Synopsis

Mia was a normal girl wanting love. After dying in a tragic accident, she awakes to find that she's turned into something sinister and begins to find her power. "Lamia, are you seeing this shit?" I internally asked as my eyes grew wide. "Give me control NOW" she yelled. As soon as I released for her to take control, the car was hit again, sliding forward at a speed that felt like we were still driving. Lamia lifted B's torso so he didn't scrape the road as we moved and dug my knees into the steering wheel. Once we stopped, Lamia planted us on the ground where the window used to be and jumped. She had to have jumped 10 foot easily. She landed, digging our knee into the road and leaving a small crater. Following the string from the second hit, whatever hit us was in the sky. Looking up Lamia thought "Well thats not good. It's got wings." Lamia took a quick scan of the surroundings and saw we were nowhere. The only light that showed were the headlights from the car on its side. "Listen Lamia", "I hear it" the slow beat of wings rang through the night sky when suddenly they stopped and we heard a whooshing sound. I could hear Lamia internally counting the seconds when she jumped unexpectedly towards the car hitting something mid-air before it could hit the vehicle again. "What was that?" I asked feeling the wings form around our body as we connected. "Silent. Concentrating." was all she said in return. The body lay silent 30 feet from us in the road. Lamia locked on to it and took a fighting stance facing it and again started her countdown. "I think its dead" I thought but she ignored me. When she hit 1, the cracking noise started. She ran towards it as it flipped an arm and planted it in the road. Before it even had a chance to really get up, she kicked at it with a force I had never seen before. The creature spread it wings and was gone before she could hit it. She planted her feet sliding across the road before we stopped. "Gressil I know it's you!" she yelled at the sky. After receiving no response, she yelled again "Don't make me kill you! You know I can!". The flapping came closer and we looked up to see a disgusting figure hovering over us looking over at us curiously. It looked like his face and skin was melting off. "Drop the act." she calmly stated.

Chapter 1Love gone wrong

I was always the outcast. I tried so hard to be perfect and fit in but I never did. As a teen, I always looked for love and always lost. I gave my body before they gave me their heart. There were a few that I think truly loved me but it always ended the same way. We always went our separate ways and they went on to find true love. I began to believe that I was destined to be alone until I met him. "Come along Mia, I have a surprise for you" he says as we make our way into downtown. My first time meeting Mike and there was an air about him that said he was safe. Traveling down a busy sidewalk, he held me close until he pulled a door open and suddenly the street disappeared. "My friend says they have the best coffee here" he says as he pulls out my chair. "Oh" I replied. My nerves on end and my stomach in knots. I'm pretty sure I had a light sweat starting to erupt across my face. I was always an extroverted introvert. In large crowds I could blend well but being one on one with someone I became awkward. He continues, "Yes ever since I've moved here that's all he raves about. You've gotta try the coffee". He says that last sentence in a tone that seems like he's mocking his friend. Seeing his hard jawline and crystal blue eyes light up, I giggle. He was very flamboyant and over exaggerated but by looking at him, you would have mistaken him for someone who was cold and rude. The waitress approaches and asks what we'll have. We both reply in conjunction "Coffee". That started a whirlwind romance that lasted almost six months. Extravagant trips, romantic dinners, and daily surprises by this man. He captured my heart totally. It moved quickly. I had never been so in tune with someone before and I wondered to myself if this was what true love was. Whenever I was sad or upset, he would comfort me. He was always there with little gifts, encouraging words, and constantly doing something to impress me. After two short months we decided to move in together. After moving in together it got even more blissful. He made sure that I had peace while also spoiling me. There was never a day that went by that he did not have a gift or a romantic dinner planned. Looking back I should have seen all of this as a warning, but being so young and naive, I didn't. I thrived in it always wanting more. Six months later, he had bought a boat and wanted to take it out. He had been acting distant for the past week and I thought what we had was dulling. I was preparing for the end. "Mia, are you ready to go?" he asks. He had on a simple T shirt and Cargo shorts but you could still see his carved body peeking out from underneath. "Let me grab my phone and I'll be ready!" I called out. Just in time to see him slip out the door. The sun was setting but I could still see his silhouette walking down to the dock. By the time I caught up, he already had the motor dropped and had the boat started. I climb into the boat steadily bracing myself for the rocking motion that was about to come. He was quiet on the way out which was not like him and I admit, I started getting nervous. We had come out a few times since he had gotten it but we always came out during the day. Scanning the horizon, I see a small island with what looked like a small lamp and table set on it. "Do you see that?" I ask. It was dark but I am sure that his jaw tightened. "Yes Mia, I see it. That's where we're going". Approaching the island, he shuts the motor off and jumps off the bow. He starts guiding the boat to the shore to tie it off and that's when I see it. It was a small table decorated with momentos that we had collected over the few short months we had spent together. Tickets, photos, and more lie on the table. He ties the boat to a tree near the shore and guides me off the boat towards the table. "Mia, ever since I met you, I feel alive. You have shown me true happiness this past half year we have spent together. I only want to show you love and light for the rest of your days. I want to protect you and keep you close." He starts to get down on one knee and this is it. He is really going to propose. It is finally my turn to get happily ever after and tears start to well in my eyes. He pulls my hand to his chest, " I don't know what I would ever do if I lost you. I would probably die of a broken heart and so I want to ask you, will you marry me?" I immediately blurt a "Yes" between tears and kneel down to hug him when he picks me up and starts to spin. There's a large boom noise and he abruptly stops spinning. Then he whispers, "Look up". When I look up it seems like millions of fireworks are going off all around us. This only leads to me clinging on tighter to him and choking out between sobs, "How, When, I love you". He only smiled and held me closer. Who knew the love I had for him would be my bitter end. He wanted a fast wedding and we planned to elope.
