Chapter 8: Too much to kill so little time

'She really was evil.' Alex thought, 'but who am I to judge.'

Star could not help but inwardly nod his head in approval at Alex's tactic. Even though there were harsher ways to kill her, this was not bad at all.

Alex did not bother to clean up the scene. Suspect anyone you want; he was in jail with no mana. Alex could afford to waste any more time since there were three hours until the sun would rise. He needed to visit weapons, clothing, and potion shops, loot everything of value and continue his chaos spree.

Alex blinked to the nearest weapon store, then open a rift and enter the void; once inside, Alex first checked each room for a guard. Even though he did not see any, he stayed in the void and picked weapons that he found suited for him. He looted throwing knives, needles, short throwing axes, daggers, bow, and arrows. Mostly onetime use items since he would use them once or throw at his opponent from a distance.

In the shop, Alex was able to find two soft jet-black scabbards for his ghost blades. He attached the scabbard to the side of each of his legs. There was minor discomfort, but he made sure that they did not hinder his movement. To his surprise, the cuisse (thigh sleeves of the armor) sucked in both scabbards and morphed to a similar shape creating its own sheaths for the ghost blades before spitting both scabbards out. As if the armor was disguised at Alex's actions. Alex was astounded; the scabbards of the armor felt better and more fluid.

He continued his looting spree. There were no weapons that added stats points like his ghost blades. Alex then went to the store next door; he did the same thing. He looted clothes to change out of the rags he was wearing. Alex hated them. He picked out a set of black tight long sleeve shirts and long pants to allow him to fight with no hindrance. Alex also took a soft long, leather black trench coat with a pop collar design, silver buttons, two orange stripes on the side of the arm sleeve descending from the shoulder to the wrist on one arm. The other arm sleeve had no design, but the shoulder had two orange stripes. The coat resemblance was close to what a pirate wore, but Alex looked like a general in it. The coat orange stripes on the shoulders and sleeve matched the orange swirl pattern on his armor. Which seemed too serene and matched his eyes when they were orange. The trench coat covered his ghost blades, hiding them while the armor morphed into the long-sleeved shirt and pants (hiding).

Alex then went to two butcher stores and loot every single piece of meat. Meat was costly in the ash kingdom, and there were only two butcheries in the town, 'I Am sure that the owner will have a heart attack, hahaha' Alex thought, 'On to the next.'

This time he looted potions, storage rings, storage bracelets, belts, talismans, gold from every store he entered, mana stones for recording, and everyday essentials like rope or flesh-eating insects. Alex did this three more times since you could never have enough of anything, plus he had unlimited spatial storage.

Alex placed the trench coat in his inventory. There was no need to dirty it with blood. He opted for a cloak with a hoody attach for what he was about to do. He also wore a simple mask, which kids would easily wear for Halloween or a festival; Lila's father was an excellent example that things could go wrong.

Once he was done, it was back to killing. His next target was Baron Howell; the fat bastard was always after Lith's aunt jewel. Jewel told her husband Christopher wright before about the baron's comments and wondering eyes, and he warned the baron. But a baron is higher ranking than that of a knight in social standings. If it were not because Christopher wright had the backing of the viscount, who was his brother, the little bastard would try to take Lith's aunt by force regardless of her husband. Whenever the baron was around, Lith would stick to his aunt like glue. Even in the bathroom, instead of waiting outside, he would be inside facing the bathroom door. He heard stories before, and there was no way he would let that happen to his aunt. Whenever the baron saw Lith alone, he would always send his men to beat him black and blue. Lith never complained about this to his aunt; why burden her? For the safety of his aunt, Lith went above and beyond. Alex could appreciate this quality! With Alex in jail and the jewel husband and the viscount away, Alex did not want any surprises. Alex blinked in front of the house. He did not waste any time with the guards; three hours was too little time.

Alex immediately opens a rift enters the void, and starts running into the house. The baron was in the oversized bedroom with three women in his bed. Alex stabbed everyone; he began with the baron first, of course. As Alex exited the rift, the baron and the women stared at him. They knew that nothing awaited them but death. What reasonable person wears a mask, a cloak, and stabs you? The woman cursed themselves for being sluts. The baron cursed himself for having too much lust. Alex didn't pay too much attention to their emotions before stabbing them with his ghost blade to replenish his mana. He was doing this because Star told him to pay attention; he figured that he might learn a new ability or the swords could have a hidden function.

Once his mana was replenished, he didn't kill them right away. They were perfect test subjects for his shadow troll. He wanted to see what they could do and their limitations.

As Alex used the skill shadow troll, a shadow split from the shadow behind him. It looked like a regular shadow would.

After seeing the information, Alex was a little disappointed. The only thing that the shadow seems to be capable of was a sneak attack. It was also limited in the range of 1k from him and a thirty-minute duration. Alex sent it to kill the three girls. The shadow first blended in with the girl's shadow, then it launched a black dragger made of shadow straight for the girl's heart. The materialization of the dragger was astounding. The shadow proved to be efficient for assassinations or surprise attacks.

The shadow could not kill the third girl since she was in the light. There was no shadow near her. Following orders, the shadow made an attempt, and it vanished.

Alex understood light was the shadow's enemy and that the shadow was too weak right now there was no point using them since it is a huge mana drain. Alex killed the woman before looking at the baron.

Alex approached Baron Howell closely and removed his mask to allow him to know why he was going to die. Alex had no desire to kill the baron quickly, nor did he have the time. But the venom on the blade already paralyzed the baron, ensuring he would feel no pain.

'what a blunder,' Alex thought. 

This was one disadvantage of using Raška venom. With great disappointment, Alex slowly stabbed the baron in the eyes.

Although Alex was short on time, he still decided to kill all the guards. No need to let anyone know it was an assassination and at the same time repay the guards for beating Lith black and blue.

The guards were only one level above Alex; there was no need to waste the venom on the ghost blades or waste mana using rift. Alex would blink behind the guards and chop them in the head with an ax he looted. There were ten guards, and each of them received an ax to the head. The scene was brutal; Alex did not waste any time, ten dead under 1 minute. The axes were left behind to create chaos.

Alex ignored the points and notifications. He was truly short on time; he could probably squeeze in one revenge session if he wanted to create the perfect chaos in Saint Rothen town. Alex decided to leave it for last, as he targeted random lords' homes. He avoided the houses of barons and knights! Alex knew that if it were not for the venom and the cover of the night, even with his skills, he would at most only be able to kill the woman and flee.

Alex spent one hour and thirty minutes clearing twenty lords' homes. He killed one hundred and fourteen people and five beast-men; they were all weak; he did not waste his precious venom, nor did he use rift walk. He would either use blink or ghost fade just to conserve mana. He didn't use his ghost blades; everyone died with an ax to the head. There was no exception. He used the mana potions from the store he looted to keep his mana full. Alex was able to level up twice.
