Chapter 78

BNews Channel:

"It has come to our attention that an animal has been stolen from the animal rescue center. The information that we received from our reporter at the scene is that non of the guards on sight were hurt; as a matter of fact, it doesn't look like a break-in.

What is confusing to the authorities though, is whether the guards were in on the break-in or it was the previous group.

There is a lot that hasn't been answered, but one thing is for sure, the government is not happy. As it stands at the moment, everything is being done to ensure that the culprits are traced and the wolf is rescued.

"I remain yours truly Mandy Cooper; BNews."

After watching the news, Alex turned off his tab and continued running on the treadmill as he worked out in his home gym. He was proud of his warriors for not hurting any of the guards, and still breaking the wolf out cleanly.

One thing for sure, nothing could be traced back to them, but he was sure that the warriors left a small gift for the police.

As Alex got into the main lounge after his morning workout, he saw a lady seated and wondered who she was.

"Good morning, Sir" Dawson who had brought the lady a cup of coffee greeted Alex

"Good morning, Dawson" Alex responded, but still looked the lady's way.

Dawson saw it but kept his mouth shut in case the lady would feel uncomfortable. He believed that she had seen the Alpha's look.

It wasn't a welcoming one, but one wouldn't judge him because Alex hated strangers in his house.

"Hello, Mr. Ford" greeted the lady

Alex only nodded his head in response before heading to the stairs. As he ascended the stairs, he stopped halfway and turned to Dawson.

"Dawson, I have a meeting at 8:30 am, and it's already ten minutes past 7:00 am. Please, make me something lighter"

"Ok, Sir"

"Is there something wrong, doctor Maxine?" Dawson asked politely

After all, the Alpha always left an impression that left one overwhelmed. Dawson had seen how flustered she was and felt sorry for her.

"I am sorry about my boss," he thought to apologize to her since she is Luna's doctor.

"Of course not; I am not mad. It's fine" responded doctor Maxine

If someone had seen the way she had looked at Alex earlier, they could conclude that it was fear that was making her flustered, but the fact that she was attracted to the hot specimen of a man that had ascended the stairs.

"If you say so"

Dawson left for the kitchen to make something simple for the boss. He decided to go with the eggs and toast, plus a glass of milk.

In the lounge, doctor Maxinechecked her watch and decided that it was time for Malia's medication, so she headed up to clean her up before starting her treatment.

No sooner had she touched the doorknob, than the door was opened from inside. Alex came out and met the doctor on the way.

Gave her a cut nod, and then passed her. Doctor Maxine turned to look at him. The more she looked at the majestic man, the more she got attracted to him.

How can a man be this attractive and still look so unapproachable? Was that even possible? She had worked at the Central hospital but never met him. In fact, she never thought that their paths could ever cross since he was way up there. Working at a hospital affiliated with him was one thing, and knowing him personally was another.

"How lucky was that lady lying in bed to have him love and want her despite her health complications?

While on his way to work, Alex couldn't help but recall the way that doctor had looked at him. He even wondered why he remembered something so annoying as that "Disgusting" he mumbled under his breath

"Anything wrong, Sir?" asked the driver after seeing the look on Alex's face

He couldn't help but notice that Mr. Ford had come out of the house with the same disgruntled look.

"Maybe something went wrong at the office. That is why he is going in earlier" the driver thought to himself

Alex only shook his head and mumbled quietly that he was fine. He also asked him to drive fast so that they could make it before the morning traffic.

The driver nodded in response before speeding the car across the streets that were pulling in more cars the further they got into the busy part of town.

Alex who was still not content with having someone like that female doctor was still angry and decided to give the doctor a call to inquire when he would return.

The phone rang for a long before it was answered "When are you returning?" Alex spoke into the phone as soon as it was answered

Dr. Henry was on his way to give his presentation when his phone started to ring. He wanted to ignore it and thought others. He was thankful for that decision because it was his boss and Alpha's calling.

He told one of the guys to give him a minute because the call was important. He excused himself and went outside the room to speak more privately.

He could guess why the Alpha had called him: three days had passed and it was time for him to go back to his life.

After ending his call, Dr. Henry got onto the stage and also apologized to the audience. His lecture centered around research, especially about what had happened to the wolf.

He went deeper into the topic using the cases that he had handled over time as examples. He also spoke of the future of science in their country, especially with the deep play of technology as a major role player in aiding their field.

In conclusion, he gave accolades to the doctor and scientists that came to the frontline when they were needed and carried out their duties with utmost diligence.

"Without forgetting, I would like to talk about a topic that has been a talk of our country for close to a week now. I know that we are scientists and that research plays a very big part in this, but one thing I would like to communicate to us all is that we should not forget our humanity while doing that.

Both human and animal torture goes against who we are as scientists and doctors. How can one be ruthless as to harm a human or animal in the name of completing research?
