is still young. There is still a lot of time to try. No point in continuing to be depressed.

Suddenly in the middle of the lesson his phone vibrated. Rainn took his cellphone quietly and carefully.

A message from the Supernatural Group Hunter of Al'Modred city has entered his cell phone. Rainn opened it.

'The latest mission of The Triade guild has been announced.'
