Chapter 15 - Making plans for holidays
Samuel told me that, unlike other birthday parties, I didn't have to do anything to prepare. They need a fun event to make the kids happy and let them join in the fun. Invited children will have places to stay and play in the garden together. After talking with Sonia, they planned what they needed to do to have fun.
Even though William called them many times, the kids only wanted to eat once all their ideas were written down in a specific book.
Just as the butler was about to open the door because it was too late for dinner, they opened it without telling him. Before that, he heard footsteps approaching him, so he thought they would play. Sonia and Samuel, it turned out, had to leave.
The maids, who were always near William because Iaros told them to follow them from behind, could still hear the children shouting at them not to run in the hallways and make a fuss, but they ignored the words that were still trying to keep up with their speed and distance from each other.
"Inside," said the woman when someone knocked on her work door. She didn't keep her kids from doing things, even when she was working. She smiles and says she's sorry because she broke her promise.
"Mother is always like that; she forgets promises she makes by herself." Samuel lamented. She stroked her kids' heads and gave them warm hugs. She didn't want that moment to be ruined by other people, so she just told them to leave the room.
She folded the paper that Sonia held, which interested her. They were unsure about giving it to her, but no one would refuse someone's request if they put on a happy face. Sonia suggested a party to fill the time about to run out.
At that age, the children's writing was neat, and she was proud that they could say what she wanted from the start. She didn't refuse to ask questions that weren't clear from what Sonia had written, and she remembered that she had snacks and dinner ready because William had told her the kids hadn't left the room after playing in the greenhouse.
Sonia looked at the papers her mother had on her desk. She turned the boy's head while holding his head to pay attention to what Sonia and her brother wanted. They should have been able to come up with a plan. Samuel left them sleeping on the lounger with Kiki. Sonia and her mother had cleaned up what they had talked about earlier.
"Well, I think it's time for you to return to your room," said the woman. Sonia started to yawn and then said she wasn't tired. She picked up Samuel and carried him while Sonia woke Kiki to change beds.
"You must be healthy for the event for which you have prepared, and I don't want you to get sick until you get to school," she said. Sonia kept rubbing her eyes and followed her from behind. It was so quiet at night, and no one came to break the peace.
She gave William a copy of her kids' notes, telling the butler and those who worked for him to do what the book said. She didn't want anyone to bother her when putting her kids to bed.
She didn't want Iaros to think she had only been a wife and had forgotten about her responsibilities as a mother. She knew that Iaros couldn't leave the room, even if he just wanted to go to the bathroom.
It was another lucky time when she could be available without worrying about romance and passion or being with someone who should be loyal until the end of her life. Since the morning, people have been busy doing work given to them in the past. The kids were so excited to plan the party for tonight's opening. Sonia and Samuel invited all of their friends to meet there.
But since there wasn't much to see yet, they told them to go to the room set up for guests. Their parents just said goodbye to them in front of the mansion and went home. They were close enough that it didn't take long to get there.
Children who live outside the city will come after a few days of travelling long distances. Sonia saw that one of the maids had brought in a letter and took it from the silver tray where it was sitting.
"What's wrong, sister?" asked Samuel, who stood beside him. He thought Sonia was sad, so he showed her sister the letters. Samuel comforted Sonia because some people they had invited were on vacation with their families and couldn't come.
She asked, "Should we call it off?" Samuel didn't think that was true. People who came would feel bad because they thought they were being made fun of. Sonia heard what he said and agreed with the plan they had been making all along. Since the morning, they had been busy looking for the woman, but they couldn't find her anywhere.
They went to another room to tell him what would happen in the house over the next few days. Iaros sat on the white-covered bed and put his book down when he saw the kids running over.
"Are your plans done?" asked iaros, taking a nicely wrapped gift. He couldn't wait to open it and had already requested permission to do so in front of them. Iaros figures out that it's a present from his wife and thanks the person who brought it to him.
Iaros asked what they would do for a few days, and Samuel showed him the paper that had their plans for the next week. He was surprised that so many events were held, like birthday parties.
"Are you sure all of this is what you want to do?" Iaros questioned them. Sonia doesn't answer because their mom is on board with the plan. He was worried because there were many things they would do that would hurt them, especially one that would be done one day before school started.
They thought carefully about what his father said and asked for advice on what to do. After several changes, they finally remodelled and got ready for guests.
The music was heard everywhere because the event was for children to play games. The large room was only decorated with food and decorations, which made them feel at ease. Iaros stood on the balcony of the house's owner to greet guests and open the event officially, even though he was messing around. This had to be done because the head of the household did it. The event was official and allowed to happen by the king to happen.
"Where is their mother?" asked one of the guests in a whisper. They are okay with it if their parents are also there to represent them as guardians.
"See, Mr Iaros is still young and charming, but it's a shame..." They both stopped talking simultaneously. Anyone who saw that would try to hide what had happened that day, but they couldn't stop the truth at that moment. They both know that caring for a partner with a disability would make the other person's life harder.
Sonia and Samuel descended the stairs after Iaros permitted them to join the others. The opening of the event went well. Before Iaros left, he told his children to leave and said he was sorry he couldn't go with them.
They agreed because he had been in an accident from the start, so that he couldn't stand up properly, or because other people knew he was still seriously hurt. No matter what word got out that night, the kids' parents told them not to get too close to Sonia and Samuel.
People say bad things about their families after seeing and hearing the truth for themselves. They tried to ignore the rumours that were going around among the nobles at first, but when they got there, they were more convinced.
"I wish I hadn't brought my son with me if this family hadn't asked us to." One of the people standing up and holding a wine glass said. He was able to get the other half of the group to agree. The housemaids couldn't do anything to stop the other nobles from talking.
They are not told to stop that, and they still do an excellent job serving the guests. Children who like to play often ignore what their parents say and keep playing as if they don't know anything. They dance and play while being watched by adults.
