54. Confirmation

"So Rei tell me what happened," asked Jim.

Rei cleared his throat and told him the whole story. He tells him how he went to play and also how he heard Tensei. Hearing his words, Jim had various emotions on his face. He wrote down some points on what he heard. After Rei completed his story Jim was left in awe.

After thinking for some time Jim gained his cool and said, "That is good Rei. If you feel you can play baseball again then it is more than enough."

Rei only nods and doesn't say anything in return. Jim stands up and takes out a baseball from the closet and throws it over towards Rei. Catching the ball Rei looked at Jim in confusion.

Jim waved his hands and said, "Let's play for some time Rei."

They both continue to throw the ball at each other for some time and sit back down. Jim had a proud look on his face seeing Rei. He could not be happier seeing his patient overcome trauma and return normal. He felt the hurdles they faced these past 2 years were for this moment.

"Ok then Rei, for now, go out and sit. Tell Narumi to come in."

Rei nodded and went outside. He looked at Narumi who was sitting on a chair and said, "Oba-san, the Doctor is calling for you."

Narumi didn't say anything and went inside the room. Sitting on the chair, Rei thought about how he has passed the hurdle he always faced till now.

*INSIDE THE ROOM*

Narumi took the seat across Jim and asked "Is it cured, Jim?"

Jim nodded and said slowly, "Yes Narumi it is mostly cured. I played with him and he didn't have any panic attacks. But we should still be cautious and take it slow. Bring him back if anything happens to him."

Nodding, Narumi stood up from her seat and said while bowing a bit, "Thank you a lot Jim for helping Rei."

Jim waved his hand and said in a hurry, "It is nothing Narumi. He is my patient and it is my duty to help him."

Narumi nodded and went outside the room. She went towards Rei and said, "Ok now let's go back."

Rei stood up from his seat and went out. Sitting in the car Narumi asks Rei, "Shall we have a party tonight Rei."

Rei thought about it and shakes his head, "We can have on after Oji-san comes back Oba-san"

Hearing him Narumi nodded and both of them went back in silence. Reaching home Rei went towards the hall to relax and watch some television. He turns the television on and switches it to a random program.

Sora came in after some time and sat beside Rei. He asked, "What did the doctor say, Rei."

Rei replied without moving his head, "He said I am fine now and I can play."

Sora nodded and didn't say anything. Both of them continued to watch until Meiko called them for lunch. Completing his lunch Rei made his way towards his room. Before he could go inside he heard Meiko, "Rei let's go to the park and play some baseball."

As he had nothing to do Rei accepted and got his glove. All three of them made their way toward the park talking about baseball. Reaching the park they went to a clear place and spread out.

They started playing until the sun started to set. Rei missed quite a lot of the balls thrown at him but was slowly getting back into shape. They made their way towards home but Meiko suddenly stopped on the way and looked towards a Convenience store.

Noticing her not moving, Rei and Sora also stopped. Sora looked towards her and asked, "What's wrong let's go."

Meiko simply said," Stop, I need to get something." and went inside.

Sora could only sigh and wait with Rei outside. After a while, Meiko comes out with an ice cream in one of her hands and a plastic bag in another. Giving the bag to Rei she continued to eat her ice cream with a blissful smile.

Opening the bag Rei saw two ice creams and took one, handing the other to Sora. Confused, Sora asked Meiko, "Why did you suddenly buy ice creams."

"I felt like eating one so bought one for all of us. If you don't want it give it to me." shrugging answered Meiko.

Sora didn't reply and started to eat his ice cream. Eating their ice creams all three of them made their way back with happy expressions. Reaching home they went inside and Rei made his way towards his room.

He started to talk with his friends while sleeping on his bed. He got to know both of them will come back to town by the end of summer. He didn't tell them about him playing baseball again and wanted it to be a secret.

Both Keiko and Mizuki know about Rei not playing baseball due to a condition he has. Rei did not tell him about Tensei's death and only told them that he was living with the Kamizato family. He wasn't comfortable with sharing about Tensei's death to anyone yet.

After talking a while he went towards the shelf and opened it. He saw all his clothes but he sat down and looked at the kit on the last shelf. He slowly took it out and caressed it. He thought, 'I am finally going to use it Otou-san.'

He woke up from his thought when he heard Meiko calling him for dinner. Keeping it back in place inside he closed the door and went towards the dining room. Sitting on his chair everyone started to eat. After helping Narumi with the dishes he went back to his room.

He couldn't help but feel excited about the thought of playing baseball. He had some thoughts on if he could but after the confirmation from Jim, he was completely convinced. He slowly closed his eyes and slept peacefully.
