The Devouring Menace | Omni-realities

I somehow became Ralph in Rampage after a short meeting with a Primordial sicko. Well, I was tired of being human and that didn't make feel bad. But you know, life as a monster isn't easy. I have only one job to survive... To evolve and keep on evolving until I become the apex predator across all realities. *** A/N: MC's power is the same as the Zerg. R-19

From Dr Kate Caldwell to the cowboy and then to the Colonel, all couldn't believe what had just occurred.

It was simply inconceivable.

Dr. Caldwell closed her mouth, trying to hold back the sorrowful cry from escaping her throat.

She couldn't believe that… that the strong man she had come to know for a couple of days and had a good impression of, had died just like that.

His tall muscular body crushed under the weight of a giant wolf monster. A creature whose very existence could be said to have been created as a result of her own gene editing research.

Dr. Caldwell heavily blamed herself for the death of her friend and countless other humans.

Agent Harvey Russell patted her shoulder to offer her some semblance of consolation.

"Everything's gonna be okay." Agent Harvey sucked in calming down a grieving person.

"The culprit is still out there. We don't know what that monster is going to do next."

Dr. Caldwell's fingers visibly shook as she tried to wipe away the tears from her face.

"I know."

She then deeply exhaled, her eyes slightly red from the cries.

"Dr. Caldwell, you are the only one who knows about those monsters better than anyone. What do you have to say about what we saw?" The Colonel slowly asked with a grave expression on his face.

The Colonel had a lot of questions in his mind.

How the hell could a living creature survive the bombardment of a MOAB, two to be exact?

Did he have to resort to proposing a nuclear war plan? Such a decision needed to be revised back at the Pentagon.

Dr. Caldwell cleared her throat before speaking.

"While It's true what Energyne created could cause unforeseen changes to an infected organism, what has happened to the wolf is not what I expected."

Dr. Caldwell took a pause and inhaled.

"This wolf…"

"I heard he's called Ralph." Agent Harvey cut in.

Dr. Caldwell stared daggers at him.

"Agent Harvey, please have some respect and take the situation seriously." The Colonel warned

Agent Harvey shut his mouth.

"You may continue Dr. Caldwell."

Dr. Caldwell nodded.

"This wolf or Ralph, as Agent Harvey here likes to call him - that you might think is his pet - isn't just randomly rampaging as the two others had previously done."

"George was a special case and R-19 did its part well. But for Ralph, I can't predict or fathom his behavioural pattern."

"Dr. Caldwell if I may ask, what is this high-sounding word 'R-19'? Unlike you, I am not the brightest bulb in the house." Agent Harvey crossed his arms to mask his own embarrassment.

The Colonel maintained a dignified expression.

"R-19 was designed to counter the rampaging syndrome caused by Pathogen-R. That's why George retained his rationality after being given one." Dr. Caldwell explained.

"Can this R-19 stop the creature's spontaneous growth progression?" The Colonel asked.

"No. The growth changes are irreversible." Dr. Caldwell shook her head.

"But how could it survive the MOABs and remain unscathed when we had perfectly locked on its position through the drone feeds?" The Colonel frowned.

"That… I don't understand. What I know is that the three had excellent regeneration as a result of the African spiny rat's DNA which made them resistant to conventional weaponry without problems. But surviving a MOAB would be too far-fetched, they could even possibly die." Dr. Caldwell impatiently ran her hand through her black hair.

"A mutation? An evolution maybe? But how?" Dr. Caldwell lightly bit her thumb.

"Dr. Caldwell? Dr. Caldwell?!" The Colonel called out.

Dr. Caldwell stopped her unusual actions before sighing.

Her shoulders were tense and her body tired after those catastrophic events had occurred

She clutched her forehead and after a moment of thinking, she looked at the two men.

"We are possibly dealing with an evolved creature whose intelligence isn't lesser than us. This matter is surely going to stir up currents all over the world."

"I don't think R-19 would work on it unless we created an antidote that can miraculously halt its mutation and disrupt its evolution cycle."

The atmosphere was truly grave.

All eyes from various world powers were surely going to direct most of their attention to the US.

They were surely going to laugh at their misfortunes.

"Can such an antidote ever be made?" The Colonel asked with a little bit of hope showing in his dark eyes.

"That's where the problem is, Colonel. It's simply impossible." Dr. Caldwell's immediate answer shattered his hope.

"General, I think this would have to involve the President." Agent Harvey commented with a serious tone.

"I know." The Colonel tightly pressed his lips against each other before sighing.

America was facing an urgent crisis that needed to be resolved sooner before that creature caused any other devastating damage to other states.

"Patey, connect me to the Pentagon ASAP." The Colonel issued a command to the tech guy.

"Roger that, sir!"

A nuclear warhead plan was about to be put into motion!

[MC'S POV]

Eating George's meat had made me slightly muscular but my forelimbs and shoulders were the most defined.

It looked as if I had been bench-pressing the tectonic plates.

Two days have passed since the bombing, and during those days I have been consuming nuclear power to grow.

I have also grown a little bit.

[Sound Mimicry] was pretty self-explanatory.

It could mimic sounds produced by other living organisms. I could even imitate the frequencies to perfection.

Though it wasn't battle-oriented and was mostly useless, I had decided to keep it nonetheless.

I remember getting the skill from a bird which was an endangered species from Australia called the Lyrebird.

[Superior Venom Fang] was formed after I consumed a lot of animals with the deadliest venom in the entire animal kingdom. One scratch from my fangs had been enough to take out the world's largest mammal within seconds. The venom was lightning fast, destroying the CNS and cardiac muscles in such a short time. It didn't matter if the target had a small or huge body.

Australia was truly a wonderland.

Then I had also gone to South America, specifically Brazil, to eat electric eels and anacondas in the Amazon Forest.

I had nearly driven them to extinction.

I could currently deliver over 30 million volts to my opponents courtesy of the [Bioelectric skin] which could generate electric currents and was sensitive towards electric fields.

I feel that I was growing closer and closer to another evolution.

And the Rampage Universe had started losing its worth in terms of resources.

Am I going to spend my life in such a place with no excitement?

Sometimes being born non-human was a headache but anyway, it also had its own fun.
