"Hey," Nora turned to see the other post graduate guy, "Nora right, you have any idea where George might be?"
"He got a call and rushed out." She said pointing towards the door.
"Okay, I see. So you're a fresher, which department?"
"Computer science and you?"
"I'm here for my master's in philosophy."
"That's cool." She smiled. Before the situation turned anymore awkward she excused herself to the restroom.
She moved towards the door but before she opened it, it flung open and hit her right in her nose. She stumbled back and fell down with a thud.
"Can't you look when you walk." The guy who entered, shouted, drawing everyone's attention to them.
"Hey Luke, calm down. Nora are you okay?" George asked frantically, bending down.
"Don't touch me." She said, "And I think I should be the one saying that." Nora said getting back to her feet, covering her nose with her right hand.
She looked up to see his face with rage burning inside her. This man, what was he so cocky about and that attitude of his was pissing her off.
She, looked him right in the eyes and shouted, "You are an idiot, opening the door like that."
"Well you could have been careful."
"Careful? Me? Are you serious?" She snarled.
"Watch your tone."
"I won't. Who are you to tell me what to do?"
"You-"
"You know what, I'm not interested, now get out of my way." She said cutting him off and made her way out of the room.
Looking at herself in the mirror, she saw her nose was now bleeding. She cleaned it up, cursing the guy. On her way back, she was determined to leave no matter what. When she opened the door, she didn't believe what she saw. Tina was cursing the asshole full throttle, not even giving him a chance to speak.
When Tina saw Nora, she made her way towards her, barely able to walk in a straight line. "You okay girl?" She said, she was reeking of alcohol.
"Yeah, now let's get going, shall we?"
"No, I still have to deal with that fucker." Tina turned around. The guy was staring intently at Nora. "No need." She said looking at him in the eye and then diverted her attention to Tina, "Can you stand?" she nodded.
Nora let go of her and moved to get her purse. As she was picking up her purse, someone grabbed her wrist. "Let go." As she saw the person.
"Listen, I mean no harm." He said withdrawing his hand.
"Oh really, but I don't believe you." She said with disgust, pointing towards her now red nose.
"Yes, anyway, let us help you take your friend back. Even the party's over, see everybody left." He said.
"And is that my fault?"
"Look i just want to apologize." He pinched the bridge of his nose.
"I don't need any of your apologies." she snorted.
"Hey guys, Luke, Nora. Let's calm down." He turned to Nora, "Nora we only want to help." He said in a calming voice.
"But I don't want it." There was a loud thud and Tina was on the floor, all giggling and blabbering nonsense.
"But looks like she needs it." George said pointing towards Tina. Nora sighed, "Fine wanna help, pick her up." She said.
"You-" before Luke could say anything, George interjected, "Okay Nora. Why don't you grab her things?"
Fortunately, the drive back to their dorm was quiet. George tried to initiate conversations but no one was in mood except Tina who was speaking something unintelligent in her sleep.
"Why did I agree to come with her? Almost had my nose broken, met two jerks, still starving and this was supposed to be a blast." Nora thought
Once at their dorm, Nora got down and helped Tina get down the SUV, unexpectedly she threw herself at Nora. She twisted her foot and thanks to the heels, she lost her balance. She was about to hit the ground before someone grabbed her by the waist, preventing her from falling. Tina straightened herself and smiled innocently.
"Damn her!" Nora blurted. "Thank you," looking up, it was the same guy, her brows furrowed. She straightened herself, "You need help?" he asked, rather politely.
"No. I'll manage." She grabbed Tina's wrist and put her arms around her shoulders and yet again Tina threw herself at her, hugging Nora with all her might, "Oh Nora, you are so tiny, oh my baby."
Luke and George stood there almost perplexed, trying their best not to laugh out.
"What?" Nora almost shouted out of embarrassment. "Get going already."
"Yes. Good bye and take care." George said. She didn't reply, George and Luke took the cue and left without saying anything else.
As soon she heard the engine noise diminishing, she relaxed, "You just wait Tina Miles, I'll make you pay for everything I had to face today."
