9 YEARS AGO...*Continuation on Chapter 5*
'Where am l?' Nehora thought as she saw herself engulfed in the darkness and not in the forest anymore. She felt fear creep inside her, the longer she stood in the darkness.
'Nehora, don't be afraid and go to the light.' a ethereal voice was heard in the darkness which Nehora flinch.
"Which light?" Nehora inquired and right after that bright white light appeared in a far distance and slowly she walked towards the brillaint light, deciding to trust the voice.
Finally, stepping into the light. She was met with the vast field filled with different coloured flowers. There was a sun shining up high and a blue sky filled with clouds. In the distance, there was a lone giant tree with pink leaves and surrounding it, was green grass.
There was a wind that blew around Nehora and the voice whispered, "Come towards the tree..."
Nehora was hesitant at first, but she complied and walked towards the tree, crossing the field of never-ending flowers. Once she arrived there, she saw something that made her eyes go awe.
There lied a giant winged wolf which looked so majestic under the tree. It's fur was golden and flickered like an undying dancing flame. It's wings as well were golden and eyes were fire-like amber just like Nehora's.
Once it saw Nehora was there, it stood, opening up its wings as it stretched itself and yawned. It stood 20 feet high, towering the small Nehora.
'Let me introduce myself once again. I am Hestia, your wolf spirit and nice to finally meet you personally.' Hestia uttered in a calm tone and she spoke telepathically to Nehora.
"You are my wolf..." Nehora uttered in disbelief while pointing at Hestia.
Hestia nodded her head in agreement and Nehora looked around, "What is this place and how did l get here?" she inquired.
'This place is the spirit core. It was created right after l came to existence and to answer your other question, you lost consciousness and ending up here. You must have been tired from all...that.'
'Right...l was attacked and my family...' Nehora gnashed her teeth in anger as it thought about what happened as she clutched her fists. Hestia stared at Nehora and felt her emotions.
"Wait! What about my body in the outside world?" Nehora inquired after realizing she was still unprotected in the outside world and may get attacked anytime.
'Don't worry, your body is protected by me, but not for long.'
She breathed out a sigh of relief, "How do l get out of here?"
'You just have to focus and imagine the outside world. This will help your soul teleport to your body. Oh! Remember to visit me.'
Nehora did as Hestia said and focused to get to her body. She felt herself go to some place and to her body.
Her eyes fluttered opened as she gasped for air and looked at her surroundings. 'I'm back.' she thought to herself.
It was around afternoon as birds chirped in sky and on trees. Nehora got on her feet and dusted off her clothes. 'Where should l go? l no longer have a place to call home...' she thought sadly looking in the direction of her once home.
'Nehora, l know how you feel, but we have to find some place to live in right now or we won't be able to survive.' Hestia uttered.
Nehora sighed, 'You're right. It's not the time for this rather let me think of our survival or else.'
She then started to go in the random direction far away from her fallen pack. She never knew where she will end up, but she had to bet on it after all she didn't have a choice.
After running for hours and walking as well, she was hungry and it was night time by then.
"Argh, l'm hungry and there is no food." she grumbled while walking in the dense forest, no civilization in sight.
'Since you are in need of food. Why don't you hunt?' Hestia suggested.
"What hunt?!"
'What? You have the ability to do so, but for now you can't use our full power since you are not 16 yet like shapeshifting fully. You can only extend your claws.'
"But that is a bit-*RUMBLE*" her stomach growled as she sighed.
"Fine, let's hunt before we die out of hunger." Nehora uttered unwillingly.
There wasn't much prey in this forest and can be considered safe in other words. It just had birds and crawling animals.
Luckily for Nehora, there were still birds available and with owls hooting in the night. With her hearing at the peak, she became a predator and once she sighted a bird up the tree, she was ready.
She hinged her legs with a crawls extended and jumped up. The leaves fluttered as she quickly grabbed the bird from the tree without it reacting in time, catching it of guard.
With that she fell down and landed safely as the bird made noises in her hand. 'Kill it.' Hestia uttered.
Nehora stared at its eyes and with determined eyes, she pierced her claws in the bird which was in her palm as life disappeared from it. It was cruel, but she had to do it for her survival.
'That is life so don't be too hard.' Hestia said trying to comfort Nehora.
Nehora just nodded her head and without hesitation began plucking out the feathers from the body of the bird. She wasn't skilled as the skin came off with the feathers in some parts, but it was fine.
After she was finally done, she held it in her hand, 'How do l cook it?' Nehora inquired as she looked in her surroundings.
'Eat it like that.'
'What?! While it is uncooked...raw.' Nehora thought in disgust, but Hestia rolled her eyes.
'How are you going to cook it then?' Hestia inquired as she sighed.
Nehora kept quiet as she stared at the bird in thought. She swallowed her saliva and without second thought, she quickly ate it and swallowed in disgust.
She wanted to vomit, but she held it in. 'Okay... that is the craziest and disgusting thing l did.'
'You will still do if you don't find a shelter.'
Nehora grumbled angrily as she knew Hestia was stating the truth.
With that said, she slept under one of the tree for the night. Even though it was cold, but she could handle it.
For a few days, she would run, hunt, rest and sleep. After what felt like forever, she finally saw buildings, a sign of civilization. A sense of relief washed over her fatigue body as she walked out in the opening.
"Finally a city."
