A shattered dream

What a wonderful ending that would have been. But by now I've learnt the harsh reality, that things like that only happen in fairytales. Like a shattered piece of glass, it all fell to pieces.

I groaned in pain as I struggled to sit up. There were wires and tubes attached to me, belts holding me down. Wh- what? Why was I attached?

I tossed and turned. I ripped off my connections. I cried for help. Kicking off my sheets, I fought against my white night gown. My hands were firmly secured at my side, three black straps keeping my upper body in place. A metal clasp squeezed my neck.

I howled in fear and fury. My eyes were burning red, my nails tipped in my own blood from clenching my fists too hard.

"Let me go!! Raven! Rose!" I screamed my lungs sore.

"I will kill you all! I swear I'll kill you all!" I bared my teeth.

But nothing changed.

Nothing moved.

Silence.

It was only I in this big, empty white room.

I knew exactly where I was. I knew what was coming. And just then, I heard it.

The quiet squeaking wheels of the instrument tray. Slowly inching closer.

No! My eyes widened.

A bright light went on above me, burning my sensitive eyes.

No!! I yanked desperately at my restraints.

Masked faces bending over me. A syringe comes into view.

"Now don't worry. It's just a quick prick. You won't feel anything at all. So hold still."

"NOOOO!!!!" I roared.

But it was too late.

Several hours later I was sitting on my bed, facing the wall. Mindlessly I touched my lips.

You know, it only makes things worse when you do things like that. I sometimes even get my hopes up and actually believe it. I mentally said.

I'm sorry. I'm only trying to help you.

I felt like crying, hearing Raven's voice like that.

I'm the one supposed to be helping you. Tears started welling up in my eyes. Why did you do it? You could have just kept it a secret. Then none of this would have happened.

There was no response for a while.

I had to do it.

Well look where it's brought you! I was crying now. I couldn't help it.

You're chained up to a wall, in the dark, eyes covered every hour every day! You don't eat physically anymore, only through tubes. You can't move anymore and the only way you still can talk to me is by hurting yourself! It was so unfair!

I wailed and clenched my knees with my nails.

Please stop hurting yourself. You're bleeding. Raven said concerned.

I don't care! I sobbed. All I want is to die! I can't do this...

You're upset now. How about you rest for a bit.

I felt a golden warmth cloud the edges of my mind, soothing the pain.

I'm always here for you, fox. Don't forget.

I felt myself slowly drift off into sleep.

Raven... I closed my watery eyes.

Don't do this!
