The Diamond In The Rough✔

||Book 1 of the Diamond Series|| The world had fallen into chaos a long time ago. Creatures came and enslaved the human race: Vampires, Lycans/Werewolves and Demons. They took and slaughtered thousands of innocent people. Men, Women and Children. After suffering for ten years, another set of beings came. They had enormous wings and a shining silver rings floating above their heads. Rings that could be used as a weapon if necessary. These creatures were called 'Angels'. They were kind and honestly the opposite of every supernatural creature that existed in that era. They built their kingdom protecting as many humans as they could but the dark creatures had other things planed. There was a war that broke out. Every man for themselves or more specifically, every creature for themselves. The war went on for almost 500 years. Then there was a woman. She wasn't an Angel or Vampire or Lycan or Demon. Turns out she was a hybrid of all four. More powerful than anything. No one knows for sure how this hybrid was made and at some point, no one cared. Her name was Elaka. She was seen as a priestess. Elaka was the savior of all humans. She created a boarder and the world was divided in two: The Land of Light; was so peaceful that it had to be shielded from the world. Elaka had put a protective hidden wall around the kingdom so no one would come in unless brought in by the citizens. There were humans that lived there and their lives were a paradise. And total peace. And there was the Dark land. Where every other creature lived. The three major kingdoms tolerated each other for as long as they could. Years passed without war. Until Elaka suddenly vanished. Without her, the world would become chaotic again. The crystal was lost in the forest. So many have searched for it but never succeeded. Even if they ever found it, the legend says it was set in stone. It was glued to a tree and only 'The Diamond in The Rough' could pull it out. That person was never found.

CHAPTER 53:

Lyra's POV:

Today got off to a great start.

Though the castle servants are busy with preparations for the ball and other things, we decided to head over to the arena.

Everyone wanted to see how Sam and Jaja had improved.

Tamar made the mistake of going easy on him and was defeated though it was a hard match since he and Sam are roughly the same age.

Now it was my turn to spar with Sam.

"aren't you going to pick a weapon?" he asked as I stood to face him.

"don't worry; when the time comes, I'll use it" I smirked and took my stance.

Darya had taught us how to fight with magic and made us spar every now and then, so now I wanted to test my abilities.

Sam took the first move by towards me with rapid speed.

I won't lie; he was fast but I had to be faster.

Before he could strike me with his sword, I opened a gate and was behind him.

Without giving him a chance to realize what happened, I kicked his back but he turned around in time to block.

The kick pushed him away and give me a safe distance between two of us.

I channeled my energy to my hands and placed it on the ground making the whole place vibrate.

But that wasn't enough to keep him down but it slowed him and he kept on moving towards me.

I didn't let him get close enough so I opened a gate small enough to let my hand pass through and got broad twin blades from the weapons cabinet.

I had to use these and fight with magic at the same time.

"clever" he remarked before going for my ribs and I used a small shield to block the attack.

It was my turn and I began swinging my swords around and about while he fortunately dodged them before jumping away.

It would be hard to land a hit at this distance so I brought forth a whip that was coated in my purple energy.

I swung it, trying to get a proper hit on his legs but he dodged carefully.

It was becoming difficult to fight with the swords and the whip at the same time so I put them back and brought forth another whip with my other free hand.

Sam used his blades to shorten the whip while trying to evade them at the same time.

I eventually had one wrapped around his leg, knocked him to the ground and dragged him closer to me.

He had the intention of using his sword on my calves so I jumped in the air to evade it.

Sam used that time to free himself from the whip and stood up just as my feet touched the ground.

He tightened his grip around the handle of the sword and this time I ran towards him.

Using my magical powers, the sand around us rose and turned into dust making it difficult for him to see but I could.

I saw him standing trying to keep the dust out of his eyes and just as the dust was about to clear, I went for his legs and knocked him to the ground.

He looked at me with shock.

"I win" I offered him my hand so he could stand.

"yeah why wouldn't you? You have magic remember?" he coughed while taking my hand and standing.

"that was fun to watch. Thanks for avenging my Lyra" Tamar smiled from his seat.

"I'm beat and could use a little bit of relaxing" Imogen stretched.

"yeah; we've barely been to any recreational spot since we got here" Eri added.

"ahem!" someone cleared their throat to get our attention and I couldn't believe who I saw.

IT WAS KING CYRUS IN THE FLESH!

HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?

HOW DID HE FIND ME?!

There was a thick tension in the air that could crush metal.

I wasn't the only one who was shocked and terrified at the same time.

Though we had left his castle, we were still scared of him.

I began to feel like I couldn't breathe and like I was under the sea!

He cleared his throat and spoke.

"I don't mean to barge in on you but I need to talk to Lyra so could you please give us the room?" his voice wasn't as demanding as it usually was and he added please.

Hearing him say he wanted to talk to me in private made the room spin and for some odd reason, my back began to hurt.

It had never happened before but the pain was something else.

"I don't think he can do you any harm Lyra. And he doesn't seem like a threat; if he were my parents would have turned him down and asked him to leave the city" Rayhan reassured me.

Everyone was reluctant to leave but they did; leaving me and the King alone like those harsh weeks I spent as his slave.

"what do you want?" I muttered turning away from him.

He wasn't dressed like he normally would; I'm guessing he did this so it would be easy to track us.

"to talk to you-"

"what do you really want? Don't pretend!" I wanted him to get to the point so we could get this over with.

"I came to apologize to you" the world froze.

That word coming out from his mouth sounded foreign and I thought I didn't hear well at first.

"I don't believe the king of all vampires came all this way to say sorry. It sounds too good to be true"

"but it is true. I've changed and realized my mistake. I came all this way to beg and ask for you to forgive me"

It still sounded like a big, fat lie to me and anyone who heard it.

"how do you expect me to easily forgive you after everything you put me through as your slave?"

He looked like the words hurt him but he could be pretending just to get me back to the palace to torment me.

"I know I was wrong to treat you that way and I truly am sorry but it wasn't like that…you wouldn't understand; I was in pain"

"I WOULDN'T UNDERSTAND? DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR RACE HAS PUT ME THROUGH? ME AND THOSE I LOVE?!" my eyes began to sting but I choked back the tears.

This was no time for that.

I walked up to him and stopped at the door.

"I never want to see you again; you only bring back bad and unpleasant memories" he needed to hear it.

He didn't care how I felt when he fed off me like an animal so why should I care how he feels; if he even has feelings.

With that, I shut the door and didn't look back.
