The Counselor

I should break that silence which fell between us, that one which only sparked the tension in the room, but I was found gaping at the young man away, watching the delight which rushed to his gaze. In there was a haze of glee. One which mocked me, one that said, 'I know how well I've gotten you, and it would be unwise to turn away now' How those eyes scrutinized my form, Lord! Mouth was found turning dry, the tensity and anticipation coursing through every vein in me, building up so bad, and coming to burst up right in my chest. Those eyes were ravenous on my form, pulling mine so well, and I could tell you, my own eyes faltered, warmth rushing to every part of my being, and in a second, he brought his lips to mine, body freezing under his hold. It was a like a rush of breeze had snapped past me, with my legs found numb, I swallowed hard at the touch of the young man. I was tossed in a state of shock, left completely bewildered at what was happening, but more so, dumbfounded that I gave no resists to his actions. His lips remained light on mine, waiting for me to give entrance for his to settle in, and in a moment, they pushed in, sending every heat to my body. It came to last for as long as a minute was, our lips moving in sync, and only at that instant when his hands reached for my thighs, had I pushed him off at once, coming to realize what was enfolding. The silence that passed, gave enough volume to sound of our breaths and pants. While the young man away remained watching me, I avoided that scrutiny of his, hands adjusting my clothing. "Leave, Logan" My breath was low, voice heavy. No utterance was emitted from him. Those eyes only contracted on my form, watching as I brought my gaze to his. "Leave" I called yet again. "And let it be known that this will be our last counseling session" I dropped those words, right before moving away from him, meanwhile, I just could feel that scrutiny lingering on me.

3:35, Thursday afternoon, and here our figures sat, gazes remaining in each other's.

"What interests you, Mister Marshall?"

His eyes for a second lingered in mine, searching through, not taking a shift off.

"Boat racing, football...redheads" I could feel his eyes watching me the entire time, gaze examining my profile, and at that utterance, I shifted in my seat, pushing back the tendril of hair that fell across my face.

Redheads.

The silence that fell between us, lasted for as long as a minute was, while I made sure to ignore that gaze of his, he made certain to examine my form.

"Mister Marshall—

"Do I have you uncomfortable, Miss Sangretti?"

"Why would you?"

"Perhaps, the fact that you are a redhead"

"Mister Marshall, need I warn you, that is inappropriate" I followed at once, turning to that file I had in my hold.

"What is?" Came his utterance.

"What are your dislikes?" I went on, ignoring his question.

"People choosing to ignore me"

That utterance earned a scoff from me, with eyes finally meeting his.

"Also, I don't fancy gatherings"

"Yet, it says here in your file, that you've been punished a number of times for attending parties with illegal activities"

"I don't host them" He stated.

"My friends do"

"And any opportunity to rid myself off worries, you bet I'll join in on that"

"Do you drink?" I began.

"I do"

"Do you smoke?"

"Miss Sangretti, you don't think I'm under the influence of anything, do you?" He chuckled.

"We can be done with this in no time, if you'll be kind to answer the questions"

He fell silent, eyes watching me.

"I only tried it once, when I was fifteen. That was the last time I did" He followed.

"Do you have a girlfriend?"

My utterance brought about such deafening silence in the room, with the eyes of the young man skimming my profile.

"I used to" He uttered.

"What happened?"

"You want me to let you in on personal matters?"

"I'm only doing my job, Mister Marshall" I stated.

"Are you, now?" He followed.

"What happened?" I tried to keep the stern tone.

He remained quiet before the sound of his voice broke out.

"Maddison and I dated months ago, and we had to call things off, cause according to her, my head just wasn't there, said I wasn't giving my all" He let out.

"Is that the only relationship you've been in, sister Marshall?" I called at once, scribbling the name of the girl he had just mentioned onto the notepad in front of me.

"I've been in a couple affairs" He began.

"What kind of affairs?"

"It may be best if I keep such knowledge with me, Miss Tavera" He stated.

"What kind of affairs?" I called yet again, meeting his eyes.

"I had a thing with someone close—It all was sudden. She had come over with her parents, everyone seemed happy, and we bothered were conversing alone in one of the rooms home, one thing led to another, and I guess you can tell what happened next" He divulged.

"Why were you alone with her in a room?"

"It was normal, like every other scenario" He stated.

"Just like we are now" He added in a low voice, eyes peering at me up to down.

My gaze had taken off his at that utterance, eyes shifting to the file.

"Who was the girl?"

He fell silent.

I could feel his gaze on me the entire time, and in a low voice, he called;

"My dead brother's girlfriend"
