Chapter 9 The Owl, The Thief and The Storm

Luke PoV

Me, Thalia and Annabeth have been separated from Grover due to the continuous attack from monsters. We'll try and find him later first we need to survive.

We were being overwhelmed by monsters and I was starting to tire. I saw Thalia was covered in wounds while Annabeth was breathing heavily.

I was distracted and didn't notice the Cyclops about to smash me, but someone saved my butt.

"Dude! Watch out! Go left!" Someone yelled.

I instinctively did what the voice told me and that what saved me to live another day.

I couldn't react in time when a vine wrapped around my stomach and pulled me towards a girl about Annabeth's age. Thalia and Annabeth was also pulled towards the girl.

We looked towards the girl with a questioning look.

"You do not want to be caught in the middle of those two monsters when they have 'fun'." She answered our unspoken question. As she said that the battle started, no the massacre started by those two monsters in children's clothing.

The kid with a sword charge in the middle of the momster horde. He was like a hurricane of death bringing destruction in its wake. Shooting ice spike with his free hand and water slices with his sword. I dare say that he was better at the than I am with how fluent his movements were.

The other kid summoned daggers and shadows?

Hellhounds made of shadows surrounded the horde and growled threateningly at them. While eagles made of shadows continuously claw at the cyclops from above.

The kid with daggers had a snake made of shadows coiled around him threateningly.

He ran towards the horde with a vicious smile.

"Attack!" He yelled.

He threw one of his daggers at one of the cyclops eye and used his other one to slice said cyclops neck.

The kid with the sword keep slicing any monster that came his way.

While the shadow monster keep attacking its fellow monster without care. Everytime it gets injured the injury quickly heals and they started attacking once more.

' What we struggled to do they easily did it in minutes.' Me/Thalia/Annabeth thought.

The girl with vines seemed to read our thoughts and said.

"Dont compare yourselves with them. Because those two are worse than monsters, their freaks of nature." She said with a exasperated sigh.

I unconsciously nod agreeing with her. I still couldn't believe what I'm seeing.

As the last monster fell they both got closer to each other and bump fist while grinning together.

The kid with daggers then looked around the battlefield filled with golden dust and said a whisper that echoed within my soul.

"Arise." He said with barely a whisper yet it echoed throughout the whole forest.

Then after he said thst shadows of the slained monster starts rise until they fully form into almost exact replica of the original monsters the only difference is that their made of shadows.

He nodded at them and they proceeded to enter his shadow?

I look at the girl with vines for an explanation but all got was a shrug.

I saw them walk towards us.

Ash PoV

After I absorb all my new shadows, Percy and I started to walk towards Katie and the three demigods.

I now had 27 shadows with Manda, Daze, 15 Hellhounds, 5 Eagles and 5 Cyclops.

Katie looked at us with a bored look while the three demigods look at us with awe.

I properly looked over the three demigods and realized that they were wounded and tired. Since the Furies said that they will be gone for a while its safe to bring them home.

I turned around and gestured them to follow me.

"Come on we have food and and some bandages at home." I said walking towards home.

Percy and Katie followed me without missing a beat.

The three demigods reluctant at first followed us in the end.

When we reached home I opened the door and saw my mom standing there with an angry look in her face. I instinctively look at the sky and saw that it was dark already. Percy, Katie and I exchanged nervous glances while the three demigods stood there not knowing what to do.

"Well how can you explain yourselves?" She asked.

Percy and Katie pushed me forward and acted innocent as if they didn't just abandoned me. 'Traitors' I thought.

"Well you see these three are our new friends. As you can see they got into a bit of trouble and we as there friends had to help them. Ain't that right Percy? Katie?" I asked trying to get support from my friends.

"Yup!" Percy/Katie said.

I looked at the three demigods with a look pleading for them to play along.

"Hey guys, introduce yourselves to my mom." I said.

Thankfully they did play along.

The only boy stepped forward and introduced himself.

"Hello Auntie, my name is Luke Castellan." He said. He pointed to the raven haired girl.

"She's Thalia Grace." He introduced her.

And lastly he pointed at the girl our age.

"She's Annabeth Chase." He introduced her aswell.

He did a 90 degree bow and said.

"Were sorry for intruding." He sincerely said.

At that my mom did a complete 360. She clapped her hands.

"Oh! That's quite alright. I wont ask how you got your injuries since my three little trouble makers sometimes go home with injuries so I think I got used to it. Ash would you be a dear and please get the medical supplies. Percy, Katie I already called your parents and told them that you will be sleeping over tonight. And will you three will also be sleeping over?"She asked.

" Yes they will. "I said as I stood up and to get the medical supllies. Percy and Katie jumped with joy happy to sleep over.

One hour later.

We were all gathered in my large room each of us on the floor with there own beds, pillows and blankets. We already introduced each other our names. My mom was downstairs watching TV after she patched up Luke, Thalia and Annabeth which they were thankful for.

We were eating McDonald's we had delivered for dinner in bed. After we ate Luke started the conversation.

"Ash, Percy, Katie thank you from the bottom of my heart for saving us and giving us food and shelter." He said with a serious face.

"That's right." Thalia/Annabeth said with a nod.

I waved them off and said

"That's alright were all demigods here and demigods should always help each other shouldn't they?" I said/asked.

Katie and Percy nodded at what I said.

Luke, Thalia and Annabeth didn't know how to respond. Before they can reply I cut them off.

"I forgot to ask but who are your godly parents anyway?" I curiously.

"Hermes." Luke said with a bit of disdain.

"Athena." Annabeth said proudly.

"Zeus." Thalia said a bit unsure.

"Big names." Percy said while whistling.

"Another Big 3."Katie said while face-palming.

" Another? "Thalia asked with suprise.

Katie pointed at herself and.

" Demeter. "She said. She pointed at Percy.

" Poseidon. " She boredly said. And lastly pointed at me.

" Hades. " She boredly said once more.

I pulled Katie, Percy and Thalia towards me and said.

" Yup! Welcome to the family Thalia! "I said with a grin. They half heartedly struggled from my hug but I know they liked it. I saw Luke and Annabeth with a nostalgic look on their faces. I pulled them towards me aswell.

" Of course you guys are our family to. " I said with my grin getting bigger.

And it disappeared as Percy hit my face with his pillow, officially starting the biggest demigod pillow wars in history.

We played until my mom entered my room.

"Alright kids it bedtime. Go to sleep."

"Yes mom." I said

"Yes Aunt Ruby." Percy/Katie/Annabeth/Thalia/Luke said.

With that each of us was laid in our own bed.

A few minutes past.

"Hey any you guys asleep yet?" I whispered / asked.

"Nope cant sleep." Percy said.

"Same." Katie said.

"After all that happened for the past few days I became afraid to close my eyes for too long." Luke said with a frown. I could see them since as a son of Hades I am born with night vision.

"Yeah..." Thalia reluctantly agreed.

"Are you guys sure that monsters wont attack us here?" Annabeth asked for the third time.

I sighed. I motioned for Katie to explain. She nods.

"There's no need to be scared Annabeth, you see we hunted every monster in the nearby area we basically declared this neighbourhood as a monster free zone. To be more careful Ash spreads his shadows throughout the whole neighbourhood incase a monster got close and they either kill it or warn Ash about it. So as you can see while you're with us you'll be safe. "Katie explained to Annabeth.

Annabeth just nodded. After that we all had a comfortable silence.

" Hey guys, since we all can't sleep let's share scary stories? " I said while looking aroud.

" Do any of you guys wanna start? No one? Guess I'll start." I said with a shrug.

"It all started when was 3 I was seeing transparent people which only I could see. They range from children to elderly lot of them were bloodied and some were missing their limbs" I started which caught their attention and made Annabeth and Katie pale and Luke and

Thalia started to sweat a bit.

A nervous looking Percy laugh awkwardly and said.

"Hehe, Ash you're joking right? You can't really see ghost right cause they dont exist right? " He asked. Giving others a look of hope.

I denied saying.

"Of course not I'm the son of Hades remember? Of course I can see ghost." I said making them lost their hopes.

"Why? Are you guys afraid?" I taunted at them.

They all quickly denied saying their not afraid.

"Good, because theirs a few ghost within this room right now." I said with a creepy smile.

Annabeth fainted. Katie looked like she was about to cry. Thalia took out her spear and looked around. Luke looked like he was ready for a fight. While Percy was nervously looking around.

" Relax~. "I tried to calm them.

" There's no evil ghost here just some gentle spirits running around they'll leave to another room when they get bored. " I said calming them a bit. I'm not really lying I see a two kids around our age playing with each other while two elderly watches them with gently a smile.

" Can you talk to ghost? "Katie asked.

" Yes,I can. "I said.

" Then can you make them leave? "Thalia asked.

" I can but I wont. "I said with a tone of finality.

" Why not? "Percy asked.

I sighed.

" You guys should know this wasn't always our house, those ghost they used to live here before I was even born. I dont know how they died but they had some regret and can't move on to the after life. "I said looking around seeing I caught all the conscious demigods attention. They looked sad for the ghost. Well atleast their not afraid anymore.

" I offered to help them get to the underworld but they refuse and wanted to do it their way, and who am I to force them to leave? " I said.

" Huh so their harmless? " Percy asked.

" Yep. " I replied popping then p.

"Whew! That's a relief, man you're good at telling scary stories." Percy said while wiping a sweat from his forehead.

The other demigods voicing their agreements.

'Well its not that really hard to scare a bunch of kids.' I thought with a sweatdrop.

"Just don't mess ghost and they will mind their own business. But if an evil spirit tries to haunt you just call me up and I'll deal with them, with the proper price of course." I said with a grin.

"Stingy." Percy/Thalia/Luke/Katie said.

"Shut up do you guys know how hard it is to deal with ghost." I said angrily.

They just laughed. It was infectious because I laughed aswell together with them after a few seconds.

Luke being the eldest had to be the responsible one. He clapped his hands and.

" Alright guys time to go sleep. " He told us.

"Alright." I said with a nod.

"Okay." Percy said.

"Sure."Katie said.

I heard Thalia murmured something but I couldn't make it out.

" Good night guys. "I said closing my eyes.

I received a bunch of good nights in return.
