73 Infiltrator

Bai Shuixian did not know that Lu Lianhua had removed a few things from the hall, but even if she did know, she would not care much. Instead, since he teleported her to the front garden, allowing her to see the beautiful peony garden that was sprouting flowers of white, pink, red, and yellows, she wanted to create a black peony. Although black flowers are almost unheard of and only roses were known to grow a shade in black, she wanted to create a black peony for Xuan Yueji since she found it more special than ordinary roses that followed his name.

Though Bai Shuixian loved peonies, she did not experiment with them much and solely focused on the flowers related to her and the personas. It was not that she was not interested, but her time was taken up with learning more about daffodils, lotuses, chrysanthemums, roses, azaleas, and orchids. Every time she looked into those flowers, she would learn more and more, realizing how many different types of species and breeds there could be for one type of flower.

When wanting to experiment with a flower, the first thing one should do is to cut a sample of it off from the parent plant. Then, extract the seeds, cut the petals, and dissect the stem. In this way, it would be easy to gather the necessary information in order to breed new types of species.

Planning to follow the usual procedure, Bai Shuixian got out a shear. Prepared to cut, she walked to a beautiful red peony that still dripped water dew. Just when she put the flower stem in between the sharp ends of the shear, she heard a sound like the wind cutting through air heading towards her.

As soon as she heard the sound come closer to her, Bai Shuixian quickly moved from where she was standing. Moving from the pebbles that gathered around the flowers, she went towards the pond. Knowing that humans have yet to learn how to balance themselves on water, she jumped to the middle of the pond and stood on top of a water lily pad.

The invader that rudely interrupted her activity quickly aimed a pebble at Bai Shuixian and threw with force. The pebble broke in half upon coming into contact with Bai Shuixian. However, before it could pierce her skin, she moved from the pond to stand on top of the roof.

Seeing that Bai Shuixian was planning on dodging all of his moves, the stranger said, "Lady, you should stop moving."

Hearing his warning, Bai Shuixian did not flinch at all. Instead, she continued standing on the top of the roof, her flowy white dress moving along elegantly to the wind. When the stranger saw her like this, despite not seeing her face, he thought that she looked like a goddess.

With a grin, the stranger offered, "Lady, how about becoming my wife? I can promise you lots of glory. Even more glory than what this crown prince of the Lin Empire can offer."

Gaining the knowledge that this stranger knew she was with the crowned prince and already knowing early on that Xuan Yueji worked with the Lin Empire, Bai Shuixian rejected, "I don't know you are, so no."

"Well…" the stranger smiled and got out a silver whip, thinking that something pure like his weapon would be perfect to attack someone that looked clean like Bai Shuixian. "You leave me with no choice."

As soon as the stranger said those words, he jumped up with the intention to strike his whip at Bai Shuixian. However, the moment he swung his whip, she moved faster than the wind. The damage the whip incurred not on her body, but the roof tiles, making them slide to the concrete floor.

Standing on the roof, the stranger stared at the tiles that were now on the floor. He then moved his gaze to Bai Shuixian who was standing on the flat ground, seemingly weak. Once again, he smiled widely and slashed his whip towards her when he jumped down.

The moment the whip was about to hit her arm, Bai Shuixian shifted a little and made the whip miss. This continued as the man slish-slashed and she dodged back and forth, side to side. It made the stranger so exhausted that he completely gave up and started to yell at her quietly since he did not want to be exposed.

"Why the hell are you dodging? Are you not fighting?!" the stranger shouted out while standing at a distance from her.

Giving up, the stranger gave a final whiplash in anger. Who knew that this slash would actually hit Bai Shuixian? Even though it did not hurt her, it managed to take off the veil that covered her hair and face though.

Surprised, Bai Shuixian raised her hand to her face and covered it. She could not believe that someone managed to take off her veil. When was the last time someone has seen her face?

However, this was not the final surprise Bai Shuixian would get. Just after the stranger got shocked upon seeing her beautiful and cute face, the second prince and the eldest princess of the Lin Empire came in. The eldest princess was talking with a cheery voice, excited to see the blooming peonies and the prince staying silent just listening to her continue to talk and talk and talk.

Upon entering the garden and seeing Bai Shuixian standing defensive with the stranger in shock, Lin Yin immediately grabbed his sword and striked at the stranger. The moment that the stranger felt the pressure of the sword striking at him, he dodged and sprinted out of the palace.

Lin Yin did not give chase to the stranger, but instead looked at the young lady that was still covering her face with her sleeve. Thinking to himself, he acknowledged why Lin Dalong did not allow them to enter the garden for this hall now. It seems he had a secret to hide.

"2nd brother, who is this lady?" Lin Fen asked, staring at Bai Shuixian.

"Someone belonging to Dalong," Lin Yin answered, also staring at Bai Shuixian up and down while she was frantically trying to grab the veil that covered her face.

However, even after walking around for a while to get the veil, Bai Shuixian could not find it so she asked the siblings, "Excuse me, can you help get me my veil?"

Hearing her ask politely, Lin Yin came up with an idea in his head. Grabbing the veil from the floor, he stretched out his hand to give it to Bai Shuixian. However, the moment that she reached out to grab the veil, he moved his hand and pulled her hands down to reveal her face.

Shocked at the abrupt movement, Bai Shuixian lifted her face and stared straight into the eyes of Lin Yin. When he saw her face, he thought she was a goddess from the heavens. Silver eyes and beautiful white hair, a silver tear drop in the middle of her forehead as though it was a tear belonging to the skies.

Immediately after that though, Lin Dalong came into the garden. Receiving news from his shadow guards that someone managed to infiltrate into the palace he had spent energy trying to catch the imposter. In the end, the place that he reached was the hall belonging to Bai Shuixian.

The image that Lin Dalong saw upon entering was eternal peace and serenity. However, at the same time, he saw the wrist belonging to Lin Yin still holding onto Bai Shuixian's wrist. This made him annoyed for no reason, wanting to separate the couple into two different universes.

"Yin," Lin Dalong called with dark eyes.

Dropping his hand, Lin Yin turned to Lin Dalong and greeted, "Dalong. You're here."

Seeing Lin Fen who was also standing in shock at the cuteness of Bai Shuixian, Lin Dalong asked, "Yin, what are you guys doing here? I thought I told father to not allow anyone to come here."

With a wry smile, Lin Yin said, "Dalong, why don't you ask your dear little sister?"

Staring at Lin Fen with an unhappy face, Lin Dalong repeated the question to her, "What are you guys doing here?"

Standing tall and facing the floor in guiltiness, Lin Fen coquettishly called, "Long-ge… I wanted to see the flowers."

"There are flowers in your garden," Lin Dalong stated, irritated for no reason.

"But… Ge, you know that this hall of father's has the most beautiful flowers!" Lin Fen exclaimed with watery eyes. "Ge, you know that garden used to belong to great-grandmother…"

Pinching the bridge of his nose, Lin Dalong told them while trying to hold down his anger, "Return to your quarters at once."

With sad puppy eyes, Lin Fen left the garden with Lin Yin following her. His eyes staring at her with an expression that told her, "What did you expect?" He truly expected Lin Dalong to react in such a way.

Sighing, Lin Dalong turned to Bai Shuixian who had just put on the veil again and apologized, "I'm sorry about that. Were you hurt?"

"No," Bai Shuixian answered, distance clear in her tone. "I didn't expect him to do that."

"I'm sorry," Lin Dalong apologized again for the rashness of his siblings. "Those two are my siblings. Lin Yin is the second son, while Lin Fen is the eldest daughter."

"Oh," Bai Shuixian reacted while walking to look at the peonies that were wounded due to the whip from the stranger.

Seeing the short responses coming from her, Lin Dalong asked, "I didn't think that you barely moved in and there would be a drama happening already. Sorry. Um… How about moving into my mansion?"
