" You dey craze?!". The voice sounded familiar to Nicholas. He opened his eyes and found Mr. Kola standing in front of him. " Mr. Kola! What are you doing here",he asked. He looked around and realized he was no longer in the jewellery shop. "Is this your home? How did I get here? Where is the vampire?". " Calm down Nicholas. Which of your questions do you want me to answer first?". " You can start by explaining to me how I got here". "Well, I brought you here. You...". " How? Are you some kind of magician?".
"Don't compare me to a magician. Magicians are nothing but tricksters and con me men. But I, am Kolade Adeniran. The priest of the god, Panda". " Is that why you were able to teleport?". "Yeah. That's one of my many abilities", Mr. Kola replied.
A lot of weird things have been going on lately. First, I dreamt about a vampire and encountered one today. X-ray vision, incredible speed, super strength and weird dreams about ... I don't know. I don't understand anything. Nicholas had a lot in his head. He took a seat on Mr. Kola's couch, holding his head in confusion. "What's wrong kiddo?", Mr. Kola sat beside him. "Don't tell me you're still terrified by that vampire you saw at the shop". " Of course I am", Nicholas exclaimed. " I almost died", he said almost crying. " But you're a Pandarin. You could have just grabbed his neck and ripped his heart out", Mr. Kola said, trying to cheer him up. "A Pandarin? What is that?". " A Pandarin is someone who the Panda has gifted with special powers". " Ooookay. Where is this Panda?". "The Panda is inside you through this totem on your neck", Mr Kola replied touching the Panda totem on Nicholas neck. " But what about the weird dreams I've been having? There were people running, fire was everywhere. The village was being attacked by vampires. What does it mean?". " I'll be right back", Mr. Kola got up to leave.
He came back with a tray of food. "You must be hungry". It was already minutes past six. Nicholas had nothing but breakfast in his stomach. He was starving. "I'll tell you a story while you eat. " The Badé tribe once existed many years ago. We were a small tribe in the Western part of Africa. Our soil were fertile and the people flourished. But something strange began to happen. People were dying and on the body of the corpses there was always a bite mark. The witch doctors had no idea what it was. They assumed it was an animal attack. The best hunters in the village went out to hunt whatever beast was out there but never returned. Everyone looked to the Chief of the village for solution but he couldn't provide any. More and more people were dying. The vampires decided to launch a full on attack on the village. When they arrived, the Chief fought along side the men of the village. We thought they were warriors from some other village. But there was something strange about them.
Unlike us, they had no weapon. It would be an easy win, so we thought. In the heat of the battle, we saw the enemies feeding on the blood of our people. Their punches were strong enough to break our wooden shield and our swords couldn't bring them down to their knees. On seeing the slaughter of his people people in battle, he gave his week old child to me and made me promise to keep him safe. In that battle the Badé tribe was vanquished forever. And now, vampires are here in our city and its up to you to keep people safe". " What? How? I can't even control these abilities". " With time you'll", Mr. Kola smiled.
" Michael, you don't have to walk me home", Kate smiled at him. " I want to make sure you get home safely. I won't leave until I see you walk into the door of your house". " But you're not my body guard", she giggled. "I want to", Michael replied looking into her eyes. " Thank you for tonight Michael. I had a great time". "Me too. Kate you...", he stopped suddenly. It was a lovely night. The street was lonely and quiet. He stained his hears like he was trying to hear something. "What's wrong?", Kate asked, noticing the uneasiness on his face. Suddenly, he threw his fist past Kate's face. "What? Where you trying to hit me?!", Kate asked in shock. Michael didn't pay any attention to her. Her just stood still, looking past her. " Hey! I'm taking to you!", she shouted, getting irritated. "What are you looking at?". She turned around and saw a man standing a few steps aways from her. His eyes were glowing and his nails were long.
"What?! Are those fangs? Aaaaahh!". He ran towards her and all she could do was scream. Michael pushed her out of the way and wrestled with the vampire. He gave the vampire an uppercut throwing him up in the air. Kate sat on the floor, not believing what was happening in front of her eyes. " Michael is having the upper hand in this battle. But how can he be so strong and fast? How can he fight a creature like that", Kate thought. After a while of combat, Michael went to Kate.
"You've to go now. It's not safe here." "What about you? I'm not leaving you behind". "I'll be fine. You just...". The vampire picked Michael up by his jacket, threw him up in the air and jumped high to punch him to the ground. As the Vampire approached Kate, Michael held him from behind, yelling at Kate to run. She took to her heels, running as fast as her legs could carry her. She looked back and saw Michael taking in punches from the vampire. She kept running until she got to Chloe's house. Chloe's was closer than hers and she was too terrified to stay outdoor any longer
