The Diamond In The Rough✔

||Book 1 of the Diamond Series|| The world had fallen into chaos a long time ago. Creatures came and enslaved the human race: Vampires, Lycans/Werewolves and Demons. They took and slaughtered thousands of innocent people. Men, Women and Children. After suffering for ten years, another set of beings came. They had enormous wings and a shining silver rings floating above their heads. Rings that could be used as a weapon if necessary. These creatures were called 'Angels'. They were kind and honestly the opposite of every supernatural creature that existed in that era. They built their kingdom protecting as many humans as they could but the dark creatures had other things planed. There was a war that broke out. Every man for themselves or more specifically, every creature for themselves. The war went on for almost 500 years. Then there was a woman. She wasn't an Angel or Vampire or Lycan or Demon. Turns out she was a hybrid of all four. More powerful than anything. No one knows for sure how this hybrid was made and at some point, no one cared. Her name was Elaka. She was seen as a priestess. Elaka was the savior of all humans. She created a boarder and the world was divided in two: The Land of Light; was so peaceful that it had to be shielded from the world. Elaka had put a protective hidden wall around the kingdom so no one would come in unless brought in by the citizens. There were humans that lived there and their lives were a paradise. And total peace. And there was the Dark land. Where every other creature lived. The three major kingdoms tolerated each other for as long as they could. Years passed without war. Until Elaka suddenly vanished. Without her, the world would become chaotic again. The crystal was lost in the forest. So many have searched for it but never succeeded. Even if they ever found it, the legend says it was set in stone. It was glued to a tree and only 'The Diamond in The Rough' could pull it out. That person was never found.

CHAPTER 54:

King Cyrus' POV:

I was left in shock after Lyra walked out of the arena like that.

Though it wasn't her fault and I couldn't blame her for it.

Seeing as she won't forgive me I guess there's no point in staying.

I walked towards the exit of the castle when I was stopped by a small and frail looking maid.

"excuse me sire but the king requests you join him in the stables; he wants to talk to you"

I was willing to hear whatever he had to say; after all he was the one who prevented his wife from having me thrown out of their world.

The small maid ushered me to the stables where he was patting the head of one of the horses.

"you wanted to see me?"

"do you want to leave?" he asked out of the blue.

"excuse me?"

"do you want to leave here? Is your mission complete?" he turned to face me and began walking so I walked by his side.

"it's not but seeing as Lyra isn't ready to forgive me, I should go back to my own kingdom" defeat was laced in my voice.

"does it take a day to master a skill? Or to build a castle? No, it doesn't! because you asked her for her forgiveness today and she didn't accept you was to be expected. Why, if she DID forgive you today, I would call her a fool"

I had to stomach his words and not make it into a big deal while he continued.

"judging by the grudge she holds against you, it's obvious you did some terrible things while she was your slave; no doubt about that"

Memories of everything I had ever done hit me like a slap on the face and I couldn't help but feel instant regret all over again.

"she begged; she begged for me to stop and have mercy on her but I didn't listen; I hated what I did to her-"

"but it's all in the past and there's nothing you can do to change the past but you can make amends for the future. Listen; it's going to take a while before she comes around but you also have to show her you've changed; you have to win her over!"

He did have a point but I had no idea on how to start or what to do.

I've never been interested in women in all my life and even if I am, they normally come to me so I don't know what to do to get their attention and love.

"so what can I do?" I asked like a child seeking wisdom from his parent.

"that's a journey you'll have to take on your own. I don't know Lyra or what she likes but you'll figure it out but that doesn't mean you should quit. The maids will take you to your room and we all eat dinner together and the maids will summon you when it's time"…

...............

I had been looking out the window of my room.

It's become a habit now.

The sky was littered with many beautiful stars; if only I had someone here to enjoy it with me.

A soft knock pulled me out of my thoughts and a maid opened the doors.

"pardon me sir but it's time for dinner" and she left as quickly as she had arrived.

I asked for directions to the dining room on my way out and was immediately swallowed by my thoughts.

How would I make it up to her?

How do I prove that I've changed and I'm not as arrogant and selfish as I was before?

All these thoughts kept flowing through as I took my seat on the table.

In all honesty, I wasn't expecting anyone to talk to me.

I expected them to treat me like how Lyra did.

But that wasn't the case with this family.

"why do you have to be so pouty?" the little girl beside me remarked in a sassy manner.

"and what's your name?" I asked for the sake of conversation.

"Yura, that's Mae, Jaja, Imogen and Rayhan" she happily pointed at all her siblings with a grin.

"well; Yura, I'm pouty because I made a huge mistake and want to make up for it but I don't know where to start"

"well that's easy; start from the beginning"

I fought the urge to pinch the bridge of my nose so I let out a sigh instead.

"it's not that easy little girl-"

"since everyone is here, let's say our blessings" the queen called out and everyone clasped their hands together, closed their eyes and bowed their head.

I did the same, trying to avoid looking strange.

"we thank the priestess for this food and may she continue to see us through everything" there was a moment of silence before everyone raised their heads up.

The Priestess?

I've read about her in some old books and scrolls lying around in my library but had no proof to believe she exists.

"hey Yura?" I leaned closer to her and whispered.

"does the priestess really exist?"

She was about to answer before Imogen cut in.

"she does; the great Priestess Elaka stopped the last war, built our world and entire civilization from scratch and had Lyra before she died"

Wait?!

"did you say s-she had Lyra? Like Lyra is her daughter?" I looked at her dumbfounded.

"have you read anything about the cursed crystal that was stuck to a tree?" Imogen said casually as she ate as if there was no big deal about it.

I remembered reading that the crystal could only be pulled out by 'The Diamond in The Rough' but that person was never found and it would curse anyone who tried to pull it out of its resting place.

"yes, I've read about such a jewel"

"now look at Lyra's neck" I turned facing the opposite side of the table and observed Lyra laughing at a joke that was told by Eri.

The way she laughed was another melody on its own before talking about how her facial features changed in its own way.

How her eyes closed and her long lashes touched her cheeks, how she showed off her white, clear teeth.

My gaze eventually shifted to the jewel on her neck.

I don't know how to explain it but there was a certain aura it was giving off and a powerful one at that

And at that moment; everything clicked.

The reason why her blood was so sweet and tasty was because it wasn't only human blood but a mixture of every other kind of being.

It was the perfect combination of every kind of supernatural being there is.

Plus, ordinary human blood.

I ran my fingers through my hair after realizing everything.

The priestess and every legend around it was real.

What a day today has been.

But this information wasn't going to make Lyra forgive me and I had to work for it.

And I was ready to do anything to win her over.
