The System

"Rest in peace kid. If your family is still alive, I'll do my best to take care of them." Harold sighed before going on a knee and shutting Oliver's eyes. He walked away from the sense and towards his house, looking for comfort from his family.

What he didn't realize was that the black orb started melting covering Oliver's body and filling all his wounds with a black liquid.

The melting process took three hours before his whole body was covered by a black liquid.

From the outside, it looked like a black liquid flowing on the skin of a child. It created a beautiful and weird scene at the same time. Time passed and eventually, an hour went by.

After the hour passed the liquid started to get absorbed into the body it was covering revealing Oliver's body.

Oliver's eyes were still closed, but his body was fully healed. There were still scars on his body, but his chest moved up and down while his nose inhaled and exhaled oxygen representing his status as alive.

Oliver could open his eyes at any moment, but the ringing of notifications, an emotionless voice in his head, and confusion about how he was still alive made him stay down. After a few minutes of comprehension, he opened his lavender eyes and scanned the multiple light blue panels in front of him in black letters from top to bottom.

"I see so this system thing is what brought me back to life." He said in a surprisingly calm tone for someone who just died. Oliver skipped most of the messages as they were just percentages.

[Host most say 'System Interface' out loud or in head to interact with System]

Oliver was still confused about how words were magically appearing in his vision like in VR games, but he decided since the system revived him it didn't want to hurt him.

"System interface," He said in a confused tone.

All of the small notifications panels disappeared and a new list appeared.

"Wow!" Oliver exclaimed in amazement and curiosity as he watched the system screen change. He tried tapping host status as it was the first on the list, but nothing happened.

"Oh, Host Status." He said in embarrassment as the system told him he could only interact with it with words and he tried tapping it.

The rest of the options disappeared leaving Host Status and his status.

Confusion was written over Oliver's face as he saw his status as a Metahuman. He knew he wasn't one before, but seeing as the system brought him back from the dead he didn't hesitate to try it out.

Getting up he walked towards the nearest hut and punched it with all his strength.

Pieces of wood stone and metal flew as his hand passed through the wall with ease.

Oliver's breathing hurried as tears fell down his face.

"I'm a Metahuman!!!" He screamed with a huge grin and evil laugh for 5 minutes straight scaring all of the creatures in the area.

He couldn't contain himself after his dream was accomplished. He didn't know how or why, but he didn't care.

He was now a Metahuman and the list of things he wanted to do after becoming one could finally be achieved.

After calming down he read through the rest of his stats with a confused expression.

"System, that's your name, right? Why are there question marks after metahuman?"

His question was met by silence. Although it irked him a little he didn't mind it that much.

"System since when did I have a last name?" He asked.

His whole life his mother always called him by his first name and he didn't remember having and family name.

His question was met by silence again which made him think the system was ignoring him.

"Hello, system are you there."

[Yes.]

"Then why aren't you answering my questions," Oliver asked with a frown.

[Questions that aren't accessible, by the Host level will not be answered]

"How is me knowing why question marks are behind my race or how Hayes is last name not accessible by my level. I mean yeah I'm level zero, but still aren't they basic questions." He asked dumbfounded.

He was met once again with a silence that made him sigh. 'Calm down Oliver the system just brought me back to life. It won't ignore me forever maybe I just need to ask the right questions for it to answer me.' He thought breathing in and out.

"Ok system, I have two last questions that I hope you can answer." He waited to see if the system would react, but it didn't so he continued. "How do I level up and what is the energy stat mean with mana and ESP." Silently praying that the system would answer him.

[Leveling up can be done in many ways the most efficient ways would be completing Quests or killing.]

"I see." Oliver contemplated what the system said. He wanted to get stronger, but killing random people for power didn't seem right to him. So he decided to check Quest later.

The system waited until Oliver finished and then went on to explain energy.

[At the Host's level you can use 3 types of energy. Mana, ESP energy, and Bloodline Energy. Mana is the energy used by warriors & mages, ESP is used by hunters & espers, and Bloodline energy is used by hybrids. However, the Host's bloodlines are sealed right now so Host can only use ESP energy and Mana]

"Wait, so doesn't that mean I am already a tripled awakened and can become a quadruple!"

From Oliver's knowledge in the metahuman community, there were occasions when someone awakened different types of Metahumans powers.

They gained the status of double awakened for having two types of powers and then rare occasions when people could be tripled awakened.

However, for a nobody like Oliver, it would be very rare for him to become one unless he joined a big clan or family which had a long lineage of strong powers.

The order in which someone could become a tripled awakened was a delicate process that they couldn't control and the only way for someone to have a tripled awakening is in a certain order.

Skills could only be gained first or second after gaining an Esper ability as awakening your bloodline power, manifesting your mana core, or having an artificial core would deny you of gaining skills.

Oliver's Metahuman awakening was a first.

He got his skills, awakened his abilities, manifested his mana core, and activated his bloodline at the same time which would allow him to create a perfect synergy with them in the future.

Then Oliver was also special case because unlike normal people who had to go into dungeons for skills he got them from the system.

Oliver was so excited that he got up and did his little weird victory dance. Fortunately, no one saw him because if they did Oliver would die of embarrassment.

After finishing his dances and going over his stats one last time he remembered that the system said something was wrong about his bloodline.

"System can you tell me why my bloodline is sealed." He asked with confusion.

[The Host has two strong bloodlines and he will die if they are unsealed. However, once the host constitution is high enough they will be unsealed at the same time and the host will go through a metamorpose.]

"Oh, ok. Never mind then." He just came back to life and although he couldn't remember what happened when he died his body instinctively shivered. Although having 2 bloodlines sounded nice he didn't put much focus on it. He was satisfied with being a triple awakened Metahuman.

Distracting himself from his bloodline he moved on to the next list.

"System show my Attributes."

The Status screen disappeared and Oliver's Attributes were revealed.

"I see so these are my attributes and I can upgrade them by using Attribute Points, but I only have five," Oliver said while rubbing his chin. "System do I get more attribute points by leveling up or quests."

'Makes sense.' He thought while reading the description of what each attribute does.

"I can add my 5 points into anything besides intelligence right now as my Constitution is 3. I guess I should save my attribute points for now until I look at all my tabs. Then after I have to decide if I would balance my attributes or lean towards one or two attributes. Well, it all depends on which category my metahuman powers are," Oliver said while remembering the different categories of powers.

In the Metahuman community just like there were 5 different types of metahumans, there were different grades and categories for their powers.

The Grades for Powers from strongest to weakest were graded by the letters SSS, SS, S, A... to F. Anyone who awakened an F grade power would stay at the bottom of the Metahuman Society. While SSS grade powers were the highest grade in the Metahuman society.

Anyone who achieved this grade has the chance to become a powerhouse if given the chance to grow.

The different categories for Metahuman powers were separated by their functions: Attack, Defense, Mobility, Control, Support, and Special.
